Moms 2 Be Check In - Sept 17

FiddleFit

Cathlete
Hi everyone! I've finished all my workouts for the week, so thought I'd start the check in post. You know, just in case I'm not around to post anything tomorrow ;)

My week:
MON: Low Max step-only premix
TUES: Body Fusion
WEDS: PowerMax
THURS: High Step Circuit
FRI: Low Impact Step; TBStretch #3
SAT: Basic Step; Push Pull
SUN: rest

MSJ - I love what you did with IMAX3 last week. That's a great idea to sub weight work for the blasts! I'm going to try that some time!

Everyone who posted on last week's check in really did some amazing workouts! I think you're all an impressive bunch, even without being pregnant!

I had a prenatal appointment last Wednesday and was told that the baby is at either -1 or 0 station (can't tell for sure without doing an internal, which the midwives prefer to not do), and the baby is in the perfect position for birthing. She's ready, I'm ready, so enough already!! Tonight there will be a full moon around midnight (mountain time), and it's also my due date. Surely the two events combined will actually get things going? I woke up at 4am today and had some good cramps/contractions going for an hour, but by 5am they had stopped. I wasn't able to get back to sleep, so at 6am I got out of bed and did my workout. Wish me luck that tonight's the night!!!!

Cheers,
Sandra

Hello everyone!

My week:

Sun: 4 mile walk
Mon: Supersets
Tue: 1 mile walk
Wed: Timesaver #1
Thu: Rest
Fri: Timesaver #3
Sat: High Step Challenge (going to try this after I post)

Sandra, I hope that the full moon brings you great joy in the morning. :D Your workouts throughout your pregnancy have continued to inspire me.

MSJ, I'm also going to try the leg work instead of the blasts in IMAX3. What a great idea!

I have a spreadsheet to keep track of my workouts throughout my pregnancy. I reviewed June-July-August and saw a marked slowdown in intensity/length of the workouts. At the beginning of my pregnancy, I was hoping not to lose any fitness gains I had made. I'm actually OK with it now, should I discover postpartum that I'm not as fit as I was before. Hopefully the pregnancy weight is actually beneficial for postpartum fitness, like for runners who train in high altitudes to run races on lower ground. :)

I hope you all have a great week next week. Enjoy the (slightly) cooler temperatures!

Hi everyone,

This week was:

Sun - Total Body Scultping and Low Impact Step
Mon - KPC-Blocks and Kicks premix(-abs)
Tues - Rest
Wed - ME Upper Body Premix
Thurs - ME Lower Body Premix
Fri - Rest
Sat - Body Fusion

Sandra, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. It's so hard to believe that it's "that time" already! Best of Luck to you and may you not be on the boards tomorrow;).

Adrienne, I know what you mean. My workouts have decreased in length and intensity but I'm still trying to keep in mind that once my lungs have more room and I'm not so front heavy I may be surprised at how fast I'll get back to my pre-pregnancy fitness level. Besides, once I do start back full force - my system will definitely be "shocked" into losing that pregnancy weight!:)

Hey there everyone! Boy, what a beautiful weekend here in Minnesota. My DH & DS1 went up North this weekend & did I do some major housechanges!!! I moved my computer & bookshelf into another room. This was major as I had to clean out the new room before the computer could go into it.
I also got TurboJam this week, so I"ve been busy previewing and trying different things. It's sure nice for a variety.
Pregnancy wise I feel good. I'm getting very round. I feel like the baby is growing lots right now. I haven't weighed myself in a few days but I think I'm about 20 lbs or so above prepregnancy weight. My legs are beginning to ache more, and my back gets sore about 1/2 way into my workouts. I still plug away at them hoping to strengthen my back muscles!

Sun: off
Mon: off
Tues: Mindy's Awesome Intervals
Wed: off TWO NAPS!!!!
Thurs: Janis' Hardcore Kicbox Circuit
Fri: Turbo Jam Cardio Mix 2
Sat: Mindy's Cardio Toolbox Sections 1-2

Fiddlefit, you are there! You should be delivering this week, if not today. I'm doing the labor dance for you!! You're workouts are incredible, you should bounce back nicely!

