More Pop-Ups?

I know this question was posted on the Ask Cathe forum, but I'm just wondering has anyone noticed more annoying pop-ups within the last week or so? Everytime you hit this website? Just curious?

yes, I have these random pop-ups since about a week or so maybe? Which I didn't use to have. I have been running Ad-aware and Spybot daily now (usually only about once a week), and Norton does it's regular daily scan, but I can't seem to get rid of them. I have deleted all my cookies and emptied my Temp file and Temporary Internet files. They still pop up. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi,

I got rid of AOL recently because of popups. I have McAfee and just updated my spywear which seems to have stopped the popups, but yes I was getting several every time. I periodically scan for viruses and remove the unwanted programs; mine isn't set to scan automatically.

YES!! Pop ups galore since about last thursday.
I updated my spywear and run two different ones, they remove stuff, but it seems to come back.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I never get a pop-up. I don't know which of the programs I have that is working great but I wish I could help then I could say use this. I have DSL, Mcafee, Yahoo tool bar. I think that' the one that's catching them.

I don't but I also have 2 pop-up blockers, the free one from yahoo you can download and zonealarm... you should download them, they work.... zone alarm is also free....... Rhonda:7

Switched and no more pop-ups. Thanks Carole,

BTW, do you also use that email programm that complements firefox?

We also switched browsers. Internet Explorer seems to be the problem for us. My kids still forget and use Internt Explorer. Then we have to run a scan to get rid of the viruses. I just completed a scan and had 18 viruses. We scan every night now.

I, too have had this problem since last week. I couldn't imagine why because I have not had any problems with popups for at least TWO YEARS! All of a sudden -- they were everywhere. I work at home and use my internet almost exclusively and it was driving me nuts! I downloaded the SBC Yahoo browser with the popup blocker, but it didn't do any good. So I uninstalled that and installed Norton. That didn't do any good -- still had popups (but not as many). So I uninstalled everything again, re-installed my Norton, ran my Ad Aware and so far (it's been a few hours) and I haven't had a popup (which hopefully is good because I had the popups so frequently -- about 1 every minute or so!)

I hate it that everyone else is having problems, but I'm glad to know that other people have been experiencing this same problem!! At least it sheds a little light into what may be happening with my computer!

Hope everyone gets their computers back to normal. It's very frustrating!!!

I have Bullguard which has a firewall & antivirus. I never get popups. and I run IE. Yes, I have Firefox, which has great reviews, but I can't post anything on Cathe's forums with that or Netscape. Really weird. I swear, I have typed out heartfelt sentiments to Cathe users only to have them lost in cyberspace when I'm using Firefox or Netscape. So, I just stick to IE and occasionally do Spybot, or Adware & my usual Bullguard.

No popups!

I thought fire fox was the email program and mozilla the main program? Oh well, I tried it also and when it would not do or go to certain web sites, I had to ixnay that.

Marla...that is weird about Firefox. Even when I used Firebird I could still post to Cathe's forum...??? I also use Ad aware and Spybot and also another free program called Spywareblaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/) and it stops spyware from getting on your PC....even with dial-up I also have a firewall. Most of the time I feel fairly protected...:)...Carole

Well, it happens on Netscape too. I think it's a computer glitch not a virus or spyware. I am well protected. However, I haven't figured out the cause. It's annoying.
