New mother and New to Cathe's workouts

Hi,
My name is Patryce, 27 and am a first time mom. I have started the postpartum battle of losing the weight gained. Of course, with a 3 month old baby who is exclusively breast fed, going to the gym is not an option so I have started using the few cassettes I have and watching fit TV. It was in watching fit TV that I came across Cathe. After watching a few workouts I decided to research her and am impressed as well as overwhelmed with the collection of dvds and videos.

I would consider myself moderately active, enjoy weight training and familiar with step aerobics. Can anyone suggest which DVDs I should start out with as a newcomer? I see people are doing rotations of workouts and various combinations. Does anyone have any suggestions of which workouts I should try. I have 30lbs to shed and would like to loose it in by my anniversary in July, hopefully that is a realistic goal. Most of the weigt gained is in my legs...

Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to participating in these forums.

Hi Patryce and welcome to the forums. Congratulations on your little one! I found that Cathe's beginner workouts (Basic Step/Body Fusion and High Step Circuit) were really helpful in getting me back into working out after I had my baby. The footwork in the step portions aren't that advanced, but it will get you back into working out and it's a good intro to Cathe's style. You might also want to try the CTX series to get a variety and there's a great all leg workout in that one. Her Timesaver dvd is more advanced (from the Body Blast series) but it might be helpful if your time is limited and it will give you a taste of that series, too. Hope this helps!

Hi Patryce and welcome to the forums!

As a beginner to Cathe I would personally recommend that you start with the Basic Step and Body Fusion and High Step Circuit DVD's. After that you are likely to be hooked and it will just be a matter of time before you own them ALL!!! LOL :) ;-) :p

I started with Basic Step and Body Fusion and it was a wise choice. Cathe uses advanced choreography in her step work outs. This dvd will show you the basics and then you can build on from there with the rest of her collection.

Once you are comfy, I would recommend moving on to the Body Blast series.

HTH! :)

Hi Patryce. Just wanted to say welcome. :)

I also agree that Cathe's Basic Step & Body Fushion would be wise choices for someone new to Cathe. Be beware, once you start doing them you are going to be hooked!

Hi Patryce! Welcome!

If you're already familiar with step aerobics, then you may be able to jump right in with some of Cathe's intermediate workouts. The Body Blast series is awesome, and a lot of fun. There's a zillion premixes on these dvds that allow you to make the workouts anywhere from easy and short, to hard and long. For a very advanced series, the Intensity Series is amazing. The IMAX2 and Cardio & Weights dvd is probably one of Cathe's most popular.

Great to see you here!

Congrats and welcome!:7
I never had the Basic Step and Body Fusion, though I bet it is great!, because when I discovered Cathe those weren't even made yet. I started with the Cardio Classics DVD and then moved to Cardio Hits. The choreography in Classics is more basic and the intensity is lower than what Cathe does now. And what is so great is that her workouts on these DVDs are broken down into three different step segments, so when I started out I could just do one or two at a time and then made my way up to the entire workouts. She also breaks down her moves in these videos more than she does now, so you learn the moves that you will see her in current videos at a slower pace. Plus, they are totally fun! As long as you can overlook the very outdated clothes, that is.
Hope this helps you and welcome to the board!

Thanks for all the good advice and the welcome messages.
I am now going to take a look at hte recommended videos and purchase them as soon as possible as time is not standing still.
Hopefully all who sent messages will be able to see this response as I am not sure how to respond to all.
