My most recent running success/results!

First, thank you to all who respond to the running questions that a few of us post here so often. They really help.

I had my 4 mile race this morning. Anxiety and nerves were getting to me last night, but I got to bed early and got over 9 hours' sleep! I ran with my younger DS during his 1 mile Kids' Run and used that as my warm up and can I jsut say what a GREAT idea that was to do that!

I set my goal time for my 4 miles at 34 minutes (shooting for 9:00 miles for miles 1 & 2 and 8:00 miles for 3 & 4). Well, came in at 31:40!!!!! Kicked butt again. I placed 3rd in my age group and earned a gift cert for my running store!

Legs felt great, heart was NOT in my throat and I felt SUPER STRONG! I passed SO MANY PEOPLE on the hills (and there were quite a few). I just kept thinking that each hill was an IMax interval and that every downhill or flat surface was the cool down or step combo section! LOL

THANK YOU to all who offer running advice, help and support (OH...and to everybody with ALL the advice, help and support).

I am NOW OFFICIALLY considering myself a RUNNER!!!!!!!!!!

Gayle

p.s. THANKS for letting me brag for a few moments!

Gayle!!! That is so awesome!! Just reading your description put my heart in my throat:7 I loved your comparison to hills and Imaxes, I do the exact same thing myself (sometimes I even tell myself, well at least this is a little better than plie jacks}( )

Gayle, wonderful. Give yourself a great big pat on the back. I'm so impressed with all you runners. And you certainly are one! Best wishes for your racing future.

Gayle, your results are great!!! Congratulations on beating your goal time by more than 2 minutes. Good work.

Geeze Gayle....anyone that completes a marathon is for sure a runner to me!!...(lots of runners I know don't even do that!) http://sc.groups.msn.com/tn/5C/51/AnotherSweepersCorner/8/7d.jpg[/img] on getting 3rd in your age group! And really an awesome pace girl...:)...so what will you get with the gift certificate????

Thanks, guys! I'm on such a high today and my running resolve is renewed (not that it was lacking at all, but sometimes you just wonder if you're actually GETTING anywhere, lol)!

Jeany-Zachary ran the mile, most of it. LOL. His first complaint was that his "heart hurt". LOL. Gave me a good chuckle. Then his legs started itching. Then he just plain sat down on the sidewalk and said he needed a break! LOL. Poor kid! Didn't really know the meaning of A MILE till right then. He finished, though, and that's what counts.

Jacob on the other hand did not run, but he really regretted it and said he wants to run "every single kids race from now on". (his words). Gotta LOVE the good habits wearing off onto our kids.

Carole-I think I'm saving the gift certificate to go toward my next pair of running sneakers. LOVE IT!

Thanks again!

Gayle

Congratulations!! So very cool, Gayle! What an awsome run and thanks for the inspiring story. I belted out a big "YAY" to screen after I read your post! Way to go!

Thomasina :)

Thanks again. Sometimes I feel weird posting my results and successes, because I feel bad that I simply can't reply to as many other posts as I'd like.

THANKS!

Gayle
