Happy Holiday, everyone!

Here are the workouts I did last week. I didn't plan to do a Timesaver week, but it just worked out that way:

Sun: Rest
Mon: Timesaver #4 - with impact
Tue: Timesaver #2 - with not so much impact
Wed: 35 min. stationary bike, chest and triceps sections from Timesaver #1
Thu: IMax3 step only, biceps/core (modified) from Timesaver #3
Fri: Timesaver #5 - I can't lift myself anymore for those glute sweeps!
Sat: Rest

Finally, some progress on the labor front: The mucous plug uncorked itself today. I know that doesn't mean that I will have my baby today, tomorrow, or even the next day, but it is the first sign I've had of any advancement, aside from the "lightening" (ha - more like anchoring). Also, I lost four pounds between my 37th and 38th week appointments. I'm fairly certain that was all water weight.

Maggie - I reread your first post from last week, and now I have a craving for cookies... again! I am forcing myself to wait until after I work out to do anything about that. ;-) The two of us are almost at the finish line! Hooray!!

Morris - The fact that you are still running as much as you are is amazing! Any concerns about time and speed should be thrown out the window at this point. I was concerned about it for a while, and I discovered that personally, it's not worth the aggravation or the exhaustion.
I too felt nauseous practically 24/7, and that feeling started right after I found out I was pregnant, through my 16th week. I read on a previous checkin that eating apples and peanuts were a big help for someone else in the same boat. I would have tried that myself had I read that in time.

Tuvak - Which gym do you go to? I like how the instructor pointed out that if you and the other preggo could do the workout, they had no excuses. :) I'm pleased to read that you are migraine-free.

Shopaholic - I gained 10 pounds between two of my monthly appointments - I forget exactly which ones. I hadn't been gaining much before then, so I think I was just catching up. It's warmed up here in Chicagoland too - it's in the 30s - heat wave!!

Welcome to the checkin, Kim! Keep up the great work!

Wow Adrienne, you're doing great! Maybe you'll have a Christmas baby after all! I don't recall ever losing my mucous plug!

Adrienne, you are getting close.

I go to a aerobics studio called - The Firm a Workout Studio. No relation to The Firm. All the aerobics instructors there love the preggo ladies and make us feel like superstars all the time.

I had great workout week. I had another massage and still remain migraine free. My massage therapist said my neck wasn't nearly as tense as it was. The goal is a massage every two weeks through january and then to try and transition to a monthly massage in February and see if we can keep the migraines away. I feel so much better not taking all that medication. I was seriously stressing about taking so much medication. My Midwife encouraged me to try a chiropracter if the massages stop working. She was on board with me trying to find alternatives to taking the meds.

Morris - I agree don't worry about you running times and speeds. you will keep slowing down and there isn't much you can do about it. Remember being preganant is like running several marathons.

Okay onto my workout -
Mon - Jiggle free bun and 15 min run
Tues - Aerobics class -hi/lo and step
Weds - Circuit training class
Thurs - Spinning
Fri - 3 mile run
Sat - 75 min. hi/lo and step class
Sun - Off

Hoping for another good workout week.

hi everyone and merry christmas

hope everyone enjoyed time with family. i was with my niece(4) and 2 nephews(4.5 and 2.5). it was so nice to share christmas with kids, took my mind off my husband being gone, though on christmas eve, i was the water works queen. i could not stop crying! if anyone looked at me or mentioned my husband's name, i just cried and cried. and just when i thought my hormones were evening out....

now, a question to you all on weight gian. b/c i just spent time with my family, i got to hear how much and how little everyone gained. my older sister gained all of 20lbs during her pregnancy. and she was slight to start with. can i say i feel even bigger ujust hearing that and knowing i gained 7 my first 13 weeks? the dr said it was fine, but do you all honnestly think i need to try to cut it down? this is my first, and i don't want to hurt my baby, but i also don't want to make things harder. i am exercising a lot, but i just feel better when i eat. thanks for any insight.

my workouts went well. the best thing was i ran down in florida when i was there, and b/c it was so flat i think, i had no trouble. i am goign to try to search out some new places here in the cold northeast with less hills. i also enjoyed some balmy weather and sunshine:)
sunday - run 4 mil, 30 min elliptical
monday - run 7 mil, 30 min strength
tues - run 7 mil, 20 min strength
wed - run 5 mil, 20 min eliptical, muscle endurance
thrus - spin class 60 min, 25 min strength
fri - low max
sat - run 7 mil

last question - i still do ab work at week 14 on my back. i also still sleep some on my back (i cannot sleep well on my side). most books i read say this is fine until 20 weeks. anyone care to comment? thanks guys!

Hi ladies--

Adrienne--almost there! I lost my mucous plug with my 3rd child. It was pretty gross. I don't remember how long I lost it before I went into labor. I have an induction scheduled for Jan 9, one day past my due date.

Tuvak--glad to hear the migraines are going away.

Morris--how long is your husband gone from you? I would be really lonely without mine too.

Shopaholic--my actual due date is January 8th. I would love to have her on the 6th. It's possible. I did have one child 2 days early, the rest were a day or two late. (except #4 who was induced 4 days early because my blood pressure was rising).

