Moms 2Be Checkin - Sept. 11/05

FiddleFit

Cathlete
Hi everyone,

Sunday morning, and time to check in. I hope you're all doing well.

My week:

MON: Step Jam
TUES: Low-Impact Step/Total Body Sculpting Cardio & Weights premix
WEDS: KickMax combos 1-4; IMAX3 step only premix
THURS: High Step Circuit
FRI: Basic Step
SAT: Body Max w/u, leg circuits; Power Hour upper body; Total Body Stretch #1
SUN: rest

Melanie - I don't actually remember everything when I write these emails. I simply open up a second window of Explorer and re-read the previous posts while I type. I wish my memory was so good..........

Adrienne - I moved to the 6" step sometime in my first trimester because I was getting too winded. It's a great way to modify your workouts. There have been days when I wish I could use only the 4" step top, but I need a set of risers to keep my step from sliding around on my carpet. Don't feel bad about having to modify. You're listening to your body, and that's what will keep you consistent in the long run. How is the PF?

Kristan - another week bites the dust. You're getting close to the end!

MSJ - we moved 4000km away from all family 11 years ago. I found it great until we had our first DD, then I began to miss all the perks that go with having family around to help look after children. Don't feel like a loser for lowering your step height!!! Making more and more modifications is par for the course with pregnancy! I lowered my weights for the lower body by almost half when I came off of 9 weeks of bedrest, around my 20th week. My lower back just gets waaaaay too fatigued with my previous weight loads. Seems safer to just do what I can and accept that my body needs extra TLC these days.

Wendybdh - Here's a shout out to you!!! I'm glad to see that you're continuing to exercise. I take it you convinced both DH and your doctor that the BH aren't anything to worry about? Only a few more weeks and we will be swapping pictures of babies instead of pregnancy tests LOL!!!

GraceNote - the GD test experience sounded awful for you!! I hope it came back negative? I agree that posting here definitely helps motivate on days when imitating a potato appears more appealing. I've had to use every mental trick in the book to get myself going this week. Nope, I didn't graduate this week, obviously. Maybe this week, maybe next.....How did DH's surgery go? Is he milking it for all he's worth? Men are so bizarre when it comes to illness. When my husband gets a simple cold he climbs into bed and acts like he's gotten some exotic, incurable disease. I can't say that I'm terribly sympathetic to him....

Monica - you're ticker is going to flip over to 30 weeks in just a few more days. I found that to be a milestone. In both my pregnancies I put on 8lbs in one month, somewhere around the 5th month, I think. It's just what our bodies do, I guess.

Kristi (who probably isn't reading this right now!!) - I can't wait to hear the details of the birth! And I am beyond green with envy, as I sit here with my big belly and braxton hicks!!!

Dana - only 22 pounds??? Okay, now I'm REALLY jealous!! I've gained 40 pounds, same as my first pregnancy. I haven't put on any weight in the past month, though, which I guess is quite normal for the final month.

I'm officially one week away from my due date and going stir crazy with boredom and impatience. I have plenty of things I could be doing to help pass the time, but they require more physical energy than I have to give right now. I've been getting intermittent contractions and cramping for short periods of time, almost every day for the past week or two. It's like they're teasing me. With DD#1 I had zero signs of labour until my water broke, so I wasn't put through this emotional roller coaster. For those of you who have been through this 4 or 5 times already, HOW DO YOU GET THROUGH THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS???

Have a great week everyone!
Sandra

Hi ladies! HOpe everyone's doing well!

Sat: High Step Challenge
Sun: I max 2
Mon: Kickbox Bootcamp premix
Tue: TaeBo Extreme
Wed: StepBlast (no challenge)
Thurs: TaChi Kickbox (janis)
Fri: off (Justin was way to fussy to workout :( )

Adrienne, as mentioned earlier I have moved to a 8 inch plateform. Height also has something to do with height, as I'm 5'8" I might be considered somewhat of a wimp for having to lower it, but I must listen to my body. I was working out less and less & I know it was b/c it was too difficult. My cardiac output seems to be much much lower when I"m pg.

Kristan, doesn't it seem early to begin nesting? I feel like I've already begun myself & I'm about 4 weeks behind you!!! I brought all my 0-6 mos clothes in to go through, as well as toys & baby swing, etc... I haven't begun to go through any of yet...but why the hurry I tell myself. Except now might be the time to do it before I get too big!!

Maggie, how's your back doing? How's your stress eating? Are you able to replace it with something else? Brushing my teeth helps, as does putting a Crest Whitening Strip on --can't eat for 30 minutes!! Lately I've been drinking more Mountain Dew than I'd like. It just tastes sooo good. On a plus note, I think I may be over my fried food cravings!!!

