Moms to be check in

shopaholic

Cathlete
Hi everyone,
Another week done. I am now 28 weeks and look very pregnant. I had an awful visit at the doctor's. I was told I gained 6 pounds in the month(too much I was told) and failed the 1 hour gestational diabetes test so I need to take the 3 hour one. I am doing that tomorrow. I am up 21 pounds already. First time around I gained 23 total but was 8 pounds heavier to start. Suprisingly, the baby measured big unlike Alexis who measured small til the end. I am fearful of csection since I was told by my old ob I could deliver a baby upto about 7 pounds or so. Enough whining!

hello everyone - hope everyone feels as good as can be

shopaholic - sorry to hear about the dr visit. it is funny how different standards are, though, b/c i know i put on 6lbs one month and they didn't say a word. and just 21 lbs at 28 wks doesn't seem too much to me, but i guess they aren't happy with it?! i am already approaching 20lbs and am 25wks.

mary - you put it just right - it isn't our body anymore. i struggle with that daily, at the same time, what an amazing thing we can do. hope you feel better. how far along are you?

sun - kpc, boot camp
mon - low max, 25 min strength
tues - imax 2, c and w step only

Morris, the nurse wasn't worried about my overall gain, just the 6 pounds in the month. I must confess it is kind of nice to hear your weight gain is similar even with your incredible workouts. It shows our bodies put on what they need regardless of how hard we work out. I do believe I gaining more this time since I started thinnner. It definitely seems the preggo body works hard to gain the fat to house the baby.

I got the glucose test done today. Hopefully I'll find out the results soon. DD has the stomache again-UGH!!

i keep wondering if something is wrong with my metabloism, b/c i keep gaining weigth though i do work out hard. granted it isn't the running i used to do, but it is still hard. and my eating has been almost clean - minus the protein bars i love. but you are probably right - we put on what we need. i think i had visions of gaining the minimum effortlessly. my body thinks different. keep me posted on the reults of the glucose test. do you feel diabetic?

Morris, I can't imagine I have the gestational diabetes. I am active and even pregnant not overweight- last week at week 28 I weighed 123 pounds at 5 feet tall.
i don't think there is anything wrong with your metabolism, are you on the thinner side nonpreggo? I do believe the thinner you are, the more weight your body just puts on.

i haven't seen 123 in a long time!! i am built a bit more...athletic. that is what i call it on a good day. i am not fat, but i am not slight framed either:) people would probably call me very fit, not thin. i don't really measure my body fat, but i think my body is trying to aquire it.

i cannot imagine you'd have gestational diabetes either. when do you take another glucose test? i am doing mine in 2 weeks.

Morris, my unpreggo body is short and small boned. Of course now my small bones are covered with fat! I did the 3 hour gestational test on Monday. I am waiting on the results.
