Hey you guys, I just wanted to share a workout I did today that felt GREAT!! I know you both like Jay's "Precision Cycling" tape. I love the tape too but I always feel like something is missing when I finish it. I think it is the shortness of the tape??? Anyways, today I decided to do the whole tape as is up to the cool-down and then I rewound it back to the beginning of the team intervals and the last hill climb and redid them AGAIN! Whew! http://www.mpz.co.uk/cwm/cwm/cwm/blah.gif I sure didn't feel like I was missing something today! It took the workout to 55 minutes not including the cool down. Also, I have implemented back pedaling on the 2-4 minute recovery periods. I have not found any info anywhere if back pedaling is BAD for your bike?? I am going to E-mail Jay and maybe Mindy too to see if they have an opionion on this. I just feel like it works the back of my thighs and hamstrings better. Okay, I know I am rambling but I knew you both liked Jay's tape. Erica, how is your injury? Are you back to jogging/spinning? Also, were you able to find the part you needed for your bike? Let me know if not & I'll check to see if my store can get it for you. Happy Spinning!

Hi Debbie!

Are you CRAZY???? When Jay's tape is over I am happy and relieved - I would never think of rewinding it and doing more - especially not at the intervals!!!!! :-tired The workout is a little short - I usually just added on my own spinning workout while watching tv or reading, but at a steady moderate pace.
My injury is pretty good, but now I think I am starting to get Achilles tendonitis from running too many days in a row, so I am being careful.
No part for my spinning bike yet and I really, really, really, really miss spinning. One of my emails to the company with specific information about what I needed was never delivered and the company isn't all that cooperative anyway. Ron really thinks I am not going to get the part, but I don't even want to think about it. :-(
Glad that the back pedaling is working out for you!!
Have fun babysitting Kennedy this weekend!! :)
Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Too funny!

I'm with Erica...what, are you crazy?! LOL And that's coming from two intensity junkies;-)

Debbie, I haven't been spinning in a while but I plan to get hot on it soon. I just picked up new insoles for my spinning shoes and I'm changing my pedals again so I have the option to clip on one side and not clip on the other. Right now it's set up for spin shoes only and I want to be able to hop on for intervals when doing floor cardio.

I will remember that tip though;-)..but I think I need to work up to it. Erica..glad to see you are healing, I know how much you like to workout and any injury that slows you down has got to be a bummer. Hope the bike is fixed soon too.. when it is, we'll have to give Debbies rerun combo try.

OH! and Debbie...tip on going backwards is good to know..and glad to hear StarTrac said it was OK:)..I'll have to incorporate that in as well. I loved using the reverse mode on the crosstrainers at the gym and never thought about doing that on the bikes!:7

Who knows???

Maybe, I was having an adrenaline rush yesterday! LOL! I love those team intervals and I guess just knowing that they are only one minute long makes me push REALLY HARD!! I am sure you both could keep right up there with me!

Erica~Sorry to hear about your achilles now. :-( Boy, you have had a rough year. I feel so bad for you. Take it easy with that running and be sure to get back to me if you want me to try to locate that part for you.

Nancy~What is the idea of being clipped in with just one shoe? Also, do you have to have special shoes to "clip in"? I just wear plain ole x-trainers. I love my bike and I have really been neglecting it lately. I BETTER use it after spending all those $$$!!

Also, I just receieved an E-mail from StarTrac today (a response to me from E-mailing them yesterday asking about pedaling backwards). Here is what the Technical Support Representative wrote back:

Debbie, Pedaling backwards will possibly loosen the pedals, so make sure you tighten the pedals and crank arms every so often so they do not get loose. Also, do not overtighten the brake and use the bike for a stretching machine as this may break the chain, pedals or crank arms.

Are you still awake? :-sleepy Just thought you'd like to know that. Nancy, I'll check into spinning shoes. Thanks guys, good to hear from you both!

Watch those pedals!

My bike isn't a StarTrac, but my pedal is the part that broke on my bike. It was loose and I didn't know it and continued using it until both the pedal and the bracket that holds it were totally messed up. Actually, I did feel that it was loose after a while, but I kept riding it anyway - big mistake. So, anyway, to make a long story longer :), be really careful to keep those pedals tight!!
Debbie - thanks for the offer to get the part, but my bike is a Pro Go, and it seems that only one store carries that brand - we are still working with them to see if we can get the part.
Oh - and my achilles is feeling better. I was icing and stretching and that helped, but realized I needed new running shoes (DUH) and that made all the difference!!! :)
