My mom is turning 60 in July and I'd like to have something for her. A suprise party. My great aunt (who mom is pretty close with) said she'd help out with money or providing stuff. Problem: my mom, the 2 sisters and brother kind of don't get along and I don't know if she'd even want the 2 sisters there. If I invite them all it would be a total of approx. 45 people. I don't think my house is big enough for that many plus providing the food. Even if they went outside it would still be cramed. BUT if I only invite the one brother (who my mom like's and lives near) and his kids - and their kids the total would be only about 16 and I could have it at my house but then the others would get offended that I didn't invite them (even though they probably wouldn't come. I know it's terrible to say but I can't stand my cousins' kids. They are so wild and destructive.
So here are my options:
Invite them all (even though not all would probably come) and have it at a restaurant in a reserved room and they all pay for their own. (Is that rude to ask???)
Invite only the few, have it at my house, provide the food, and probably risk offending the others.
What are your opinions?
