Good Sunday morning,

I had a good week last week, although LL on Wednesday surprisingly fried me for 3 days - and I did it with light weights! It seems to take my body longer to recover than it used to. I didn't have DOMS, just tired legs. Either that, or the weight I've gained in this past month is starting to catch up with me, and just generally making me wear out quicker. Anyway, here is my week:

MON: Christie Taylor - Step Heaven

TUES: IMAX warm up; MIC step; PUB (no core); Basic Step abs add-on

WEDS: Kickmax w/u; combos 1-4; Leaner Legs (no abs)

THURS: Rhythmic Step

FRI: IMAX3 step only premix; Power Hour upper body only

SAT: Cardio Hits combo: SF w/u and combo1; SW combo2; PH combo3; PH cool-down and stretch (66min workout - really fun).

SUN: rest

Adrienne - you had a great week last week, regardless of the morning sickness. I hope it continues to dissipate. I did the Viper with all of the blasts modified, so it wasn't so much as hard, as long. I love the Terminator workouts, and was really missing them. I feel the same way as you about prenatal yoga workouts; I always think they'll serve me better near the end of the pregnancy. Well, here I am nearer the end, and I still don't find them to be much of a workout.

Melany - hearing the heartbeat for the first time is quite the milestone, isn't it? It's pretty neat! And I love the gas bubble movement stage. I started feeling this one around week 12-13; I agree it's the best thing about being pregnant. I can't believe how active this baby seems compared to my first. How long into your pregnancies do you run? I can't imagine doing that with the belly I've got!

Maggie - for ab work I've been doing Cathe's beginner versions: Basic Step stability ball abs add-on, High Step Circuit core work (from the mix and match menu), and High Step Circuit stability ball abs add-on. They're a lot of crunches, and movements that are quite doable with a belly. You're doing great with your workouts!! It's hard to believe that you can workout so much and still gain 10lbs! There's no doubt you have a biological imperative to gain weight early in pregnancy! I'm the same way x( At this point (28 weeks) I've gained probably between 25-30lbs, which is the upper range of doctors' recommendations for the entire pregnancy. Looks like I'll hit at least 40lbs before the end of the journey.

Dana - I notice you did the abs from MIS last week. Do you do them on the stability ball? I remember they're a bunch of crunches, so might be quite doable during pregnancy. I might give it a go this week!

Kristi - happy belated birthday to DS!! You sound like us: our wedding anniversary is 2 days after DD's birthday. Consequently, our anniversary gets overshadowed. Does that happen to you, too? How are your sinuses/allergies? That sounds like such a miserable thing to have to deal with!!! And yes, we're officially into the third trimester! Are you feeling it?

Kristan - how was your vacation? (Are you back yet?)

Gracenote - no vacation plans for us. How was the morning sickness this week? It's awful that you're still feeling it well into your second trimester :-(

Have a great week!
Sandra

Hi everyone!

I felt much better this week overall, so I hope all you "sick" women are feeling better also.

My workouts:
Mon-The Gauntlet
Tues-major DOMS and tons of freezer cooking--took an unplanned rest
Wed-Step Blast
Thurs-BC/ME bonus premix
Fri-Power Max
Sat-HCX #1 (this almost killed me I think)

Hi Sandra--I don't think your weight gain sounds excessive. I'd be happy with only 40 lbs total:7. Do you do the ab stuff on your back? or on an incline bench or a stability ball or what? I did abs once last week, sort of leaned up on the stability ball so I was not flat on my back and that felt okay.

I find it hard to believe that I work out as hard as I do and gain so fast. I think some of it must be water, because my weight can fluctuate wildly from day to day at times. What's discouraging for me is that this time I am really trying to be good and I still seem to be packing on the lbs., but usually I don't weigh myself at all during pregnancy and this time for accountability I am weighing almost daily. Also keeping a fit day account.

take care everyone!
Maggie

Hi everyone! I hope you all did well this past week. The heat wave that hit Chicagoland late last week has knocked out most of my energy. At week 13, I've gained only 3 pounds, but I've been feeling less nauseous and I've been eating a little more, so I expect to gain a few more pounds soon.

My workouts for the week were:

Sun: Elliptical, level 2, 45 minutes

Mon: 1 mile walk - 1/2 mile to/from train station

Tue: Run 3 miles, walk 1 mile

Wed: 1 mile walk - 1/2 mile to/from train station

Thu: Supersets

Fri: Stationary bike - 9mi. It took me over 30 minutes to drag myself through those miles. My goal was 16 miles, but that just wasn't going to happen.

Sat: CIA 2303 Step It Strong step portion only, followed by IMAX3 step-only premix and cool-down/stretch. My legs felt quite heavy the entire time. I guess it's almost time to go down to a 6 inch step for longer step workouts.

I hope the upcoming week will be happy, healthy, and productive for you all. :)

Hi all. I had a really, really bad week. It has been so stinkin' hot and humid all I got in were 2 walks. Normally, 90+degree weather doesn't bother me but it has really bothered me lately.

