No to circuit training?

I absolutely love circuits. When I think of circuits, I think of workouts like Cardio & Weights, where you are switching back and forth between cardio and, well, weights. I think they are a lot of fun and the workouts just fly by. Circuits are really more for endurance (I think), than for strength or hypertrophy, and for changing things up, rather than for any long term rotation. I think circuits are much more difficult than cardio or weights alone. I usually try do at least one circuit a week!

Laura-

I hate curcuits too.. always have. I'm probably a lot like you in the trianing department.
I can count on one hand the numbe rof times in 5 years Ive done circuit (TBW and not including cardio-- afterall, the TBW is that already isnt it?? ;)

Ive only ever done them when Im genuinly booked and exhausted and know I won't have time to get my regular 3-day split in, but HAVE to train SOMEHOW.

I throw MM or somehting in there and it makes me feel better and buys me another 2 days before I have to worry about lifting again... again, <5 times in 5 years :)

But then again, they're not relevant to my goals. My goal is to get my squat and my bench press up.. how on earth can that happen with circuit training?

Although.. Im sure it would be better for cutting, but I just can't feel good on such a lite training routine hee ;)

I am continually thankful for how much I learn on this board. I am newer to working out with weights on a consistent basis, after years of being a cardio girl. I love circuits and for a while, that was pretty much what I did. But I am learning that I really need to lift heavy and train for strength too, not just endurance, in order to see greater changes in my body.

Anyway, this is a long winded way of saying that I have switched my love of circuits into a sometimes thing- I will use them in a rotation (cardio / endurance of course) or or a rest week when I'm between rotations and want to do something fun and energizing. But I know now that circuits alone will not give me exactly what I'm looking for- time to start my new rotation in December and build some muscle! :)
