My son thinks eating nutritiously is an eating disorder...

You ladies are all so great. I feel better knowing that I'm not the only "freak" out there.

Heather, I am so sorry to hear about your son's disease. Is it something he can possibly grow out of to some extent? I have another son with many food allergies and it's hard keeping track of it all. I can't imagine a child not being able to eat any food at all. It must be terribly hard for you too. I will absolutely tell my son about this so that he may appreciate his yucky food a little more.

Best wishes!

Michelle

Hi Michelle,
thanks for the best wishes. The disease that my son has is a lifetime thing kind of like diabetes, where you manage it by avoidance. Avoidance in his case is food and environmental allergens like grass, trees, dust, mold, etc. Hopefully one day we will be able to find a food he can tolerate, but haven't yet. It's mind-boggling. He is a very strong boy though and takes it well for the most part. The hardest part is when he tries a new food(which is not very often - we've only done 4 trials in 2 1/2 years), likes the taste and then we have to stop.

I hope your son is not still giving you a hard time about the food. I know it's hard to keep things healthy in this society of junk food eaters. Good luck.

Heather
