No Sweets --Week of July 8

Affirm

Cathlete
After the last few workouts, I wasn't sure if I were going to be able to workout today. However, I got up enough energy to do Interval Max and I had fun....believe it or not.... in the midst of feeling my aching muscles on some of those step moves.

My eating was better last week, but not as good as I want it to be. However, I am proud to say that I got in more workouts and longer workouts this week than the previous, so I am moving forward.

Fitfairy, I can imagine that you worked many upper body muscles from those chin ups.

Sounds like we all did much better in our limited sweets area last week. HIGH FIVE AT YOU!

Affirm, good for you for mustering up the energy to do IMAX!! I don't have that one, but I am sure (given the name) that it's a toughie!! You have been doing awesome with your workouts and ^5 on the eating.

I hear ya with aching muscles!! I wasn't sure if I was gonna be able to workout today. DOMS was feeling a bit better, so I did Step Blast. Well, my DOMS is back  Oh well, no pain, no gain huh?? I've not had many sweets, but still need to work on just eating better. I find summer time it is so hard x(

I wonder if Rose is done with all of those pushups yet :D

Hello ladies. It's a new week and it seems we're back to our tough workouts. Way to go!!! Affirm you did Interval Max on the same week as GS? Wow I'm impressed!

Today I did LM warm-up + LM blasts (using an 8lbs med ball on blasts 1-6) + C&T (yikes the push-ups...I can't believe I'm done  )+ abs. I've been eating more than usual though, but just because I've been increasing my protein intake to see what happens. So far, I've been a lot less hungry than usual.

Hey Catherine did you ever follow P90X's eating plan? Does it work? I don't know what to do with my diet, I'm pretty much bored and the scale is pretty much stuck on the same weight. This is the longest plateau I've ever been in. Hopefully now that I'm exercising like I used to and changing my diet a bit something will happen.

This morning was GS -BSB. I wanted to do cardio, but my goal for the month is to do 3 upper body each week. Therefore, I knew I had to do upper body today. Since I have the GS series now, I plan to do BSB, C&T once a week and then something like Muscle Max, Power Hour or PUB another day.

Rose, I have never tried P90X. However, I have read much info that at Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle on the forum. There used to be a person on the success story who used P90 and wrote about her results after 3 months. I am not sure if it is there any more.

This morning after my workout, I had a scrambled egg, 2 slices of whole wheat toast and 1/2 grapefruit. I am aiming for good eating today. It is supposed to be almost 100 degrees, so I must drink plenty of water.

Affirm that sounds like a pretty wicked schedule }( I think you will be happy with your results from the GS series.

I just finished upper body. It was a moderate wt day:
Bench: 25# DBs 3 sets 12
Pec Flys: 20# 1 set of 12 and 1 set of 10  that was enough :+
DB Row: 25# 3 sets of 16
Lat Raise: 10# 2 sets of 12 and 1 set of 8
Skull Crushers: 12# 2 sets of 14 and 1 set of 12
Kickbacks: 12 3 sets of 12
Conc Curls 17.25 1 set of 12, 1 set of 10 and 1 set of 8
I took 60 sec rest between sets
I am toast

Seriously, I am seeing great results with this routine of doing heavy upper body and heavy lower body one day/wk along with moderate upper body and moderate lower body one day/wk (total of 4 wt w/o per wk)

I keep forgetting to ask the same question about skull crushers. Please explain Catherine.

Anyway, today I was going to do yoga, but I have DOMS everywhere so I'm resting instead and I'll resume my workouts tomorrow. Diet has been okay, but last night I was eating crap without being hungry just before going to bed. I don't know if it was stress or what. Today I had a rough day. Starting with my mom who called me to argue, then one friend which I consider one of my best friends apparently stabbed me in the back (I really don't have the energy to talk to him, if he cares he'll contact me and if he doesn't he wasn't my friend after all) and to top things off I learned that my oldest niece (she's 17) has encephalitis and she might need brain surgery. Yikes, but it's only Monday. I'm going to have a positive mindset about all these things, I hope this week goes by really quickly, and on Friday hopefully things will be better than today. My plan is to keep doing my normal routine, otherwise I get depressed which would be a waste because I can't help what's going on, but I won't lose hope.

Rose, I am sendingsome positive energy to you and your neices family.

