My hip gave out when I got out of bed!

Well, THIS freaked me out...I got out of bed at 4:00 this morning to go help my crying 2 year old, only I never made it. I stood up and my left hip sort of turned to jelly and couldn't support my weight. So I dropped to my knees (no choice) but couldn't even kneel. Landed on my butt, climbed back into bed and nudged my husband awake so he could help our son.

My hip's fine now, but what the heck? Does this sort of thing happen if one sleeps in the wrong position? Or can this happen while one is, say, walking across the street?

Has this happened to anyone?

That's happened to me before when I've slept funny on my leg. It's never happened to me walking across the street;)

Thanks, Shelley. I guess while lying awake at 4 am I tortured myself with nightmares of carrying a child across a busy intersection and having to drop on my butt just as a semi approaches.

(I'm a worrier) ;-)

In the dark of night, my imagination's a wicked thing! One way I try to shut it off is to count backwards from 100 over and over again in my mind. Oh, this is TMI, I'm acting like this is my personal journal for mundane details about the inner workings of my mind. Like, who CARES? Sorry, everybody, LOL!

I've had something like this happen once. I woke up to go to the bathroom and went right to floor. I recall my quad feeling tingly like it was asleep and then coming back to normal when I moved my leg around.

I think I just slept funny and it went to sleep.
