I know this is a topic that has been posted on, but I can't seem to find anything just right in the previous posts. I have a friend who wants to try a workout video. She is an athletic person but does not have any experience with aerobics, dance, etc. I am trying to find a beginner video with basic moves that will ease her into a routine of working out on a regular basis. My experience has been with kickbox videos, which are generally too choreographed for a beginner, and now I am a Cathe convert, but I don't want her to run off screaming after previewing one of Cathe's vids! Any advice from someone who has worked their way up to La Cathe? Thanks thanks thanks!!!

Does she have a step?? If she does, I'd recommend Step Reebok's original step workout to begin with. For floor, Gilad's Best of Bodies in Motion is a good one.

Why can't she do MIS with very light weight. It's easy to follow, inspirational, and she can eventually use the weight Cathe suggests.

I also like Kathy Smith videos. The choreography is really quite simple---I am a bit uncoordinated myself and cannot do really dancy type aerobics. I am just not wired for complex choreography. Kelly Roberts also has some videos that are pretty basic--one in particular is "Real Fitness: Ultimate STep workout". The choreography is not difficult and the music is pretty good too.

A great intro to step video is Kelly Robert's "Ultimate Step" video. She gives great cuing and teaches the basic step moves from "V steps" to turning on the step and going over the step, and all at a pace very do-able for someone just starting out with step.
A good intro to kickboxing video is Kathy Smith's "Kickboxing Workout" video. She and another man teach the basic kicks/jabs/punches and put them to use in mini routines/drills. A great video to learn proper kickboxing technique.
