Moving!! Help me workout!!

Cathlete
Hey, I am finally getting ready to do our big drive cross country with my family to our new home in Arizona. I have already missed too many workout days this week and last week due to being just too busy with last minute moving stuff. I am taking a portable DVD player, can someone suggest a good couple of dvds to bring...I have a lot of Cathe, but not all on dvd yet. I am not going to be able to bring with me any equipment, besides maybe bands and won't get the rest of my gear until almost a good week and half after I acutally get to AZ. Part of me just wants to call the next couple of weeks a rest period, the other half of me is so upset that I will be off my usual routine. Should I just use this as a break?? Help!!
Donna, bye Va, hello AZ

Hi Donna! Actually, a week off each year does the body good. You probably are getting some workout just packing and lifting boxes. I would not worry too much. You won't lose that much in a couple weeks time. I will go find the "Vacation Workout" that Cathe posted one time. It is a great lil' workout that you can do with just a small set of dumbbells or you can do it without and maybe sub in your dynaband. I'll be back. Good Luck and how FUN that you get to move to AZ!!! Happy and safe travels!

I'm back! I forgot to ask if you had any kickbox workouts or any of Cathe's Hi/Lo workouts? Those do not require any equipment. Here is the vacation workout. I have done it before and it is a worker!!!

25 minutes a morning is all you need to maintain enough so that when you come back you will not feel out of the loop. Bring one set of moderate pound dumbbells (5 or 8 pounds)Here is a sample two week vacation workout:

Monday/Wednesday/Friday

a) Warm Up:
5 minute brisk walk

b) Legs:
Leg Blast:
30 seconds non-weighted squats
30 seconds plyo jacks
30 seconds squats/ with dumbbells in hands
30 seconds front kicks (no dumbells)
30 seconds side kicks (no dumbbells)

Forward lunges (with dumbbells)....3 sets 15 reps (Rt leg 15 / Left leg 15 then do the next set).

Back lunges (with dumbbells).....Same reps/sets as forward lunges.

c) Torso/Arms
Chest: 3 sets of 10 push ups...On last rep of last set hold push up 1/2 way down for 20 seconds.

Back: One arm dumbbell rows (put both weights in one hand) do 3 sets of 15 reps per arm.

Biceps: Concentration curls (put both weights in one arm)do 3 sets of 15 reps.

Triceps: ALTERNATE one set of dips (15 reps) with one set of double arm kickbacks (do as many as you can with that weight and good form). Do three alternating sets.

Shoulders: Seated bent arm side lateral raises (10 reps) right into rear delt flys (as many as you can with that weight and good form). Do three alternating sets.

Abs: traditional crunches for 3 minutes and then flip over and hold a one minute plank

Stretch

Tues/Thursday/Saturday

A 25 minute walk/run (this includes 5 minute brisk walk warm up and three minute stretch)

Bon Voyage

I'm so glad dpiglet asked you about this. I am going on vacation in a couple weeks and am glad to see the workout you posted.

Thanks,

Diana

Hey Debbie! That workout sounds perfect!! It is funny, Cathe has sooo spoiled me....I like to workout without really thinking about it..just pop the tape in and go to it, you know?? But after I posted this morning, I did realize that I could take Kickmax with me, and I have a great core tape....Killer abs and back, I'll take a couple of bands and all will be well. Our temporary apartment has a nice gym....so once we get there, I'll be able to use the bike for cardio and use your creation for my weight work. Thanks so much!! Now I'm off to print out your post!!
