muscle program books

Hi, have a question for the educated crowd so to speak.

I have been looking at two books on line at megafitness.

Strength training fo women by: Lori Incledon

Sculpting her body perfect 2nd edition by: Brad Schoenfeld.

Is either one a great buy? Are they good for personal trainors ?
Any info would be great thanks, :)

Brigitte

I ordered the 'strength training for women" book, but don't have it yet.
I had the "Sculpting her body perfect" book, and got rid of it. Quite a few exercises that have more risk than benefit, and whacky advice, like wearing high heels to work the calves (yeah...to SHORTEN the calves and the achilles tendon, and make them too tight!). As I always do with my fitness books, underlined, and took notes, and basically annotated is as I read, and I had an aweful lot of "NO!" notes, especially near the photos showing bad form on the exercises. I was very disappointed, because the book is by a publisher that I usually find quite reliable for strength training advice.

A better "women's-oriented" weight training book is "The Body Sculpting Bible for Women" by James Millpigue and Hugo Rivera.

But, since muscle is muscle, don't forget the books geared towards men. Some of them reek a bit too much of testosterone (slighty sexist remarks, etc.) but "Men's Health" has a lot of good titles.

Thank-you Kathryn,

I saw you were on line, and was hoping you would have some helpful
info. I'll check those ones out too, let me know what you think of the
strength training for women, please:)
Thanks again, Brigitte

Hi, Brigitte.
I got, and read, the "Strength Training for Women" book.
Not a lot of new info for me, but it's all good info, IMO, and well-written and organized.
Treats some things (like the front-to-back body imbalance that many strength training programs can make worse) and has good info for beginners, intermeiates and advanced.
I definitely recommend it.

Thanks for the feed back Kathryn

The book sounds great, and I have friend personal trainor
at our gym that has been experiencing back problems.
Her doctor said it was due to a strength imbalance, she
taught alot of pilates classes and I think over looked her
back somewhat while strenght training.

The library in my area said I can request books,
I'm going to see if they can get a hold of a few
of these titles.

Thanks again
Brigitte :) :)
