MP3 confusion

I have a Creative Muvo MP3 player and would like to download songs by just paying 99 cents per song. I can't get itunes to work with my MP3 player and realplayer charges extra to put the songs in mp3 player form. I'm willing to buy a Nano if I have to, but only as a last resort. not.

For those who have ipods, can you get tunes by just paying per song? Without any membership fee? For those with other brands, do you know where I can get songs and just pay by the song with no hidden extra fees?

Thanks.

my DH downloads songs from itunes and burns them to a cd. he then has to rip them from the cd to mp3 format. It's a bit of a pain but he hasn't found anything else that works well.

Let me ask a simpler question: If you use itunes, can you tell me whether there are any charges in addition to the per song charges? Is there a monthly/yearly/whatever subscription charge?

thanks.

nancy........i am so not a techie, so i cannot answer if your mpa will work with musicmatch. i have a dell jukebox, and it worked well with both sites i had mentioned. i paid a 19 yr old kid from work to come to my house and explain my set up and download process.......i am a geek!:p

RE: To Nancy,

I just saw this thread and agree with Connie. I purchase songs only when I'm not interested in the whole CD. The nice part about iTunes is that you can listen to the music before you purchase. I'm not sure if that's how all "music stores" are?

I used to create playlists and then burn them to a CD, so I can listen to the songs in the car It's so easy. However, my dh bought me this adaptor for the car and now all I have to do is plug my iPod into it and I have music! Love that!

Good luck!

PS. I just purchased my dh the iPod with the video feature. He can download some of his shows from Tivo and watch them while doing cardio at the gym! Isn't that cool? Don't ask me how to do it, but he'll know how.

Mar,

I recently purchased Vol 2 from Cardio Coach and remember being a tad bit confused. However, I went back and read the directions they provided very carefully and it worked perfectly. You can always e-mail them and they can help you.

See..........this is precisely why I am having a hard time with whether I should even bother getting a new MP3. I had the same issues with my NIKE MP3 and couldn't figure out, for the life of me, how to change my music to the right format so it would download onto the player. I think it is all so confusing. I love the idea of an MP3/IPOD but I HATE having to deal with the technology and, unfortunately, DH is as clueless as I. Can I pay someone, LOL????? I sooooo desperately want some music to take to the gym. I think if I had some good tunes my motivation would go waaaaaayyy up. I can't remember the last time I listened to music when working out...:(

i think your problem is trying to use itunes for a non ipod mp3... just like it's a "problem" to use napster or walmart music for an ipod... you have to buy the track... download/burn to a cd..... then rip it back to your computer... UGH!

i originally used napster and walmart music when i had a rio carbon... easy.... just pay... download.. put on player...

then i got an ipod... had to burn ALL my songs from napster and walmart music to cd... rip them into itunes software... label them all (song title, artist, etc)...

a ROYAL pain! HOWEVER.... using itunes with an ipod means just buying the track... downloading it.. and "dragging" it to the ipod...

soooooo if you are adament about using itunes... and want the easiest way.. then ya... get a nano... if you don't mind the copying/labeling/etc... then ok (i hated it but had a 50 song brand new card on top of what i had already purchased!

also... for napster.. if you don't want to use a credit card online.. just pick up a card/cards at best buy (and probably circuit city)... walmart music is cheaper... only .88 a song.... (but they don't have cards that i know of)

also... as someone already mentioned... no membership on itunes.. i buy the cards at best buy for them... napster doesn't have to be the membership.. you can download single songs for .99.... i never had the membership when i used them... just paid for each song with the cards!

Okay, so long story short, for my Creative Muvo mp3 player I should find a website called napster or walmart and I can buy songs and put them directly onto my player? And it only costs 99 cents per song, no subscription fees? Do I have that right?
