Hi everyone! My name is Jen and I am new to posting on this forum however I have been lurking for quite a few months. :) I just stopped receiving the Depo Provera shot at the end of January because my husband and I want to have a child soon. I was told by my employer that my disability insurance doesn't kick in for pregnancy until August 15th so we are being careful until then. However, my dilemma is that my AF has not returned due to what I am assuming is the Depo. A little history...I came off of Depo a few years ago and switched to pill form of birth control and AF returned within three months or so. However this time, I do not want any hormones in my system so I am somewhat patiently waiting. But I am getting anxious and a little nervous because I want to make sure everything is good with my body. I have been having some crazy symptoms such as headaches, achiness, crampy feeling and my breasts have grown almost a full cup size which I am attributing to the loss of the Depo in my system. However, I still have taken two pregnancy tests which have been negative due to the symptoms. My doctor told me that it could take almost a year after the Depo to conceive so I don't want to make an appointment sounding like some crazy anxious patient unless I think something is wrong. I guess I just wanted to vent and find some support here with you guys. I read this forum a lot and think everyone on here is so wonderful and supportive with each other.

By the way, I am a huge Cathe fan also and have a horrible addiction to ordering her workouts!

Hi Jen,

Welcome to this forum!

I have no experience with Depo Provera or any other forms of birth control pills (couldn't stand the way the pills made me feel), but I just wanted to let you know that I was experiencing some of the same symptoms as you back in January and took 2 pregnancy tests which both gave me negative results. I believe they were both Clear Blue... Anyway, I went to my PCP (instead of my gyn since I'd ruled out pregnancy) and due to my symptoms they made me take another pregnancy test there which resulted positive... and here I am now 7.5 months pregnant!

I know doctors have told other friends of mine that it would take them months to conceive after coming off the pill and one particular friend was pregnant within a month of coming off the pill.

I say all this to say that you should go to the doctor and find out what's going on so you can put your mind at ease.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I suspect that this is just my hormones readjusting but I think I may check with my doctor just to be sure now that you have shared your story. :) Thank you for replying, it helps to hear others stories.

Jen:)

Welcome! Hang in there by the way. I wrote a post about being discouraged last month and i discovered last week that i'm pregnant!

I was on the pill for a couple of years and took myself off it in february. I conveived some time in may so I guess every body is different :)

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I'm tryin to hang in there.....

I think my biggest fear with this Depo is all of the horror stories I have read and I just want my body to go back to normal. I am really excited to start trying to conceive so maybe I am just jumping the gun. :) I hoping that by August I will have had at least a cycle or two before we start trying.

Thanks for your encouragement! This is why I joined this forum because everyone is so nice and helpful!

Sweetpea, I have no experience with DepoP, but just wanted to say hello. I hope you get some answers from your doc soon. Waiting/not knowing is always the hardest part.

Thank you Kate! I think that the waiting and not knowing is what is frustrating me so much however I feel better after everyone's posts! :D
