My First 5K Run

Hi everyone,
I don't post much but do read the forums frequently.

I can't believe I did it but I trained "faithfully" for 8 weeks and ran my first 5K yesterday at the RiverBank Run in Grand Rapids, MI with a chip time of 25 minutes:40 seconds. I couldn't believe the thousands of people that were there to run.

I'm very happy with my accomplishment. When I first started training I thought there was no way I would be able to finish; since the first day of training stated: Run 1 minute/walk 1 minute for 20 minutes and it was hard!!

This morning, I was checking out another 5K race over Memorial Day weekend! I haven't worked out with Cathe's workouts as much while training and I certainly do miss them.

Thanks for reading.

http://bestsmileys.com/textinbubble2/19.gif[/img] Patti!! That is a great time for your first 5K. You should be very happy...:)....if you get a chance to be here more there is a Runners check-in in the Check-ins & Challenges area with alot of great and helpful runners of all different levels of experience. Would be fun to have you check-in with us...

Congratulations! I was tempted to try a 5K a couple weeks ago... but I'm just too slow. But I'm hoping that maybe in a few months, I'll be able to give it a try. 25 mins/40 secs is awesome!

Patti, that is great! Congratulations to you! That time is awesome. You did a great job. So, when is your next race }( ?

Hi there Patti! Running is a wonderful addiction, isn't it? :7 :7
A big congratulations to you on a fabulous time on your 5k...and already scouting out other ones too. This is only the beginning:eek:
I want to second what Carole said about joining us on the Runner's check in. It really keeps you motivated!

Congrats again!

pattie awesome time!! I cant believe that was your first race. sounds like your a natural. again great job!

Thanks everyone.

I ran in high school but it's been many, many years since then! lol I kept telling myself that as soon as this (yesterday's) race was done, I'm going back to doing more aerobics; I miss my "step".

There's a race Memorial Day weekend that I'm checking into; especially since it's less than 2 weeks away!

CONGRATULATIONS Patti, on an awesome run and an excellent time! It's great to hear you are signing up for another in a few weeks!! GREAT JOB!!

congrats Patti!! I ran my first today too, and was so nervous about not being able to finish, but i did in 28 minutes!! I had my 12 yr old daughter with me who complained the whole way, so I didn't run my normal speed, i'm sure i could do better. She completely took me by surprise because she has been such a track person this year and went to districts and everything.
I found the atmosphere to be exhilirating!! So much fun, i'm scouting out more as well!