Sandra - I use my bench in an incline to do the abs from MIS. Works well for me.

Hope you all had a great week!

Hi ladies! I'm back from my vacation w/my inlaws in San Antonio. We had a wonderful trip, and my inlaws took us all for three days to Port Aransas which is on the Corpus Christi island. Anthony was a riot trying to get use to the beach! I ate a lot, but thankfully didn't gain a ton like I was scared I would. I am still thankfully slightly under my goal (well mental wish more like it, can't really control the weight completely!) weight wise for this far in my pregnancy. Baby girl is kicking A LOT these days. Her kicks are getting stronger and stronger every day. I keep trying to get Anthony to watch her move, but there is only so much concentrationa a 3 year old can handle! I did get to workout last week. My SIL works at a very posh workout club in San Antonio where the Spurs apparently workout at too, so she got us in for free! It was a nice fun splurge.

Monday: eliptical 20 min, 20 speed walking and 20 mintutes lower body weight lifting

Tues-Weds: rest

Thursday: DH and I jogged up the beach 2.5 miles in 30 min - not a bad time for a belly bulging mama! Boy running on sand was different, fun, but when the sand was soft you really had to kick it up to keep the momentem.

Friday: rest

Saturday: eliptical 60 min at level 4 burned like 550 calories !:) Which made up for all the awesome nachos I ate down there!

Missed talking to you gals and glad to see all is well!

Hello!

I had an off and on week - nausea a little better, but another migraine. The weather was warm - which I LOVE. I didn't get the jogging stroller, yet - can't decide which one would be best. Any suggestions? We need a double, and I'd prefer one with a handbrake and swivel front wheel. I've been searching online, but it's hard to find one with both. If I have to choose, I don't know which feature would be more important. It's very hilly here, so the handbrake is a godsend when going down (keeps the stroller from pulling you with it) but the swivel may be critical with two kids onboard...hmmmmm....

Sunday - Cardio Max
Monday - migraine
Tuesday - Interval Max
Wednesday - walking
Thursday - sick
Friday - DH out of town late, so no workout
Saturday - walking

Does anyone have a breakdown of preg. weight gain and # of weeks? I used to have something like 5 pounds for the first trimester, .75 (or something) pounds per week to week 22(or something) and then 1 pound (or something) per week to week 38 (or something) Sound familiar? I just need it as a reference for my own peace of mind.

Oh well - hope you're all well. I'm enjoying the 90 degree days - except in my office, where it feels like sub-zero because my cube mates like it COLD!! I've been taking my winter cardigans in to wrap up in :)

Is anyone going on the Cathe trip? It's so hard for me to read about it and not be able to take part!! :-( I bet it's a ton of fun!! I keep thinking, maybe next time, but feel like the only kid who's not going to summer camp!!

Gracenote I have a Dreamer Design jogging stroller and I LOVE IT!!! I researched the wazoo out of jogging strollers 2 years ago and after weeks of searching found this was my best bang for my buck. I opted not for the alloy so ended up paying less w/a little heavier stroller, though it's never been a problem for me. I'm not sure if you were aware of this but strollers called "jogging strollers or terrain strollers" w/a swivel wheel are NOT meant for actually jogging. I thought that it would be better to manuever around when I started searching but found out that they are a HAZARD and are NOT SAFE to jog with your child. You NEED a fixed wheel, that is why real joggers don't have swivel wheels. I bought my stroller from www.joggingstroller.com . It's a fabulous small company, with a kick butt website filled w/all kinds of info on all the main joggers and gives reviews to boot. I called the company w/any questions I had and found them SSOOOOOO helpful, and their prices wheren't bad either. I think I got a free weather canopy w/my purchase. Anyway that's my 2 cents, but check out that website it could help you a lot! Oh my other 2 cents, don't get an Instep jogger - although cheep the seats are SO narrow that the life span of the stroller won't go as far for your kids, and they hold I think the least lbs of the brands. HTH! Happy shopping!!!

I'm back from vacation. We had a lovely time in Seaside, Florida. My kids loved it. I enjoyed it as well- quiet and not too crowded.

Monday- gym for an hour
Tuesday- nothing/pack
Wednesday- nothing/drive
Thursday- walk at least 3 miles around the town
Friday- fitness center for 45 minutes
Saturday- walk a couple miles
Sunday- walk a couple miles

Maggie- are you into freezer cooking? I don't have nearly the size family as you, but I love cooking in advance. I stick mostly to pasta sauces and casseroles and soups. My husband laughs at my big overstuffed deep freezer (but he stops laughing when there's dinner on the table).

Gracenote- I have a double Mountain Buggy. I usually just walk with it, but sometimes run with it. It cost a fortune, but has been worth every penny. It fits through doorways and also collapses easily for going in the car. Not many doubles can do that! My kids are 4 and 2 and fit quite comfortably.

have a good week.

kristan, due 11-1

Kristan--glad you had a good vacation.:7 :7 Yes, I love freezer cooking. If nothing other than spaghetti sauce and pre-cooked hamburger and chicken and grated cheese--it saves me a step. But I do soups and cassaroles and more elaborate dishes as well sometimes. We have a humongous freezer in the garage. I don't know how I'd survive without it.

