I know it varies from person to person but, generally speaking, what is the best formula for overall body fat loss? Example: 3 days cardio, 2 days total body weights; 4 days cardio, 2 days total body weights; 2 days cardio, 2 days total body weights, 1 circuit????

Right now, I'm working out 5 days per week. I really like the circuit workouts but am not sure how to incorporate them. I don't want to start a new rotation until I can do everything 100% (waiting for back pain to completely go away) so I just modify and do what I can. I still hate though, to come in blindly and try to pick something day to day.

Thanks,

Kim

Kim, honestly I think you left out the biggest factor for body fat loss. That is your nutrition. You can workout till the cows come home doing any of the above combos but if you are not eating clean it will sabatoge your results.

I understand you are going easy for your back and I think you are smart to let that heal. Do what you can and clean up your eating and it will happen.

I know the nutrition factor is HUGE and I'm working on that, but I wanted to have some kind of plan. I'm thinking maybe:

cardio
cicuit
rest
total body weights
cardio
total body
rest

total body weights

I do stretching/yoga on rest days. How does this look?

Hi Kim. I really started noticing a decrease in body fat when I followed the below generic rotation.

Monday: Off
Tuesday: Upper Body
Wednesday: Cardio
Thursday: Lower Body
Friday: Upper Body
Saturday: Cardio, usually HIIT like an Imax
Sunday: Circuit

Day to day I just pick whatever workout I'm in the mood for. Yesterday I did Imax 2, my favorite; and today I did LIC.

Looks similar to what you have in mind so I would go with that and see if you get any results. Of course, eating good is 85% of the battle, IMO. Following the above rotation and eating clean (w/one cheat meal per week) has really made a difference in regards to body fat.

Take care, Melissa

Thanks so much. That's looks really good because I was going to have to take a rest day tomorrow anyway due to work. I did bootcamp today which was awesome so I could use an extra rest :) I'll start the new schedule on Tuesday!

I did Cathe's Intermediate Rotation for 4 weeks. Just got done yesterday. With a change in my diet (just eating more frequently and eating clean - not 100 % though }( ), I lost 13.5 pounds over the past 4 weeks.

Since you mentioned your back pain, I thought maybe Intermediate might work for starters. If it is too easy you can always replace some workoutswith IMAX, Bootcamp or Drill Max, etc.

It was the perfect rotation for me to get back into exercising again and to not overdo it (I have a tendancy to do too much, too fast, too soon ).

Here is the link to it:

Good luck!

This rotation actually looks pretty good. I have most of the workouts too which is nice. Maybe I'll give this a try.
