Moms of Toddlers/preschoolers-week of Feb. 17

Cathlete
Hi everyone,
Friday's workout was firm max. calorie bootcamp+ hard core fusion. My 4 year old joined in on this one while youngest napped. Yesterday did bodymax 2 scrambled eggs.

I thought I'd put the discussion on potty training here. Training DD#1 was awful, she wasn't ready and I pushed too much. Shortly before her 4th birthday she began actively using the potty and now she is a real pro, an accident here and there but rarely. I regret listening to everyone else. I yelled, got depressed etc. DD #1's favorite video is Elmo's potty, so I bought her a potty seat for valentines day. I have explained what goes in the potty but will not expect her to use te potty til way after she is 2 1/2. I do recommend the video once upon a potty for him or her and Elmo's potty.

Hi all you wonderful Moms! Hope everyone had a great week.

I agree with Shoopaholic on potty training. Our 2nd child potty trained himself when he was a little over 3. Literally has never had an accident. I realize all kids are different, but I plan to do the same with number 3.

Today is our anniversary, 16 years. Maybe we'll have a relaxing evening. The kids have been instructed that there will be no whining, fighting, no food preparations, no diaper changes. They're ready. ;)

Last week was my first over 40hour week. It really went okay. Alot better than I thought it would be. I did and plan to continue to pick up a couple of the shifts in my hometown (my regular job is about 1.5hrs from my house). When working in town, I got up real early and worked out BEFORE work. I've never been a morning exerciser (4pm is my best time), but I think it'll help my stamina and moods throughout the week.

Last week I was able to workout 4.5 times.

Sun: Amy's ASC2 (almost got it down)
Wed: Amy Kicbox Xtreme Premix --57 min
Thurs: Turbo Jam Cardio Party 1 (only 1/2 the kids were way too difficult)
Fri: Cardio Options
Sat: Amy's Kickbox Xtreme Presmix --58 min

Have a great week!

melanie, that is a fantastic workout schedule, esp considering you worked over 40 hrs! hats off to you! i hope you have a wonderful anniversary. thanks for the sling/carrier tips. i think i will get a sling for that first 8 weeks or so. i have to be mobile!

shopaholic, i love bm2 scrambled eggs. it flies for me. i think it is great your daughter kept you compnay. does she get underfoot? ds can be with me when i do upper body weights or floor work, but i have not tried cardio with him yet.

i truly cannot remember all of last weeks workouts, but i know i ran, a lot, did some step, and also did ctx weight work 2 times. i find i have to heavy it up a bit, but it is a fun change. yesterday i did amy's hi lodome mixed in with a 5 mil run. today i am struggling to find the energy to work out, but nap time is coming up soon, so i better get my act together. i think i will put potty training out of my head for at least the next 9 months and reevaluate at that point.

Ditto that!! Happy Anniversary Melanie!!!! 16 years , that is so
wonderful. I know relaxing takes on a whole other meaning once you
have children but especially when they are small. Larry King Live
is on at 9pm and that is usually our goal time to have kids in
bed that we can sit and reflect on our day.

Shopaholic, I am starting to toliet train dd#1. I too bought the
Elmo potty chair. Soemtimes she is exicted to try, but likes the
rountine of washing her hands, etc. Other times she screams and
says, " No way Mom." So I back off. She takes her pj's off each night
and the diaper is usually dry. I thought perhaps that indicated she
was uncomfortable in her diaper but wishful thinking......

Morris, I am so impressed by your workouts!! Pregnant or not!!!
I take it you are feeling well??

Like I mentioned I work out everyday at lunch. The gym is across
from my office. I so miss my Cathe tapes and assume I am getting
a good workout but I push myself. I was lucky this time too
have also dropped the baby weight within a few weeks but that
is because I was healthy enough to exercise up until the day
my water broke.

Have a Great Day!!!!!

I hate to be a downer, but I haven't had a good week.

My new boss usually leaves me alone, but there was a complaint in the pharmacy that sent her whirling. Next thing I know she's nit-picking me about everything. She did this through the store manager for non-stop for two days until I finally confronted her myself. In the end, we both hugged each other and said we'd communicate better. Blah Blah Blah. In the end "I" was the one who found my FIRST gray/silver hair. Hanging out of my chin of all places!

We've had two people look at our house, but everyone has hated it thus far. Which is super discouraging. With the real estate soaring down, I wonder if we might be better off financially with a foreclosure. :(

My mom (and best friend) has been acting real loopy lately and I"m becoming worried that she might not be okay.

Then on top of it all DH and I are in the midst of an awful domestic challenge that began around 630 this evening,... my dear DH is sleeping on the couch tonight!!!!!!

I know it's only February ladies, but I feel like I have been through the wringer this year already. If I didn't have my workouts, and my faith that God will never give me more than I can handle,...I would not be able to handle this at all (as if I am now ;) )!

Anyway, you ladies have to help cheer me up. Share with me some funny stories your toddlers have done lately. ;)

Mel, sending cyber hugs your way! Now, funny stories...As we write Alexis is walking around the house in her pjs and her heeled dress up shoes. I gave Ashley some naked time and she was running around the house butt naked and ran the other way when I tried to dress her.

You have the right to be down, lots of stress and winter stinks!

Mel, another chuckle for you. This am, Ms. Ashley sat on her potty seatbare buns and all watching once upon a potty. Alexis now decided"her buns are tooo big" for her potty seat!

melanie, hugs to you too. somedays life does feel like it is too much. i am sorry for the work stress added on top. hope that gets better. i hate when dh and i fight. it feels so terrible, and often it is when other things are wrong too, so it is an added stress. you and your family are in my prayers.

shopaholic, the kids sound so cute!

Melanie-
Sorry to hear about your crappy week. The good thing is that they don't happen too often (all at once, like that). Yes, the real estate market is slow now, but hang in there...it will get sold! And, I am sure they didn't hate it (maybe it just wasn't for them right now). And, about the DH sleeping on the couch...we've all been there! I have also found gray hairs growing out of strange places (like under my boob)!!! My DH has one that grows under his eye.

Here's a great toddler story to cheer you up...Beware, it has to do with poop!
My DS woke up unusually early from his nap last Saturday. My husband and I decided to let him cry because usually he falls back asleep. Well, he didn't. My DH went to his room to see what was wrong, and my almost 3-year old son who isn't potty trained yet, made a BM in his diaper. My husband changed him, and since DS wouldn't go back to sleep, my DH brought him downstairs. I was kind of napping (in and out) on the couch, and DS came over to me and put his fingers on my nose. There was f__king crap on his fingers, and he put them on my nose!!!!!!!!!!! . Now, did that make you smile?

Yuk! I would have slapped DH. Oh oh, now I must have an attitude problem this week. ;) That story did make me smile, thanks. :D

Things are looking up. DH and I made up (like we always do), I"m on my boss's good side (today, maybe not tomorrow), and we've had FOUR people look at our house this week. Oh, and my moms snapped out of it. So there you go, just a season. Hopefully a short season. :)
