Hey ladies!! I am still battling this cold and now have an upset stomach. Haven't worked out since Tues x( Eating has been off too. I am just forgetting about it all for now and will hopefully be back to something soon!!

I added some pics of my doggies on my picture trail if you are interested. Muffie is the bigger of the two. She is silver and tan. Bisquit is black and tan.

I hope you two are doing well and not too stressed getting ready for the holiday!!!

Muffie is adorable. Those eyes just melt your heart. Take it easy during the holidays. Don't worry about exercising. Just try to feel better.

I am devoting my week to cleaning my house, making a few trips to the dump, and spending time with the kids. I have just been putting off so much around the house and this is just the perfect time to do it.

I am taking my dog in to be neutered also, so I will need to devote some time to his recovery.

I plan to make a grocery trip tomorrow to pick up some fruit and veggies. At least I can eat well. I am a morning person, but my mornings will be spend doing some power cleaning while the kids are asleep and won't bother me. Gearing up for the new year!

Affirm, power cleaning while the kids sleep sounds like a great idea!! I hope you get lots accomplished. I really need to do some decluttering.

I hope your doggie does well with his neutering!!

You are so right about those eyes of Muffie's melting your heart!!

Rose, I hope you are getting everything accomplished that you need/want to!!

Merry Christmas Eve Ladies!!

Cleaning has exhausted me. I got up about 7 AM and started my journey around the house. It lasted up to 5 PM and I still have a couple of loads of laundry to do. My legs are sore and I just managed to shower and wash my hair. I just didn't want to go through the holidays with my house a total wreck. It is not spotless, but much better than it has been in a few months. I probably burned more calories than a step workout!

I took Max in for grooming yesterday. It is just too much of a hastle trying to give him a bath. The kids enjoy giving him a bath, but I don't like chasing him to dry him off. He is so active. I just decided to spend the $33 and let Petsmart do it this time. He was starting to smell, and I didn't like that. He didn't need a hair cut of anything, so I felt really comfortable with him going in. I was just thinking that a year ago, we visited the breeder to pick out mommy and daddy for our dearly loved puppy and now he brings so much joy to our family...despite the carpet incident:p

Merry Christmas ladies and I hope you have a great one!

I'm also struggling with cold symptoms. Yesterday I had a sore throat and every single bone of my body was hurting. Today I've been struggling with fatigue so unfortunately I haven't been able to do much. I did some cleaning though, but not as I wanted to. I haven't been able to exercise either (I couldn't even do yoga), but I hope I feel better tomorrow. I definitely want to exercise tomorrow even if it is first thing in the morning so I will try my best. I'm going to visit some relatives and I know I'll have all sorts of temptations around me. Catherine, your doggies are adorable. I wish Muffie the best. Affirm, cleaning definitely has to count as exercise. It felt like a tough workout for me these past few days.

Merry Christmas ladies!

Merry Christmas Ladies!!! I hope your holiday is full of happiness!!

Affirm, can I hire you to come get my house in order :+

Rose, I am sorry to hear you are feeling bad :( I hope you don't have what I have. Been fighting it for a week now and no end in sight x( I haven't worked out in 7 days  That is depressing :( Just feel better before you decide to push yourself, that's what I'm doing.

Right now I am watching Legs and Glutes on fit Tv. How messed up is that?? LOL!!

Well, the day after is here :D It could have been worse so I am not gonna beat myself up. I had a good time. Spent only a couple of hours at each family (his and mine). Had to get back home to check on Muffie. She had been having the poopies-not good. Poor baby. Just started refeeding again slowly yesterday after resting her stomach for 24 hours. So far 1 normal poopie (pardon the slang) There is a potential because of her extensive bowel surgery that she may end up with a malabsorption syndrome. Kinda where most of what you eat runs through ya x( I am so hoping that's not the case. I don't mind the accidents. It's just that when we are at work she'll freak out if she can not get out to do it :( Sorry to ramble on.

My eating has been back in order today so far. I actually worked out today to-the first time in over a week. I did PS legs standing portion with light wts and chinups. It kicked my bootie and it felt good!!!

I hope you two had a wonderful holiday and now have some time to relax!!!

Back and neck hurts today. Not sure if I slept in some awkward way or what is going on. Max dog had his procedure today and seems to be doing fine so far. I also had him microchipped while he was there. He was so happy to see me when I picked him up and that made me feel really special. He was so thirsty when he got home. I actually felt sorry for him as he slopped up all the water in his bowl. I hope his recovery goes well. He is 8 months and 58 pounds now.