Maggie:)

I'm right there with you Julie on needing guidance on what freezes well. DH and I bought a huge upright freezer a month ago. I need some ideas.

Kristi and Julie--

If you google freezer cooking, you will get lots of good tips.

Basically, I think that most food freezes well, except cream sauces and custardy things and potatoes do not (this is off the top of my head). If you freeze vegetables, you need to blanch them or cook them first--raw veggies do not fare well, some raw fruits do not either. Although some fruits like berries can just go straight into the freezer.

Things I freeze on a fairly regular basis:

-cooked ground beef--sometimes seasoned and ready for a particular recipe, sometimes just plain
-cooked chicken, shredded or cubed
-breads, cinnamon rolls, and dinner rolls
-spagetti sauce
-lasagne
-chili and other bean soups
-chicken soup (if I want potatoes in my soup, I add them when I am reheating
-beef barley soup
-beef burgandy
-turkey pot pie filling
-grated cheese
-noodle/meat cassarole type dishes

Admittedly, many of these dishes are not "clean", but the family enjoys them.

Oh and you could check out books from the library on this as well. But google worked for me:7 :7 .

(and I am domestically challenged in the clean and organized house department:p )

Hi everyone. I won't post workouts this week. DH has been sick again, and has actually lost sight in one eye. Very stressful week (and weeks to come I'm sure). We also had a family reunion we drove to that took us 10 hrs to get too & 14 hrs to get home from in a 48 hr period of time. Yuk!!!

Anyway, Fiddlefit I run as long as I can physically or the Minnesota weather keeps me inside!

Gracenote, I love my JoggingStroller brand. I splured and got the 3rd generation with the huge tires. It doesn't fold well in my little Subaru though. It's great running though. I will be in the market for a double stroller this spring. ;)

Wednesday is my U/S. I haven't had much movement. I think I had much more with last pg. This concerns me slightly. Unsure if maybe those were gas bubbles earlier?Q?Q? I'm still nauseated though, which is always a good sign of a flourishing pg. ;)

Melani!

Hi there--I wondered where you were. Is your husband's lost sight permanent or temporary? Anyway that has got to be extremely stressful. I will keep you in my prayers.

As far as movement is concerned, it's been at varying level for every baby. Some were like popcorn and some were extremely mellow. I did not feel my second child at all until 18 weeks. Sometimes you feel less movement if your placenta is positioned in the front. You are only 17 weeks, I would not worry (although I know from personal experience that it is hard not to).

(((hugs)))
Maggie

I freeze most of the same stuff as Maggie. I also have some luck with cream based stuff, as long as it's not too 'creamy.' anyway, i freeze: meatballs in sauce, meat sauce, all red pasta sauces, lasagne (unbaked), spinach lasagne (unbaked), spinach tortellini sauce, carbonara sauce, spinach ravioli sauce, enchiladas, manicotti, chilis, homemade granola, zucchini or banana or pumpkin bread, most cookies (I always bake a triple batch and freeze the rest), minestrone soup.

If you didn't think I was already crazy, I also freeze leftover birthday cake, homemade pancakes, and baguettes (sprinkle with water and throw a frozen one in the oven). Finally, i save the juice from pot roasts, skim the fat, and use it for a base for vegetable/barley soup.

my freezer is pretty packed! We had a power outage a few weeks ago and I about had a nervous breakdown.

kristan

Kristan--one of my big phobias is the freezer breaking down or the power going out...I can relate.

Well, everyone, we are off for a week of vacation at my family's summer cabin in the beautiful Metolius River Basin of central Oregon. I am excited, but nervous that the house will burn down (foolish neighbors/4th of July, you know) or it will get broken into, not that we really have that much to take....I'm a worrywort)

So, I am posting my workouts for this last week early
Mon-SH chest, Low Max 1-4
Tues-GS/SH back hybrid, Low Max 4-7
Wed-SH shoulders, CTX S&I, cardio only
Thurs-GS/SH biceps hybrid, IMAX 3 1-7
Fri-plan to do SH triceps and 40 min of cardio, but I have not decided what yet

Next week: lots of walking, hiking (with a 28 lb toddler on my back) swimming, and light hand weight work:p :p .

Hope you all have a great week!

Maggie:7

Maggie, thanks for your encouragement. The baby has been moving more today (I think). I'm actually about 18.5 weeks along. I wasn't able to update my ticker for some reason. Just bubbles. I'm at work now, when I'm at home later I'll be able to relax & feel baby move if she'll move for me. My u/s is on Wed so I imagine I will be updating my due date again after that. You know how that goes. ;)

As far as DH's sight goes, noone will tell him if it'll come back or not. This is a result of the shingles (herpes zoster) infection that he got in his eye in Feburary. :(
