my floor is not securely carpeted

i am not sure how to explain it. it sorta feels like some parts of my carpet are thicker than others so some areas i step on seem lower than others. would a puzzlemat help? i feel a differnce every time i walk. i dont want an accident to happen like sprain my ankle when doing cardio.

Sounds like maybe the padding is wearing down in some areas (which would make for low spots)?

Puzzle mats may help, if the low spots are small. If they are bigger areas, I would think perhaps the puzzle mats aren't firm enough to not bend themselves somewhat.

I don't think foam mats will solve your problem. The foam mats that are on the thinner carpet areas will sink lower than the other areas. Also, on my mat package it stated that the mats could have a variance of 1 to 2 mm from each other. It may not seem like much but this differance can be seen, so on an uneven floor even more so.

I recently pulled up the carpeting in my workout room and replaced just about the entire room with mats. I didn't realize how unstable the flooring was when the mats were on carpeting. I had been doing this for years and years. Now that's it on a solid sub floor I feel such a difference. Now the flooring feels so stable.

I'm not sure puzzle mats would help. I put puzzle mats down over carpeting (The carpet was even, but it is in the basement over concrete and I wanted a cushier surface) I'm not happy with the puzzle mats at all because they keep sliding while I'm exercising, and I almost feel less secure because it's taking my focus away because I'm constantly annoyed by the slippage. I'm in the process of trying to find a solution to the problem.

Short of changing your flooring, I'm not sure what the answer is. Sorry I was no help, but good luck!

I use to have this same problem, too. My solution was to rip up the carpeting, but I know that it's not an option that we all can just do.

How about duct taping all the piece together on the back side?

Maybe you could place one of those rubbery things that ones places under a carpet to prevent sliding on a hardwood surface. I don't think the rubbery surface will slide on the carpet part and this might help keep the mats in place.
OR
Try double sided carpet tape.

Good luck!
