Moms-to-Be Check-In Week of 12/20

Happy Holidays, Everyone! Wow-lastweek was a busy (and tiring) week. I didn't have a ton going on, just a little bit every night after work. Every time I ran out for 5 minutes to get something, I ended up waiting in long lines. I did manage to get to the gym last Monday for some cardio (30 min. on EFX), and I did take a walk on Saturday. Other than that, I was either too exhausted or didn't have the time. This week, I hope to do a little better-at least most of the running around is done.

I just saw an update on Cathe's forum-the new DVDs are almost ready. My mom is getting me one, but not sure which one. She is worried that it won't be here in time for Christmas, but I really do not care since I probably will just be watching them for a few months, not actually doing them. I am just excited to see the new workouts!

Not much exciting happening with the baby. My husband and I will be registering for shower stuff after the holidays, and my cousin and he will be painting the nursery. I feel the little guy kick throughout the day. The kicks have not been painful yet.

Have a Happy Holiday (and just think, for all you first time moms, next December will be entirely different-in a good way).

Hey Jen! When are you due?

I'm 18 weeks and due on May 21, 2005.

I am looking forward to next Christmas with the new little family member as well!:) Ofcourse, my hubby and I couldn't wait for NEXT Christmas...we each bought the baby a gift THIS Christmas! LOL So did my mom, actually! It's a little silly, I know, but we will need so much and it's making us smile to do it.

As far as exercising goes...I've actually been able to keep up pretty good through this hectic season, and through my pregnancy in general.

I'm impressed with myself!;-) I thought I might allow myself to get really lazy and have the "worry about it after you give birth" attitude when it came to the extra pounds but I've been keeping to my routine pretty strictly for the most part. Ofcourse....I HAVE been eating like Miss Piggy which is not good!...Maybe THAT is why I have done so well with my work outs...all of that food "guilts" me into exercising! lol

Anyway, hope you are doing well.
Happy Holidays!

Hi Jen and Wendy!
Glad that ya'll are doing so well. I had an appt with my MD yesterday. The baby is doing well and the contractions I've been having are not having too much of an effect on my cervix. Thank goodness!!!
I finally got some light exercise in.
M: Quickfix prenatal arms
T: Quickfix prenatal abs
W: Quickfix prenatal legs
S: a long (slow) walk at the botanical gardens to look at the Christmas lights with the kids.

I had my glucose tolerance test yesterday. The are supposed to call me today w/ the results... I hope they are normal!!!

Merry Christmas everyone,
Michele

Hi Michele and Wendy-
Wendy-I am due on 3/31 or 4/1. My mom-in-law keeps buying clothes for the baby-we let her cause it makes her happy to do it.

Michele-I had that glucose test done about 2 weeks ago. Isn't that stuff terrible? I don't think I will ever be able to drink orange soda again.

I had a really good idea that I got from one of my co-workers. I forgot to put it in the original post from yesterday. Tell me what you think. My husband and I are going to do this...

Buy a large teddy bear before baby is born. As soon as you get the baby home from the hospital, take his/her picture next to the bear. Do this again, each month, for the whole first year. Make sure to take the picture in the same place/same chair if possible.

Then, after his/her 1st birthday, take the picture, next to the teddy bear every year on your child's birthday. Get a special album just for these pictures.

My friend did this with both of her kids (one is now 11, and the other one just turned 15-they still get the bear picture taken on their birthdays). It is so remarkable to see how the children grow and change. And, when you use the same teddy bear, it gives you something to compare their growth to. I love this idea, and can't wait to start doing it.

Take care!

Hi Everyone!

Last week was really good. I got a lot accomplished at work and managed to squeeze in 3 visits to curves. I have to skip one of the ab machines now because it is getting uncomfortable. I think this will be my last month of curves and then I will just do videos at home.

This Monday I had my ultrasound and it's a girl!! My husband and I are very excited. My daughter will be the third generation of first born women! The Dr. said that she looked perfect and that she weighs about 13oz! Now we really need to concentrate on baby girl names.

Jen, I love the teddy bear idea. I'll have to mention that to my husband!

Glad to hear everyone else is doing well. Have a great Christmas and New Years (I don't think I'll have internet access when we are at the in-laws). Talk to you all next year!

Congratulations on your baby girl,Imani! I'm glad everything is fine.

I've been feeling good this week, and my belly has started to really expand above my bellybutton now. One of my grade one students kissed my belly as she walked by me today- no warning, and it made me smile. They are really excited about it, especially now that they can see the physical changes!

Sun. Gay Gasper Cardio Crazy 45 min.
Mon. Cathe L & G
Tues. Cathe PUB Pyramid Down Premix
Sat. Cathe Timesaver Cardio Workout #1, & Chest, Back and Triceps work

Have a wonderful Christmas everyone. I plan to eat to my heart's content, and not feel guilty about it (it'll make up for the fact I will not be drinking!!!)

Cheers, Jennifer V.

Hey Ladies.

Love the teddy bear idea! That sounds so awesome!

Glucose test, huh? Gotta drink something nasty I gather? UT OH! lol I guess that is just another wonderful part of being pregnant, ey? :p The first one I discovered was how quickly one becomes a "human pin cushion". Every time I turn around they wanna take more blood outta me! I hate giving blood too...it grosses me out! YUCK! lol

Well, the Holidays are drawing closer...I hope everyone has off from work tomorrow. I don't :(. Gotta work a 1/2 day. Oh well.

Take Care!

~Wendy~
