More Stupid People (animal related)

Yesterday I stepped by our neighborhood pet supply store, for some treats for my girls. The store had two puppies for sale, one pug and a terrier of some sort. (this isn't a puppy mill place--they only sell purebreds from local and reputable breeders, and they rarely have more than four puppies at a time.)

Anyway, I was playing with them and this little boy and his mom started looking at them and playing with them, too. She said something about having a Pomeranian and how much it had cost, I said, "Yeah, well I usually just find my pets on the highway. It seems like people are always thowing out animals." The little boy looked at his mom and said, "Remember when Grandma took those 11 kittens and dropped them on the side of the road and drove off?" His mother said something like she didn't remember it. I asked the kid, "Well, did she get the mother cat fixed after that happened?" His mom said, "No, she doesn't have that cat anymore." I replied, "Thank God!" and left.

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Sometimes, I wish human euthanasia were legal (instead of euthanizing animals, you'd euthanize irresponsible owners---like grandma.)

It's not a pet store. The only animals they really specialize in are fish. They mostly sell products - aquariums, food, treats, leashes, dog houses, toys, etc. While they just started selling purebred puppies in the last few months, for years they have allowed non-profit rescue groups to use the facilities for pet adoption on the weekends.

The family has owned this store for over 25 years and would never risk their great reputation among animal lovers in the community by dealing with unethical breeders.

I think we should consider a mandatory spay/neuter program for humans. That would eliminate a lot of these issues... }(

I'm with Kathryn on this one. Animals sure get the short end of the straw--if their owner can't take care of them and no one adopts them, they're put down. How about irresponsible owners are put down? I know it's harsh, but I'm just sooooo tired of hearing about animal cruelty. In my eyes, it's no different from cruelty (murder, abondonment, abuse) among humans.