Max is getting to be a big boy!! Glad his surgery went well!! Hope your neck is better soon.

It's back to work tomorrow for me. Just one day and then off till Wednesday of next week. So not too bad.

Eating has still been good today. Not too much time left to mess it up. Wooooooooo hoooooo!!

WOW, yesterday was super busy at work. I guess that's what happens when you only see patients one day in a week  My schedule was so packed!! The day went by fast though. Enough complaining LOL.

Eating has been good the last few days-finally!! I did HIS cardio premix last night. After I finished my toes started cramping x( then my calfs cramped WTH???? Now my calfs are so drawn up and tight it hurts to walk after I've been sitting for a while. I think I need a good stretch!!

I guess you ladies have been busy!! I hope you are taking some time to enjoy the rest of your time off!!

Did Rose go out of town?

Yes, fitfairy, it has been total relaxation. I did a little re-cleaning this morning along with some laundry. Other than that, I am truly calling this vacation time at home. It is unfortunate that I am ending the year on a no exercise note, but overal, I guess the total year has been pretty good. As we prepare to sound off on the no sweets check for the 2007 year, I will say that I eat better than last year and my exercising was probably like normal. I usually do very well in January - April and then again in June - October. The other months are sporadic for me.

Glad to hear you are relaxing Affirm!! I think we've all done well this year and should be proud!!!

OK, must admit I went to Cracker Barrel for lunch. Enough said

I think Rose mentioned she had a lot of stuff to get done. Maybe she was going out of town?? Not sure.

Planning on 4DS upper body premix after a nap!!

Hey ladies. No, I wasn't out of town. On Tuesday (Christmas day) I woke up and my back felt like I was 12 years old again (the cold symptoms were gone too) and it got me in big trouble. I got over-confident and started moving heavy boxes, carrying a new electronic keyboard I bought for myself, and all sorts of heavy things and by the afternoon I couldn't move, but I still drove to my mom's for dinner. I've been in bed for 3 days x( and I only get out of bed to eat, shower, and do the basics. Ugh!!! The last time my back got this bad the doctor said three days of rest and that's what I'm doing, but honestly I don't know if I can exercise tomorrow. If I do it's going to be really low impact. I've been a little depressed also because I was supposed to have fun on my vacation. I already told one of my best friends I'm not going to her karaoke party tomorrow and while I sit in bed watching TV I think about all my friends having fun while I'm in pain again! I know I have to give it a couple of days, but I don't think my back will ever be the same. The pain will go away and it will come back eventually. I think it's time to explore some options (chiropractor, acupunturist, or even surgery) and I will make some calls next week to see what can I do. Even if I feel better in a couple of days I know I will be like this again in the future if I don't do something about my back. I'm very active and being in bed for a week every couple of months is not an option. Oh and speaking of beds I also started looking for a new bed (I'm thinking Sleep Number is the way to go cause the memory foam I have is no longer comfortable). I like to torture myself and I've done my regular weigh-ins. I've gained 2-3 pounds due to inactivity and Holiday treats. That's unacceptable so I started eating super clean today.

Catherine - I'm glad you're feeling better and that you're exercising again.

Affirm - You got Max microchipped? That's great! They don't have that in my town yet, but I will get my dogs microchipped as soon as the vet starts doing it. I hope your neck is not bothering you anymore.

Take care ladies and have a nice weekend. I will take care of myself as well.

OMG  4DS upper body premix knocked me on my you know what today. It was a good decision to hold off doing it yesterday. I don't think there is anyway I would have made it through it!! I ususally can match or go higher than Cathe on wts. NOT TODAY!! I guess the time off and maybe I'm still recovering from my cold. What a bummer!! OK, enough whining. I just need to stay on track and get back to where I was!!

How are you all doing this holiday weekend? Rose, I hope you are rested and your back is better!! Affirm, I hope you are still enjoying your time off!!

OK, New Years is just around the corner ladies!! Back to business LOL!!

Oh gosh. My back is definitely not better, but I couldn't rest one more day. I did 30 mins of extremely low impact cardio (marching in place, walking side to side, some low kicks and some jabs, but that's about it) then I did my stretching exercises (I have a list of stretches I'm supposed to do several times a week). My back is very tight. I couldn't hold the stretches for more than 30 seconds (I normally hold them for at least a minute) and I couldn't go as far as I normally do. I got a loooong way to go, but at least I made the effort. I wanted to do yoga tomorrow, but I tried some poses to see if my back could handle them and even with modifications it was hard, so I will probably do the same thing I did today for a couple of days until I feel better. New Years is in a couple of days! Wooooow! It's going to be the 1st anniversary of our check-in!