Gracenote, I want my ob to schedule my CSection more than 7 days prior to my due date...but she won't until I get closer & see my progression. I had DD#1 14 d prior to due date & DD#2 8 d prior to due date. I don't want to go into labor AND have a C Section. Doesn't seem fair!!! Whaaa Whaaa. Who sounds like a baby? Anyway, she said she might as I get farther along ...with the Thanksgiving holiday it'll be hard to schedule a different time. ;) I can relate to DH's surgery taking away from 'your' time. However, this may be a good thing as your pg may move along quicker when you're even more busy. My DH has been fighting shingles of the eye/blindness in one eye since pretty much conception. It has really kept things off of me & onto him. It's hard sometimes when HE'S the one sleeping 16 hrs/day & I'm the pg one...but it's all part of partnership. We'll get through it & I know you will too. I missed the part about your GD testing?!?!? Hope it ended well. I've never taken that test...

Monica, I'm sorry I don't remember your situation. Were you on bedrest? I'm glad to have you back;nevertheless!!! Take things slowly so you don't overdue yourself!!

Kristi, you are THERE! Wow! More energy than ever? Sounds like serious nesting, huh ladies?!?!?

Dana, thanks for posting last week despite your workouts. You're an encouragment to all of us on our "down" weeks---which we ALL will have at sometime during our pg. Sometimes a little break allows you to hit it with more vigor when you go back!! ;)

Fiddlefit, how did I do? I took your advice. BTW, this might be your last posting week prior to delivery. Yahoo!!!!

Hello. I am getting ready for my DD's 3rd birthday party. Seems odd to be having a party on 9-11, but that's her birthday.

Monday: walk 3.5 miles, CTX upper body split
Tuesday: 1 mile walk
Wednesay: lowmax 1-4
Thursday: gym for 30 minutes
Friday: Low Impact Step/lower body premix
Saturday: nothing-- shower for a friend, party at night, take the kids to the pool
Sunday: get ready for party. I'll be lucky if I am awake when everyone leaves the house.

Sandra- yes, it's hit me that i could have a baby next month. I know what you mean about being impatient. With my other 2, i remember thinking, "let's get the show on the road."

Melanie- Don't even ask my husband about nesting. He's really sick of my lists of things to do. To me, if I don't clean it now, I may not have a chance for quite a while. I need to shift gears into cooking stuff to go into the freezer.

have a good week.

Hi everyone--

Sandra-- I am always a crying mess by the final week of pregnancy. Besides the sickness of the first trimester, I think it is the hardest time. Hang in there!!! Oh and I go back and forth with the family stuff. Just sometimes, I wished we lived too far away to be involved, but at other times it does not bother me so bad.

Melani--stress eating, not so good, especially since I found out I was exposed to fifth disease, but there is really nothing I can do about that so...anyway...your workouts look amazing.

I am trying to remember my workouts this week and am drawing a blank. My back feel much better, except when I do "triples" around the step and leg presses. I have almost eliminated jumping, but not totally. I did one workout on a 4 inch step, but have moved back up to 6 as it does not seem to aggrevate my back.

Lets see
Mon-GS CT TS+30 min stationary bike
Tues-Low Max intervals 1-4 with leg exercises after each blast
Wed-GS BSB TS+low impact step/leg premix (new dvd)
Thurs-C&W step only premix+30 min stationary bike
Fri-low impact step/body sculpting circuit premix (new dvd)
Sat-did not feel well-rest
Sun-My new version of IMAX 3--step portions and leg exercises (squats, plie squats, lunges, dead lifts and leg presses) during and instead of the blasts) It was a really good workout, but leg presses are not working for me now.

My other pregnancy related news is that we are changing insurance as of October, so I will have to change ob's and hospitals, etc. With this plan (which we have had before) I will probably be working with a midwife (hurray) unless problems crop up. I'm not worried about the changes...

Hope you are all doing well
Maggie:)
23 weeks today--17 weeks to go

Hi Everyone!

I'm here browsing again because I'm bored and am thinking about doing another workout today but haven't decided. So, I thought I'd come here for motivation(you all are always so good for that:)).

So far, I've gained 35 pounds-9 of it has been in the last 5 weeks! This week I've stayed the same. So hopefully, I'll hold steady for the last couple of weeks.

Sandra, It's crazy thinking that you only have 1 week to go. I can't wait to share pics of our new little ones. Nice workouts. I decided not to listen to my doctor. I just wasn't willing to give up working out when I felt fine. My DH became more understanding once he really realized how much my workouts mean to me.
I know what you mean about being tired. I laid on the couch today for about 3 hours which is something I never did before pregnancy. Soon we'll be tired because the baby is on the "outside" and not on the "inside", huh?;)

Kind of late to join your check ins but what the heck:

My week:
Mon: 30 min of Body fusion, Step Blast combos 1,2, and 3 only
Tues: Rest
Wed: Rest
Thurs: Timesaver 1
Fri: Timesaver 2
Sat: Timesaver 4
Sun: Total Body Sculpting (no abs)

Well, I think I'll do Low Impact Step now then take a nice warm bath.

Thanks for letting me invade this thread,

I like to get ideas from what other ladies are doing. For example, I forgot all about the Timesaver workouts!! Maybe I"ll hit them this week.

