Need advice on a lower body workout!

I just bought a pair of Hotskins shorts, tried them on and cringed when I saw my legs! I always thought my legs looked pretty good following years of running and stepping, but I can clearly see I was deluding myself! I want to lose a couple of inches in my thighs and was wondering what workouts are good for slimming down that area. I have a ton of exercise videos, including all of Cathe's, so whatever you recommend I probably already have. I've never done Meaner Legs, and PSLegs was only attempted once. As you can see, I don't like to do lower body workouts! Also, my knees start to bother me if I do too many squats and lunges, and I have a lower back problem, so I can't be hoisting a 50 pound barbell on my shoulders! BTW, I have a small build and don't have any major weight to lose, except in my thighs! I would appreciate any advice!

Leslie,
I do MIS and Power Hour, I have never lifted a 50 lb barbell, I haven't gond any higher than about 40, usually only 35 lbs, over the past 5 1/2 months I have been exercising, I have been lifting weight since the middle of May, so in those past 5 1/2 months I have lost 27 lbs. I was bumping a size 10 levis, and now am going into a size 4 ... you can do it :7 :7 ... wish you all the best ... Rhonda :7

p.s. I don't do 35 lbs for everthing, 25 lbs for crazy eights, and 20 over head, my shoulders need work :7 .... plus that I have a slight curve in my back, that shows up when I am lifting weights over my head.

Leslie if you have the PLB, they have a section where you do floor work with a stability ball which really is a great leg killer. Also if you don't have the stability ball of course Cathe has someone modifying the ball. Hope this helps;-)

Hmm... I can't really make fair assessments due to your lower back and knees, as I am not a PT or expert by any means. However, doing Imax 2x's a week for 8 weeks really improved my lower body. You are only using your body weight as resistance, but the mixture of the high intensity cardio (which increase the metabolism) and the plyometric movements really did a lot as far as toning and strengthening my lower body. Another suggestion is leg lifts & leg chutes with ankle weights and floor work using a stability ball (if you have one). Do Imax, or another super intense cardio workout, followed by the floor work from PS SL&A. Also, some Catheites say Leaner Legs is great when done without weights, really focusing on the contractions. You might want to try that too.

Great suggestions! Thanks everyone! I have a stability ball which I use for core work so I'll try it. I'm back to doing Cathe after a hiatus because of my back injury. I'm not up to doing hi/lo yet but I have done the IMAX's with major modifications. Kickboxing is also out, which I'm bummed about because I know it's great for shaping the legs. I guess I'll focus on floor work, which is also good for balancing out the muscles that can get overused from doing too much stepping and standing leg work.

BTW, I remember that stability ball leg work on PLB! I remember doing it with tears in my eyes because I was in so much pain. It was a good pain though!
