Need help on buying a tablet

I only own a desktop and a laptop for computer and no smart phones or tablets, so I know nothing about them. I was wanting to buy a tablet to keep in my workout room to stream Cathe Live and On Demand only. I have it narrowed down to 2 of them but have no idea what some if it means.
#1 - HP stream 7 inch 32GB Windows 8.1 tablet for $100
#2 - Nextbook 7 inch 16GB Quad core for $60. This one states that is have a micro USB 2.0 HDMI port, so I'm assuming that is how I connect it to my tv since I use a regular HDMI for the laptop.
I read reviews for both and they were mostly positive. Any thoughts or suggestions would be great. Also, do I have to buy, other than a mico hdmi cord, anything else for these? Do they use my wireless internet? I hope someone out there can help a very untechy person (if this is a word).

Thanks
Kim

We have 2 iPads, and a Kindle Fire. We like them a lot. If I had to do it over, I would get the iPad Mini, so I could use it as an e-reader as well. The regular iPad can be used as such, but is too big to handle while reading in bed. I never heard of those brands you mentioned. Not sure about cords, we have a wireless router in our house and all the tablets are connected to it, so no cords necessary.

Hope this helps.

Well my husband bought me one, not sure what kind, but it wasn't one of the ones I mentioned. He figured buy a better one while they are on sale. I have wireless in my house, I just need to make sure I can connect it to my tv in my workout room for Cathe live and On Demand. That is basically the only thing I wanted it for. Thanks for responding to my distress call:)
