No Sweets week of June 24

Hi ladies! Today I did GS: Legs and I used a purple dynaband (one level harder than the green). What a difference! I definitely needed a heavier band for legwork. I need to do this for 12 more days now...

Oh! and my diet was good today. No sweets whatsoever.

Affirm - which DVDs do you have already? I can help you out if you're not sure which one you should get. I rarely use S&H, but it is effective.
 
I have some total body workouts, but the only upper body that I have are: GS BSB, PUB. I enjoy the upper body portion of Muscle Max and sometimes mix up things from some of the other DVD's. I just think that I need another all upper body. I had Supersets Push and Pull, but got rid of it because I didn't like the workout at all. I do enjoy the weight training, but don't like leg workouts with a lot of leg presses.

Friday will be my day off as I plan to take my kids to the amusement park if weather permits and that will be enough walking.

I attended a funeral today and had some cake at the repast. Other than that, eating has been good this week.

Affirm, I am opposite of Rose. I use S&H all the time. I even vary it some. I admit it can be a bit boring at times. But I think you won't get too bored if ya lift heavy enough- then your too busy too get bored ;)

Had a super busy day at work yesterday. Well, really all week (except Monday- knew I would pay for that LOL) I had two snickers minatures. I had a dull headache all day. I came home and did a 40 minute relaxing yoga that was supposed to help the headache. Well it didn't x( Feeling better this morning and will do SB and abs!!

Hi there! Today I did a short cardio + GS: C&T + abs. By the way, my chest and triceps were shaking like never before while I was doing C&T. I guess that long rest I took is going to help me gain some strength and hopefully some muscle definition. My diet has been okay, but I've been feeling a little bit bored with my food lately. I'm tired of eating the same things again and again. I need to change it up a bit, but I have no idea how.

Affirm - You don't have GS: C&T? That is a great upper body workout. The whole GS series is great, but since you're looking for upper body workouts I think this is the perfect complement to BSB which you already have. My biggest problem with S&H is that after each set you rest for 1 minute and my mind starts wondering. They get really long for me with those 1 minute breaks. Also, I'm not too fond of the leg workout from S&H, but the upper body workouts are great (if you can deal with the long rests) and I really love T&B from that series. I use S&H in 2-3 week rotations every once in awhile when I feel I'm in a plateau with my strength and definition.

Catherine - I hope you're feeling better. We both get migraines and headaches often. When I get one it's my body's way to tell me I need to rest. Yoga helps me relax, but I would never do it with a headache (especially since I mostly do Power Yoga, so my headache might get worse). When I'm stressed out and sleep deprived I have a guaranteed migraine the next day. I don't know if it's the same for you. SB and abs sounds great.

Well the weekend's right here. Have fun ladies. Remember we're back on the wagon with diet and exercising. We're doing sooo much better than in the past few weeks. Let's keep it up.
 
Yes, we have to stay focused...especially with a holiday coming up and we will most likely be surrounded by so much food. It feels good to be doing better.

Thanks for your input on S & H series. I do love working out the upper body. I just need to focus on those muscles for a few months to see what results I can really get. I haven't taken the time to look at the new series coming out, so I am not sure what it offers in regards to upper body. I will keep you posted.
 
Hey ladies!! Funny story, I did the wrong workout yesterday morning. Part way into SB I thought to myself today was PUB x( So I only did the step combo segment and abs. Then later I did MM upper body premix-couldn't get into PUB for some reason.

Rose, the yoga that I did the other night specifically said it was to relieve headaches. Well didn't work that time. But it was a relaxing yoga session. I am like you I mostly do power yoga and just recently aquired this one. I think it's called Yoga for Stress Relief. It has about 20 different programs on it for different issues.

Affirm, for your upper body you could do what I am doing. Once a week I just do the basic exercises bench, db row, millitary press, tricep skull crushers and bicep- either concentration curls or incline curls. I go as heavy as I can on 3-6 sets (number of sets depends on the reps- try to get at least 21). Then the other upper body day I am doing lighter wts with higher reps- something like ME or PUB. It really seems to be working for me.

Woke up with another dull headache this morning. Not bad and it's almost gone. I think it's stress. Been so busy lately. Plus I think it's adding the ab work back into my routine. I know I strain my neck some with certain moves.

Today I woke up with terrible DOMS (hurts so good as they say). I had yoga on schedule for today and a rest day on Sunday, but I decided to switch. Today I took a rest day and tomorrow I'm doing yoga. Diet has been good, but like Affirm said a big holiday is coming and we have to be strong with all the temptations.

Catherine - I may have to check out yoga for relaxation in the future. There are some days that I really need something like that.

Affirm - By the way, how's Max? Did you do something about the odor situation? I'm curious.