Oh, as far as weight gain. I gained close to 40 lbs with last pregnancy & lost it all within a couple of weeks. So, I"m trying not to get to hung up on weight gain. On the other hand, last time I had lost of edema and swelling & I don't have as much this time. So... I must have had lots of water wt last time, which I don't have this time...which means I shouldn't gain so much. Hmmmmmm. It does sound as if I've been brooding after all!!! I think I've gained about 20 lbs so far. I haven't weighed myself in a while. I like to weigh myself stark naked the first thing in the morning after working out.

BTW, I didn't workout today. Just took 2 naps & moped the floor, did 4 loads of laundry, 2 loads of dishes, cooked ham & mashed potatoes, did my Bible Study, talked to my mom on the phone for 90 minutes, dyed my hair, took baby Justin down by the lake for a swim, & fought with my 11 year old, oh DH & I had 'relations' today too (but don't tell him I kissed and told). :D :D :D

From my last post I stil havn't done Cathe cuz I wanted to check in w/my DR...Plus I am so tired!!! Well, I pushed my self to get up & do something (just make sure I don't go crazy) & I may feel better!! Well I did & I do

My end of week & hopes to a good next week

Sun: Low Max

Thanks for all your help

Stacy

Hi ladies. I actually had an ok week.

Mon: walked 2.5 miles and did Cathe's Total Body Sculpting
Tuesday: walked 2.5 miles
Wednesday: walked 2.5 miles
Thursday: walked 2.5 miles and did Cathe's Total Body Sculpting
Friday: walked 3 miles
Saturday: cleaned my entire house

Today I feel like crap. I am so dizzy. I came into work an hour late despite the way I feel. My son was home with me and he was driving me crazy so I figured I'd take him to daycare and I might as well come in to work. I feel like I am drunk - what a horrible feeling when you have NOT been drinking. I"m also extremely hot. I'm going to call the dr in a bit if I don't feel any better.

Have a great week everyone!

Hi everyone!

A couple of you are so close to the "finish line" - I hope it all goes very smoothly for you, well, as smoothly as labor can go!

I don't know if it's normal or not at this point in pregnancy, but I have gained at least five pounds over the last month. I think part of it was eating too much and not working out enough. Ths past month, because of working late, visits from out-of-town friends andrelatives, and plantar fasciitis in my right heel, I've been working out less than usual. The one good thing about all that down time is that my heel feels better.

Not only have I had to drop my step height, I've had to lighten my weights a little. My hip flexor/groin area is sore, so when I walk it feels like I just got off of a horse. I think that's from the relaxin hormone. Whatever it is, I'm doing what I can not to make it any worse.

Here was what I managed to do last week:

Sun: 3 mile walk
Mon: Cardio and Weights - I can do the cardio and then the weights, not alternating - I get too winded if I do C&W "as-is".
Tue: Kick Max Low Impact Time Saver
Wed: 1 mile walk (.5 mile to and from train station)
Thu: Nothing - too tired
Fri: 1 mile walk (.5 mile to and from train station)
Sat: Step It Strong - first cardio, then weights sections.

Hang in there, everyone, and please keep us all posted! :D

Adrienne,

I thought you were behind me, but I see that you are ahead of me by about 1 1/2 weeks.:)

Some months are 5 lb months. I tend to be a big gainer (less in this pregnancy and in the last one, but still more than most ladies on these forums). I've had 10 lb months in the first 4 pregnancies, so don't feel too bad about 5 lbs. This has been a 5 lb month for me, which is going to make my next doctor's appt stressful, because he sternly ordered me not to gain more than 3 lbs per month.

Maggie:)

Sandra, your time is so near. I wish you the best and hope your labor and delivery is quick. Hopefully you can't read this because you are in labor right now. Lots of baby vibes are headed your way!! I'll do the baby dance for you!!

Adrienne, in month 5 I gained 8 lbs, then month 6 I gained just one pound. Last pregnancy I also gained about 7-9 pounds in one month. I guess you can blame it on a growing spurt!!!

Kristi,

Well, how thoughtful are you, thinking about me when you've just had your baby! I'm so glad to hear that you have enough energy to do the baby dance for me, but I think I would prefer to hear that you are resting and enjoying the adjustment period with Annamarie. But I could use those good labour vibes, please!

Cheers,
Sandra

Wow - the week's almost over....I'm late posting!

I barely remember what I did last week:

2 walks
Body Max
one playground day
swimming

Not too active, although it started out well.

DH had his surgery today, so he's in bed recovering. I think it went well, but the anesthesia really caused a lot of problems, so hopefully, once that's out of his system, he'll feel a little better. Plus, he has 40 percoset pills in case he feels worse :)

I didn't do much this week. We had a stomach virus go through the house. Not violent, but created a lot of extra work cleaning pukey carseats and laundry... I hope that's over with! DD#2 seems to be getting her 2-year molars early, so she's been stuffy, cranky and not sleeping, plus DH was out of town three days. That kind of ate up my workout time, plus I was too tired from not sleeping, myself. I hope this coming week is better!

I found a website: SeeMommyRun.com where they match up local ladies who want to have a walking/running group. I actually made contact with a woman who lives in my town. We have some scheduling conflicts, but to have a walk together in October. It's really a neat idea!

Hope you are all well - sorry to be so late this week!
