Must share my workout...

I'm in my fifth month of pregnancy and while I'm keeping up with my workouts...I've been missing my Cathe workouts desperately. Well, I was reading some old posts and came across someone who posted a message about doing Cathe with no step at all...she just did the choreography right on the floor. What a concept, I thought. I'll give it a shot.

So tonight, I did Bodymax with no step and very light weights during the circuit training section. Viola! The ideal workout! It was such a BLAST. I was smiling ear to ear the entire time having fun with Cathe again!! My heartrate was perfectly in zone the entire time and with a few minor modifications, I was sweating and so happy to have found a way to bring Cathe back into my rotation!

I must admit, it even increases my hope that Cathe will to do a pregnancy workout. I can't imagine how incredible it would be to workout with a beautiful, pregnant Cathe! I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I forget the log-on name of the brilliant woman who suggested it...but if you are out there...thank you!! Next, I'm going to try it with Powermax.

Hi Candori,
out of curiosity why can't we do cathe videos?
I ask because just today I did stepworks on a 6 inch step of course with some modifications( no jumps)and I felt fine I am 1 week away from 5 months so I am wondering why or who told you that we had to take cathe out.
I want to know just in case I am doing something wrong I love Cathe but I don't want to hurt the baby.

Hi Candoori-
I am due in 4 weeks and have been doing the same thing you have as far as doing the hard parts of Cathe's workouts on the floor!!! You are exactly right, it works out pretty well..

What do you substitute for jumping jacks? I just do some squats, and that seems to be appropriate.

It's not that you shouldn't do Cathe...

I just found that my heartrate got a little too high and I was getting too carried away with the high impact. I think it's an individual thing...whatever you are comfortable with. I find that I get winded quickly when I put in those Cathe tapes, so I'm happy to find this alternative.

I did CTX All Step this morning. Now I'm thinking that I'll do a CTX rotation for the next few weeks with the appropriate modifications. It feels good to be back in the Cathe loop!

Wish I would have thought of this before!

Me too!

I usually substitute squats for jacks or I'll that "low and wide" side step move with big arm movements. Whatever fits in.

4 weeks away!!!! How exciting. Keep us posted.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-01-01 AT 09:55PM (Est)[p]Hi candori,
I hope I did not come across offensive,I sincerely am struggling with my workouts this is my 3rd pregnancy but my first while I am exercising and I really don't know what is good what is not .
So I was just asking out of curiosity and advice but if it came across the wrong way I sincerely apologize.
What do you do as far as strenghth training again because we are almost due about the same time I'm wondering what to do for weights right now I am doing bodymax the upper body section only but would like to throw something else in there.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Marisol

Hi Marisol!

...you didn't come across offensive in the least, so please don't apologize.

I think everyone and every pregnancy is different, so I just do what feels good. Some people can do Cathe tapes all the way through. Every day is different for me. I tried Circuit Max this morning, but I had to modify A LOT. It moves a little too quickly. It was a great workout...but I might put that one back on the shelf for now.

As far as strength training, I've been doing MIS and the Wedding weight section with moderate weights. I also like doing FIRM workouts and Karen Voight tapes. Both use weights in different ways, are easy to modify to low impact and keep my heartrate in the perfect zone.

I think I'm going to try an all CTX rotation for the next few weeks...so I'll get some weight training one body part at a time. I haven't tried Leaner Legs for months...so I'll see how that goes.

I'm just trying to move, move, move and stay as fit as possible. When are you due?

Hi Marisol..

I have been doing strength training throughout my pregnancy.. I have done all of Cathe's tapes.. the PS series, CTX series, etc. (except for the new ones.. I have them but am waiting til after the baby is born ) .. I have just lightened up the weights and/or switched from a barbell to dumbells, esp in chest bench work and leg work. I would verify with your doctor to make sure it is OK, but its worked splendidly for me.
Good Luck..
Lynn
9/29 due date

RE: It's not that you shouldn't do Cathe...

Hi Marisol. Just wanted to add that I'm still doing Cathe, also. I agree with the others - I think you should do what you're comfortable with. I was getting most of my cardio by running through about week 25 (I'm 29 weeks now, and really miss it) and have been using the elliptical or bike since then. I know other women that have run and/or done Cathe up to the day they delivered -- it really has to do with how YOU feel.

As for strength, I was doing a PS rotation at the beginning of my pregnancy, then did MIS, moved to a FIRM rotation next, and am now doing a Power Hour rotation. So those are just some ideas of tapes to do. I found that I really didn't need to make any modifications until about 26 weeks and now am just doing what feels right. And some days are "stronger" than others, but I always feel so much better once I start my workout!

Keep up the good work!

RE: Hi Candori !

I am due Jan.29th although the ultrasound is givivg me a jan 16th date so I am not sure.
When are you due?

How funny...

My ultrasound said January 16th too! Though that little wheel that the doc uses says the 21st. My doctor said not to focus on the due "date" and just use a general "timeframe" because so many women shoot for that date and then the day afterwards they are fed up with being pregnant.

Is this your first? Boy or girl?

Every time I see your log in, I think of my dad...his name is Mari. Marino to be exact.

RE: How funny...

Can you imagine maybe we will be posting announcments at the same time(he-he)
This is actually my 3rd and I have 1 boy and 1 girl so I'm ok with whatever this one is(although girls clothes are soooo cute)
I have a ultrasound a week from now hopefully I will find out then.
Did you find out the sex of your baby?
