newby looking for help

Hi
I am a fortyish mother of two who has gotten thicker in the middle than I like. Promised myself I would go down kicking. The only Cathe video I have is Maximum Intensity Cardio, but have ordered the new DVD's. Anyone have any suggestions for attacking a thick waist? (I could loss about 15 lbs)?

Hi & welcome! My best advice is a good routine that includes an adequate mix of cardio, lifting, and clean eating. Don't forget that clean eating is 80% of the eqauation! It does not matter how much you work out if you are still eating poorly. I know this sounds so general, but it is hard to know what more to tell you without knowing your specific goals.

Wittling the abdominal area first comes from the eating and then a good solid core routine that has a mix of weighted & non weighted work.

Another big tenet that I live by is to keep changing up your routine so that your body does not become too accostomed to the routine. The more accostomed you are, the more efficient the body becomes and the less results you will eventually see. If you are plateauing on a certain activity, than it is time to push your body a little further. I love HIIT days thrown into the mix. They are fantastic endurance builders and fat blasters!

I suggest you visit the rotations board where you can see a ton that Cathe & other members have put out. Let me know what else I can help you with.

My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was sixty. She's ninety-seven now, and we don't know where the hell she is.

Hi Debbie,
Thanks for the advice. Goals are short term (Mexican vacation in January) and long term (finding my pre-rugrat body). I hope to be able to start the November rotation when I get the dvd's, but I must have been one of the last to pre-order.

If you could buy just one Cathe dvd, what would it be?
