Need Advice on Juicing

I've read prior threads about juicing and have some questions.

How many times a day do you juice? Is it filling? I'm always hungry and I'm concerned I won't be satisfied.

I ordered a Healthmaster (can't afford Vitamix) but haven't used it yet. Has anyone used this machine? If so, is it comparable to Vitamix?

I have a Ninja 1000 and love it. I had looked at the Healthmaster but then saw the Ninja and I liked that one better.

I used to juice all the time but I've gotten out of it lately. The foods that I used to juice did fill me up. I would usually use some type of green leafy veg, cucs, carrots, some grapes, some kind of berry once in a while. Times I would also toss in some watermelon or pineapple. Adding an orange always gave it a nice flavor too.

I've found experimenting worked for me. I got some receipe ideas online to get me started. I would normally juice once a day. I read that if you don't drink it right away it's not as good and it looses some of it's nutritional value.

Good Luck juicing!

Hi there,

I've been juicing regularly for about 3+ years. I try to juice almost every day. I've read that juicing 3 X 6 oz/day is ideal. I juice once per day and it's a big glass - at least 16 oz. I now do it in the a.m. before leaving for work and it satisfies more than fills - if that makes sense. My skin has never looked better. Google 'green lemonade' for a great tasting recipe. Cut off the lemon peel (if you want the drink less tart - experiment with/without peel). To make it easy - I put a plastic bag in the bucket to catch all the pulp and I clean everything up quickly before I drink my juice (you just don't want to go back to the mess!). Start to finish, juicing takes me 15 minutes/day. Juicing on an empty stomach is ideal - and a double juice is even better!!!! Gets rid of that bulky holiday eating. I'm a fan and don't think I'll ever give it up. I juice vegetables I've never eaten before - raw or cooked. I own a Breville. It's pretty good. There are better models that are way more expensive and likely worth the money.

Good luck. I hope this helps a bit.

CeceFifi,

Does your machine make a mess while in use (splatter, drip, etc.)? Are you able to juice greens?

Hi there

No my juicer doesn't make a mess at all. Putting a small bag in the bucket helps immensely with clean up. A small scrub brush helps too. Wear an apron cos veg juice stains.

I LOVE my juice and crave it every AM. I make a quart of juice first thing in the AM, drink 1/2, then drink the rest for a PM snack. I have the Omega 8006. It's a masticating juicer and will juice greens. I also have a Vitamix, but that is not a juicer...you can make great smoothies and myriad other things with it. When I first got my Vitamix, I drank green smoothies often. Now I prefer my greens juiced. Good luck w/your purchase. I think you'll be quite pleased. :)
