Need BC advice

No worries Mama Deb! I could always use bootcamp advice. First & foremost, how I can find a way to enjoy it rather than considering it extreme torture. ;):p:D

This is a permanent procedure but it doesnt mess with the hormones in the body. It called Endometrial Ablation. Basically it destroys the uterine lining preventing pregnancy and a period without affecting hormone levels.

Just an FYI. My doctor told me that ablation should not be used as a form as of birth control. Pregnancy can still occur (although rare) because you are still ovulating. This could result in a tubal pregnancy or other complicated pregnancy if a fertilized egg finds an area of the uterine lining that did not completely scar.

I had a tubal ligation. Insurance paid for it, and I don't have to deal with hormones or anything foreign hanging out inside my body. The surgery was done with two 1cm incisions that didn't even require stitches, just steri strips. I was back to normal within two days. It's a great way to go!

Just DO IT!!!!!!! :D

I've had Paraguard IUD also for about 5 years. No hormones with that one, still ongoing cycles that are more frequent and irregular as I approach menopause as would probably normally occur. IDK, maybe I shoulda gone with Mereno, (based on the no cycle exuberance here) but at least I am good to go til the end of my fertility. No problems noted.

Just an update--saw the doc yesterday. She said an IUD was a terrible option for women who've never had children. She said my cervix is too small & it'd be extremely painful to put it in, akin to labor pains. So she put me on a very low-dose hormone pill. It's called Lo Loestrin. Fairly new, just out in the last year. She said it was perfect for women who're in the "transitional" stage like me, & I could stay on it til I'm 55 with no risk. Which is all fine w/me, but I'd better not gain weight!!!!!!!!!