Fitfairy, now----I understand skull crushers!

Today was a 45 minute premix from Low Max. It has been a very long time since I have done this workout. I may not have done this workout since last fall. Because I don't do it often, I forget that Low Max is not a low intensity workout. I am also reminded of how it works the lower body.

I have been feeling really good lately. I hope to see some permanent results. But, I know that comes with permanently watching my diet.

Hey there ladies.

Thank you Affirm. Last night my mind was so fuzzy that I forgot to say that I've never read the book you both mentioned. I've read the threads about it and it looks interesting. And I didn't know lying overhead tricep extensions were called skull crushers that's pretty funny. :+

Today I'm trying to do my normal routine and so far I feel pretty positive about the situations that are going on. My friend called me today and things were blown out way out of proportion. I'm glad I still have my friend. My mom, well...she's going to be my mom no matter what. :) Now I'm just hoping my niece gets better. My sister is having problems with the medical insurance, you probably know how that goes. It's like it was taken straight out from Michael Moore's new movie about medical insurance companies, which I haven't seen yet, but I've seen many clips about it already. Like I said I'm staying positive.

Today I'm doing a short intense cardio + BSB + abs. I have to agree about LM. On Sunday I did the blasts using an 8lbs med ball. Yikes, yesterday I had DOMS everywhere. I used A-jocks modifications. The thread is back on the OD forum (someone bumped it back; I think it was jess). If you're curious check it out. Take care ladies.

Rose, good for you for staying positive. I am so glad you and your friend worked things out. As for moms, you're right, she'll always be your mom. My mom and I have lots of disagreements and it's usually over trivial stuff LOL!! I am praying for your DN!! How horrible to be that ill and then have trouble with insurance x(

Oh sorry, no way in he!! am I gonna do LM with an 8# med ball  :+ :D
I did do IMAX2 tonight thru blast 9 and then KPC abs.

Eating is good today :D

Thanks for the prayers Catherine. Right now we're focused on getting her the help that she needs and we'll deal with the insurance issue later. One of her medications is $150 a day and of course the insurance doesn't want to cover it either. It's just crazy, but getting my niece out of this should be our priority now, money is just money and we'll deal with that later. This is just a little bump on the road and my family is not letting this situation get us depressed. We were all laughing today and staying positive throughout the evening.

Today, like I said, I did a short cardio + BSB + abs. Great workout. Tomorrow I'm doing GS: Legs. I've been eating more protein and eating apples and yogurt (although I always eat yogurt) as snacks to see if something good happens in the scale. I need to find information on low glicemic fruits though, apples is the only low glicemic fruit that I know of and I know I need to add variety in my diet in order to succeed.

About LM, it's only blasts 1-6, and it doesn't have to be an 8 pounder. You can start with a 5 lbs dumbbell or plate. Catherine, come on, you know you wanna do it! :p

Rose, I don't even have a medicine ball.....and after barely getting through Low Max yesterday, I can't imagine doing it with a weighted ball.

Today was Power Hour. I seem to be dusting off some workouts that I haven't done in a while.

Affirm - It can be done, trust me, even if it is using a light dumbbell. However I think it is more for someone who does LM on a regular basis. I do a segment of LM (either the step only or the blasts only premixes) once every 1-2 weeks. Wow! Power Hour! I haven't done that one in years.

Catherine - When is the RT? Is it next month? I think the day is getting closer and closer.

Today I had GS Legs on schedule, but I didn't sleep well last night and I'm *really* tired so I'm going to bed early today and I'll do GS Legs tomorrow. Oh and my diet has been clean today so I'm happy about that.

Rose, I hope you get some rest!! GSL will be there ready and waiting tomorrow }( WTG on clean eating.

Eating was ok today.

OK my behind is numb! Did by legs and back routine. Did chinups in sets of 6,5,4,3 and then pooped out
Legs:
Squats 65#: 3x10 (same as last week)
Bulgarian Squats 20# DBs: 1x5, & 3x6 (subbed this for lunges)
DL 70#: 3x10
Plie Squats 50#: 3x8
Calf Raises 28.75 3x15 (increased by 1 set)

I just hope I can walk tomorrow.

Hey, did I tell you all that I am going to see the Police? It's this coming Sat!!!!

I don't have PH, Hmmmmmmmm????