Catherine - It's always a good idea to start slowly after a long break. I normally go down 10-20% on the weights for the big muscles (back, chest, legs) and about 5% or less for the smaller muscles. Even if I don't feel the burn I usually do that for a couple of days and then I increase the weight again. I don't know if that would work for you, but it works for me. By the way, I saw the plate mates on a catalog I got in the mail. I want them sooooo bad. I also need to get the weight racks to organize my dumbbells and plates, but the shipping on those is astronomical. I've been to many stores trying to find them, but no such luck. We'll see if I end up ordering those or not, but the plate mates are on my wishlist.

Affirm - How long is your vacation? Mine's until Jan 8th. I can't enjoy mine as I would like because of my back, but I sure hope you're enjoying yours. You definitely deserve it with all the hard work you did in the new school.

Rose, I am so sorry that you continue to have problems with your back. Please be careful and follow the doctor's orders. I realize that it must be frustrating as you were just beginning to gradually figure out your comfort level of exercising with needed modifications. Take it easy and you will get there again.

Fitfairy, I can't imagine you having a difficult time with UB. You are one strong lady. You will back to normal after a few workouts!

I return to work on the 2nd! I haven't decided on what my goals will be for next year. This year was to focus on eating less sweets and I think I did better. I am thinking about focusing on UB for next year. Not sure if I will join a check in or not. I think it may help though.

Have you decided on your goals for next year?

Rose, you rest that back of yours and be careful (pointing finger) Ok, enough preaching ;) I hope you find your answer sooon to get this fixed!!

I know I should start back with lower wts and I did that with legs lol and just really wanted to not have to with my upper body. Hello, what was I thinking?? I am a bit sore in the chest and back today, but not too bad.

Affirm, have you seen the tank top rotation for the upper body? It's out there somewhere. I can not remember if you have 4ds or not, but the upper body premix in that has made some suttle changes in my upper body for the short period of time I've been doing it. I alternate that with 1 heavy upper body on my own weekly. I'm not sure I said that right- I do two upper body workouts per week one heavy on my own and then the upper body 4ds premix.

I really need to focus on eating less processed food and more whole foods. I do better than the average person, but not as good as I'd like. I bought Cassandra Forsythes' new book The Perfect Body Diet or something like that. I have read it, but skimmed it. It has some awesome recipies in it. I also bought NROL4W. I usually don't exactly follow this stuff. But I just take bits and peices and incorporate it into what I do.

Oh, and Affirm were you posting at 3 am??? WTH, get some sleep girl :7

Fitfairy, I have seen the tank top rotation, but I have never actually tried it exactly. I have attempted my own version by just doing UB 3 days a week. I did some grocery shopping today gearing up for the new year to start getting in veggies, etc.

No workout for me today. My back is feeling better, but I do a flexibility test when I wake up and it's still tight (not as tight as a couple of days ago though, but it's still a work in progress) so I decided to rest, go to bed early, and do a light workout tomorrow if I'm feeling better. At the beginning of the check-in I was 15lbs heavier (and that was after all the pounds I lost in 06). Now, almost a year later, I've maintained my weight loss, lost some more, but still struggling with the last 5-10lbs.

I have several things I want to do for the new year: 1) Find a new job that pays me more than my current one (still doing searches and sending resumes for that one). 2) If 1) happens before the summer then I'll go to grad school in the fall so I can get my masters in engineering (that one is costly so I definitely need a better job first). 3) I'm learning how to play keyboards. I tried it in my teens and gave up too easily, but there are several tools now that I can use in addition to music lessons. Today I ordered a couple of top rated books and dvds. 4) Keep on eating well, but I need to try harder with the processed foods as well. I also need to stay away from ice cream. 5) Finally lose my last 5-10 and get more muscle definition. 6) I will commit to the new STS series. I can't wait for the presale and I can't wait until I have that box in my hand! 7) Start taking my back seriously even if that means getting surgery. 8) I will take my health seriously and I will finally start to get all my annual check-ups *annually* instead of doing them when something is wrong. I think that sums it up. lol! I hope you two have a great new years. Are we doing this again in '08?
