New to Cathe

Hi,

I am really interested in trying Cathe's workouts. I do mostly Kathy Smith tapes and free weights on my own. I need something more challenging. Please make some suggestions for a Cathe beginner (with some experience) - aerobics and weight routines.

Thanks for your input
Laura:)

Hi Laura,

I am not familiar with Kathy Smith so I don't know what kind of style you are used to doing. I started with Cathe's Body Blast series, and the step aerobics took some time for me to learn, but the weight workouts were easy to follow. (I have found all her weight workouts easy to follow...but not necessarily easy to do!) I got good results as well. It is a fun and effective series.

Cathe also has some new beginner/intermediate workouts to choose from, but you may be too advanced for those. I just did Body Fusion today, and it is great for someone who doesn't know step, but not as challenging for someone more advanced. I bought it for my DD and I thnk it will be perfect for her as a beginning stepper.

A good idea would be to watch the video clips here to help you choose something you would like.

Cathe's new beginner/intermediate Low Impact Step is a good place to learn some of Cathes routines. I'm an advanced exerciser who does only Cathe, and I really like LIS. If it's not intense enought for you, you can do it on an eight inch step and add power moves (it's really easy to add power moves to this one).

After LIS, I'd try either the CTX series and/or Body Blast. Check out the video clips to see if you'd like these series.

Hi Laura,

Welcome aboard :) .

I wanted to suggest that you view the video clips from Low Impact Step or the Body Blast Series.

Hi Laura,

I used to work out to mainly Kathy Smith until this summer. I had Step Jam from Cathe that a friend lent me and I loved it because it was more challenging. I would suggest "The Classics" and "Cardio Hits" if you are looking for something similar but a little harder than Kathy Smith.

Also check out the "Ultimate Guide to Cathe workouts" that's posted on the top of this board. I would rank Kathy Smith's tapes between a 3~4 on this scale (at least for myself).

Definetly check out the video clips that are posted on the web pages.

For weight training, I've started with Slow & Heavy and have enjoyed it so far.

Good luck!

Welcome!

I started with Muscle Max and loved it! I also love Muscle Endurance which comes with Bootcamp which is super hard but I do it every once in a while for a HUGE challenge and to check my overall improvement in cardio and strength. My favorite cardio workouts are Low Max and Kick Punch Crunch. I have 2 left feet and have caught on pretty well with Low Max and KPC is just tons of fun. The KPC cario conditioning pre-mix is great if you are short on time.

I think those are great dvds to start - good luck in choosing!
