Never ever, ever give up....

there is ALWAYS something in the house with which to create an unclean stress food. Case in point:

Take a slice of whole grain bread...toast said bread in toaster...smother the toasted bread slice with Hershey's syrup...top with miniature marshallows...pop into microwave for a few seconds...WAHLAAAAAA...

I totally blame my DSs and DH for the fact that Hershey's syrup and miniature marshallows are in my house...DSs request them, DH purchases them...unfortunately, when under a great amount of stress, I consume them.

As always, thank you for allowing me this "unfit" post.

Feel free to post your moments of weakness where you scavenge for any unclean "treat" that will supposedly calm your stress...I think I need to know I am "normal"...hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha...ok, help me here...

Who needs toast or graham crackers. Just scarf down the chocolate chops by the handful. For variety, toss in a handful of butterscotch chips.

I go for carbs when stressed. Slice of processed white bread, big gob of mayo on top, salt and pepper. This is more of a fantasy though because the only white bread I ever have in the house is homemade and even that's rare. When I do have it I slather butter all over it.

OOH, I can play this one.

I have made an evil treat out of DH's honey smacks, honey, and hershey's syrup. Just coat, stir, and serve with a spoon.

Then you can eat peanut butter, bread, honey, and hershey's.

Or SF cool whip and hershey's.

Or Hershey's, saltines  and peanutbutter. I hate saltines, but in a moment of weakness, I have given in and made them into a treat. DH had to have them once when I made healthy chili, and we had a box left over. Not pretty.

Ah, the joys of making bad foods out of the crap your DH wants to buy!

Oh my, where do I begin.

It's always chocolate, only the vehicle and add-ons change:

Toasted WW bread, english muffins, white bread, etc, with chocolate and PB, or chocolate and nuts, or chocolate and raisins, or chocolate and PB AND raisins.

OR a grilled chocolate and PB sandwich.

OR a thick slice of french bread, we're talking thick enough to cut a pocket into the bread. Stuff the pocket with chocolate chips and then prepare as you would french toast sprinkled with powdered sugar.

ETA Laurie, raisins are definitely healthy, definitely.

I agree: Desperate times call for desperate measures.

My current fave: Mix pancake batter with a bit of water, microwave for 30 sec. then add spray butter and LOTS of white sugar. MMMM!):9 (Finally had to throw the rest of the box out after I ate almost 1/2 of it)

It used to be a saltine with chocolate chips and marshmallows (microwaved for about 5 seconds) but now I won't let myself keep chocolate chips in the house.

Hee, hee, hee...and I thought I was bad :+ }( ! My absolute fave is a spoonful of PB (or cashew or almond...whatever's in the house), Hershey's syrup, with whipped cream (from the spray can, no less)! It's all the best parts of a sundae on a spoon, without the ice cream...who needs the ice cream, right:p? It's no wonder I've banished the Hershey's and the whipped cream.

My current vice is "Honey Shots"...open mouth, squeeze in honey straight from bottle. Yummy!!! Too bad I can't banish the honey...I use it in cooking quite a bit, oh well.

Take care,

Wendi

Thank you, thank you, thank you and thank you!!!!

I knew my dear Catheites would help me feel some "normalcy" in my behavior. Plus you've given me more ideas when the need arises.

OK, I'm off for a day of clean eating...I promise.:)

Wow, I think that the worst that I've done is take chocolate chips and mix them up with some PB, then eat that with a spoon.
But most of the combos I guess I never even thought of. I must not be very creative.
But, yes, I've come up with my own mix during a desperate time.

Mmmmmmm...this is so making me want some smores. Chocolate and Peanut butter anything is the BEST! Funny how we all reach for some of the same things in different forms

Don't forget cake batter. In my weaker moments I've been known to mix up a box and sit on the couch with the bowl and a big spoon. Hey, some days it's that or crack. :D

For REALLY stressful days, I don't pussyfoot around. I go straight to a chilled bottle of sauvignon blanc, and all the salty snack delights that make it taste sooooo good. }(

If I'm beyond all hope, and have given up, I eat a half gallon of whatever ice cream is in the house.

The grilled PB and chocolate sandwich sounds unbelievable... the "french toast" could be quite divine, as well :D.

Right now I'm doing a candida cleanse, and to put it VERY midly, my food choices are unbelievably restrictive. This thread is making me foam at the mouth.

In my family, my mother did not like to keep "treats" in the house... So I had to be creative from a young age. We always had cranberry sauce in the house, so that spread over as many slices of bread as I could manage was definitely a favorite. I would also slap apple sauce on bread and pour sugar and cinnamon over it. Quite delicious, though many people would prefer butter. Oh, banana sandwiches when we were really desperate. My mother was ironically always the matermind behind these weird things.

She'll also put yogurt on bread slices... hmmmm... seems bread is a theme I keep seeing... :)

wow - thank goodness I don't have a sweet tooth. some of these actually make my stomach hurt. my weakness, and one of the reasons I try to not have it in the house, is cheese - I make a grilled cheese sandwich with a glass of lowfat milk (and then feel guilty). Or, Kraft Mac&Cheese (but I make it w/lowfat milk and Brummel&Brown spread). As a result, I don't keep "junk" in the house, so if I'm that in need - I order out. One shot and you're done (versus having to use up the whole "package")

Jeepers, like I needed more ideas....

Take a marshmallow, squeeze chocolate syrup over top, eat.

Take a square of chocolate, dip it in the peanut butter jar, eat.

Take a square of chocolate, dip it in the Rolo ice cream, eat.

Open up the box of Honey-Nut Cheerios, reach in with your hand, eat.

Make a cake for your family, leave lots of batter in the bowl, eat. Lie about why the cake is so small.

Peel a banana, pour maple syrup over top, eat.

Take a square of chocolate, sandwich between two of your children's "animal crackers", eat.
