music for aerobic instructors

I really could use some advice from some of you experts. I would like to know what kind of music you all are using for your step, high-lo, and kidkboxing classes. I am a new teacher and am at a loss. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi, Ann in Germany!

You may want to visit some websites for music companies that specialize in fitness music: Power Music; Dynamix; Muscle Mixes. I'm most familiar with Power Music (www.powermusic.com), and the way their website is arranged, you can view the music collections organized by exercise mode (hi/lo, step, super-step, sports conditioning, kickboxing, aqua, spinning, interval and circuit, etc.). Not only can you get a feel for the genres of music you personally prefer, you can also get a feel for the appropriate speeds of music that are safe and effective for the modes you're teaching (you do not want a souped-up, fast paced speed appropriate for hi-impact in your kickboxing or step class for example, and vice versa).

I'm sorry I don't know the website addresses for the others I've mentions (and there are many, many others), but this one might give you a start.

Good luck!

Annette

My two favorites are Powermusic and MusicFlex. I also have a ton from Dynamix, they seem to be the most plentiful. My class requests my MusicFlex tapes over and over. I don't have that happening with any other company's tapes.
