Hi Reese,
I know that you posted this back in March - I apologize that I just saw it. I am on the boards often, but I did a forum search for Dr. Fuhrman just to see if there was any buzz about his latest book set, when I noticed this message!
I will be honest Reese - Eat to Live is not easy for everyone to implement. It was easy for me because I have been vegetarian for my adult lifetime. As Kathryn mentioned above - Dr. Fuhrman has a new two book set out called "Eat for Health", which is a more gradual plan than "Eat to Live" is.
What has really helped me is my husband changed to Dr. Fuhrman's diet/lifestyle as well and now we have fun experimenting with recipes together. My husband is continuing to experience dramatic weight loss. It is funny many of his friends, family and co-workers are being inspired by him and they are making attempts at consuming more veggies. The only problem is they cover their salads with bacon, cheese and ranch dressing. Dr. Fuhrman's plan is mostly vegan, my husband and I are now 100% vegan. While his plan is mostly vegan, it varies from other vegan plans that recommend a lot of processed foods like, Skinny Bitch. His plan is centered on whole unprocessed plant-based foods.
If you are considering going vegan I would like to recommend a few other books:
1. Mad Cowboy, by Glen Merzer (the author from the famed Oprah vs. cattle ranchers lawsuit)
2. The China Study, by T Colin Campell & Thomas M Campbell II.
3. The Pleasure Trap, by Douglas Lisle and Alan Goldhamer.
If you decide to go with Dr. Fuhrman's eating lifestyle, I would encourage you to join his forum. It is not free though, I paid $99 for a year, or you can pay month to month. For that you get access to lots of recipes, discounts on forums, access to participate in monthly tele-conferences with Dr. Fuhrman, access to listen to all archived tele-conferences, a monthly newsletter and the forums. Cathe and Dr. Fuhrman's forums are my two favorite forums as everyone is very kind and supportive. The fact that his forum charges a fee also keeps trolls away.
Okay - I really do sound like a Dr. Fuhrman commercial, but I have to say it has changed my life.
Monica
