Need your advice . . .

Hi, ladies,

This is my 3rd month TTC. My period was due Oct. 24th. I took a PT the Sunday before (Oct. 22nd) and one on Oct. 25th. Both were negative. I still have not started my period, and it is now Oct. 27th. When should I take a PT again? I'm a pretty regular 28-day cycle gal, so this is a little unusual to not get my period this many days past my start day. Is it possible to have so little hCG in my system that it still does not show up on a test? Has this ever happened to anyone?

Oh, and by the way, nothing has been different in my life lately except LESS stress.

Just wanted your advice. Thanks.

Chrissy

I took quite a few tests with each pregnancy, everytime it came back negative, shortly after I got my perod and was not pregant. Each time I was pregnant, I tested positive. I used the early pregnancy ones. The waiting game is awful, but unfortunately, the stress of Ttc may have delayed ovulation, even if you don't think you were stressed. wait a few more days and retest, but prepare yourself that most likely you are not pregnant yet.

Hi Chrissy,

Keep in mind that pregnancy tests vary greatly in how much HCG hormone they can detect. If you are using one of the more expensive early detection tests, then you are probably not pregnant :-( . If you are using one of the cheaper generic brands, then you still have a chance :) . Try again on the 29th, and see what happens. Good luck, and keep us posted!!! Of course, you can only positively conclude you aren't pregnant if you get your period. Otherwise, there's always a chance....

I took several around days 27 and 28 and they were negative. But my period was never late--only sometimes early--so I thought it was strange when it didn't come. I tried again on day 29 and bingo. After several negatives I was pretty casual about the test (didn't even tell my DH I was doing it), so what a surprise it was to see a positive! It was one of the expensive early detection tests too, so it probably should have read positive earlier.

Sigh. Makes me nostalgic!

Either way, keep us posted.

Thank you for all the advice so far. Keep 'em coming. This will be our first pregnancy, so there is so much that I just don't know.

I'm going on day 4 past my period start date, and still no period. Like I said, I'm a 28-day cycle woman. I know because I track my periods every month. This is quite unusual for me, and I haven't been on BC pills for over 3 years.

I have one PT left, and I'm waiting because I'm tired of seeing negative on them. If I'm not pregnant, then something is wrong. I've only skipped a period once in my life, and that was when I was switching BC pills.

Hmm . . . I suppose I can wait a bit longer . . .

Hi Chrissy,

I also kept track of my period and I knew when I was late that I was pregnant. However I tried a few of the EPT tests for about a week and they all said negative. I just had to wait a few more days and finally I got a postitive. Good luck!! Hopefully you will have some great news!!

Hey, everyone,

Well . . .I wish I had different news to report, but I ended up getting my period a week and a half later. Still not quite sure why I was late. Like I said, I'm not an irregular-gal. Oh well, we'll keep trying . . . but thank you so much for asking. That's sooo sweet of you!!!!

:) :7

chrissy, i am sorry that it didn't work out for you this last month...sometimes i can be irregular if i'm stressed or anxious about something..if that's the case (and sometimes trying for a baby can produce anxiety!) just try to reduce stress as much as possible.

good luck this month!:D

Chrissy, I figured you weren't. I am not regular but had months I was conviced the negative on the pregnancy test was wrong but the 2X i was pregnant it gave me a positive right away. It took me 8 months to conceive the first time, but temp. charting really helped. Good luck!