My workout week:
Mon-GS CT timesaver+SJP step only
Tues-IMAX 2 (leg stuff instead of interval blasts)
Wed-50 min stationary bike
Thurs-off
Fri-GS BSB timesaver+C&W step only
Sat-rest
Sun-rest

I am very restless and time feels like it is just creeping along. It always gets this way for me at the end. I am uncomfortable and twitchy and I can't sleep or relax. I am also swelling quite a bit this week.

A friend of mine just had a spinal headache from her epidural. Now I am freaked out about having an epidural again. My first 2 births were natural and hurt like nothing I have ever experienced before or since. My 3rd I took narcotics and it helped until I hit transition and then the contractions were overwhelmingly painful. I finally broke down and had epidurals for 4 and 5 with no complications. They were wonderful and I was planning an epidural this time, however, after her experience, I am scared. I looked up the risks of an epidural online and now I really don't want one, but I am so afraid of the pain of childbirth. I will talk to my ob about my concerns tomorrow and meanwhile I am praying that I will make the right decision.

Look forward to hearing from the rest of you.

Maggie
38 weeks 1 day down, 1 week 6 days to go:p

Morris,
I think our weight gain is fine. You can't compare yourself to anyone else when it comes to weight gain. You are still exercising and being healthy. My midwife told me wieght gain is more of a concern if the person is sedentary.
Personally I'm not worrying about my weight gain - I'm just letting life happen because I could drive my self crazy about it or just except what happens and know I'm doing what I can to be healthy.

Hi everyone,
Morris, I have alreasy gained 10 pounds at week 17, all tummy. My doctor says this is fine. I believe as long as we are not living on junk and are exercising our bodies are gaining what they need.
Adrienne, hope you'll be leaving us soon for the postpartum group.
Tuvak, great workouts!
Maggie, I wouldn't worry about a possible epideral, complications are rare.

We had a nice christmas, Alexis had lots of fun with her cousins. We were away for the holiday. Last week we all had colds and then yesterday hubby, Alexis and I all got the stomache bug! Yuck, no workouts for the past 2 days due to the bug.

Workouts:
sun-stepworks
mon-push/pull +aeropump
Tues-rythymic step
Wed-firm standing legs/lowmax blasts
Thurs-gay gasper-greatest step+firm bodysculpt-upper
Fri-gay gasper -two jammin workouts-cardio strike
Sat-firm-the hare
Fri-

I doubt anyone of you has gained as much as me, although to be honest, I don't know how much I have gained, because I can't abide the scale while pregnant. I'll weigh myself at 2 weeks post partum and then have a better idea of the damage.

Shopaholic--glad you are feeling better. I'd rather have almost any type of illness than a stomach bug. I hate being nauseaus. Also, my ob was very reassuring about the safety of the epidural, so I am keeping my options open.

I'm now at a 2, but my cervix is still "long" and the baby is "floating", so labor does not appear immanent (sp?).

Time is creeping.....

maggie

are you ready to not be pregnant anymore or are you content where you are? do you tend to go early, late, or on time? it is amazing to think how close you are. i cannot imagine being that close, but it will come.

I am ready not to be pregnant, but since I know I never go early, that helps a bit to accept where I am. I usually give birth within a day or two of my due date. I have an induction scheduled for a day after I am due.

Now, I am wondering about Adrienne, who is due right about now.....:7 :7 :7

Wow Maggie, your pregnancy sure has gone fast!!! Doesn't pg's always go faster when they're not your own? LOL

Epidural headaches are extremely rare. I would have an epidural in a heartbeat if it meant I could delivery vaginally instead of via CSection. I really loved my epidurals. However, with a CSection I got a little button that let me drip Morphine in my bloodstream at a touch of a button. That was nice too. ;) I'm sure you will make the right decision...and you can always change your mind when the time comes. You know, it's amazing that you gain much weight at all with all the intense & consistent workouts you do. You are one of the most dedicated people I know!!! I"m so proud of you!! When I'm wondering if I can do another workout, I often think of YOU and your consistent dedication to inspire me. Thank you!!!

The rest of you ladies are doing marvelous too!! Adrienne, are you going to have a New Year's baby? Shopaholic, 10lbs is nothing...you are certainly on track. I'd love to see pictures of all your tummies!

Wow Maggie...only one week and four days (probably less now). You are doing just great!! I'll pray about your decision and the birth in general. I've had 6 babies without any medication....BUT I remember after the first I said "I completely understand why mom's want it AND I screamed for it, but the doc said the baby was under stress and he didn't want to give me anything". If he was standing closer I would have decked him. After making it through that one I used "water" to deal with the others. Lots of warm water!! Your going to do fine!!! And God will give you and the doc's wisdom!!! Remember STOMACH BREATHING. I had four miserably painful births until babies 5-6 ......I took in deep breaths as if to push my stomach out (during contractions). I always envisioned this would hurt more, but it made a HUGE difference. It's like I worked with the pain and pressed it right out through my stomach (hope that makes sense). Seems like it would hurt more, but it HELPS TREMENDOUSLY. Try doing a search on the internet....you can probably find some info on it. (((HUGS))))

Thanks, Briee. I was going to ask you about that stomach breathing stuff. I'll do a search for it. I don't know if I'll have access to warm water at the hospital. Some have those tubs and some don't. I don't think that mine does. They need to put one in every room.

Maggie:)
1 week, 1 day and time is dragging....
