Need Fashion Advice....Please

Our family is attending a performance of The Lion King this Saturday afternnoon, and I am wondering what to wear??? My DS is wearing a dress shirt, khakis, dress shoes.etc. My DH probably something similar, no tie or jacket. I am trying to figure out what I can wear without overdoing it. I was thinking of wearing a dress for a change, only because we rarely go anywhere that warrants a dress for me!
The dress I am considering is a pink crochet dress with a small shrug jacket. It is not formal by any means, but it is sharp looking, and I have some great sandals that go with it. Is that too dressy??

I would really appreciate any advice from the fashionistas out there.

thx!:)

I think your dress sounds perfect. I bet you'll see everything from jeans and t-shirts to people MUCH more dressed up than you. Your dress sounds really pretty.

I took my boys to see The Lion King in NYC this past winter, and we went dressed casually, but not jeans. Khakis, nice shirt and nice shoes! Shelley's right....you'll see jeans and sneakers there too!

Your dress sounds just fine, but I agree with the others, a dressed up pair of jeans would do perfectly if you don't want to fork out the dough on new togs.

And you could always stop by Burger King for one of those crowns to wear on your head. OK, ok I'm being silly. Sorry

I think you can wear whatever you want (other than formal wear, probably not appropriate for a Sunday afternoon ;-) ). Personally if I'm unsure about a dress code I prefer to risk being overdressed than underdressed.

That said, I think your dress sounds perfect. :)

Thanks everyone, but Beavs really caught me. How did you know we were getting the crowns??}(

I think the fact that there is so much diversity as to what people wear is what throws me. Obviously this is not an everyday thing, and I want my DS to understand that the theatre is a special experience, you know? You just don't do jeans and gum for something you pay this kind of cash for, imo.

Thanks you guys, you helped me feel comfortable about my choice.
It really is pretty, a sheath style right to the knee. Besides, I have to remind my DH that there is a woman that he married, not just a frazzled working mom!:7

Hi Conni! You lucky dogs! I wish we were going. It's playing at Playhouse Square, right? Have a great time. I agree, anything goes as far as dress, from jeans to dressy, sooo wear that cute dress. (Take a pic for us.) DH just might be asking you out on another date REAL SOON! :7 Have FUN!