Kristan, I hope your daugthers bday went well. That would seem weird having a celebration on 9-11. Our church celebrated their addition this date too.

Maggie, how are your new insurance issues faring? It seems as if you started a new IMax-Preganancy version. So many positive comments in regards to your modification. I hate leg work, so I won't be joining you. As always, your workouts rock!

Wendy, you weight gain is perfect. My last month I actually lost a couple of pounds, but then when I was weighed before birth (different scale) it was at about the 40-lb mark. I'm glad DH wasn't looking!!! You are so so close. My brother & his wife had their baby this week, and she was due Oct 15th. They're doin perfect, but it makes you think about 9 mos being just an estimate!!!

Stacy, rest & take it easy. You'll have more energetic weeks to come. Besides, naps feel so good, don't they?!!!

Dana, I hope you're feeling better. You're getting really close too. So many women, so close!!!

Adrienne, what is Step it Strong? It sounds interesting. I love Step workouts.

Gracenote, I hope everyone's fully recuperated from the stomach flu. Our family had it a couple of months ago. It's always a blessing to escape that during pregnancy! I lost 5 lbs in 2 days. You're workouts look great!

Have a great week!

My week:

Monday: walk/run stairs for 2.5 miles
Tuesday: walk 1 mile, pushing stroller
Wednesday: C+W, step first, then weights (good idea Adrienne)
Thursday: rest
Friday: LowMax 2,5,6,7
Saturday: swim 3/4 mile
Sunday: walk 1.25 mile

I didn't gain any weight at my 33 week appointment, which didn't surprise me because I have totally lost my appetite. I am going to bug my ob again about a late ultrasound to check size. She said, "oh, you had no problem with a 9 pound baby" to which I responded, "yes, but I may opt for another c//section if this is a 10 pound baby." (first baby was a c/s, second was a vbac, FWIW).

I'm glad I got some good exercise in last week because this week promises to be my most busy work week all year. I have to work 4 days instead of my regular 3. Once this is over, I am going on cruise control until maternity leave. I am hoping to get in a 'hard' leg video, a good walk, and maybe do LIS again, with arm work this time.

Sandra- good luck. You must be in great shape going into labor!
Melanie- the birthday party went well, but I was so tired. I told my husband we will NOT have any large groups to the house until the baby's baptism party.
Dana- that was a lot of physical activity with walking and cleaning. Hope you felt better.
GraceNote- I have been too scared to do BodyMax. that is one hard hour and a half; i usually divide it in half.
MSJ- I don't do triples, never have, never will. I feel so goofy doing them, and I cannot turn around fast enought when pregnant to keep up.

Have a good week

Kristan, due 11-1, #3

Hi everyone!

I am scared to go to my prenatal app't this week, because I have gained so much weight this month, but here are my excuses:p --first,stress, stress and more stress--being exposed to fifth's disease and my husband and his sister are having to take their dad to court to get what is called a "conservatorship", because their dad has completely lost his mind and his control over his finances and is going to lose everything if they don't step in. The problem is, he is completely unable to see the problem, and so he can't understand why they are doing this. It's very sad and puts us all in an akward position.

second excuse--having to take time off exercise and lower intensity because of my back (which is feeling almost normal--hurray)

third excuse--we were actually able to get to our family's summer cabin for a few days. Usually our vacations are extremely active--lots of long hikes in the mountains to offset all the eating. Not this time. We were soooo lazy. I tried to put my 30 lb toddler on my back and just could not do it. So we layed around and ate and ate.

OKAY??!!so that is why I am a total cow this month, but I think that next month will be better, because I have purposed that it will be so.

My workouts
Mon-GS CT timesaver+C&W cardio only premix
Tues-IMAX 2 pregancy version (step+leg weights instead of the blasts)
Wed-GS BSB timesaver+SJP step part only
Thurs-walked a couple of miles at the High Desert Museum
Fri-walked about a mile....slowly
Saturday-walked another mile....slowly
Sunday-Low Impact Step+Total Body Sculpting circuit premix, with heavier upper body weights.

Sandra--hang in there and keep us posted, it really is not too much longer (although for you every hour seems like an eternity, I know)
Adrienne--I was surprised at how quickly my body got its old fitness level back. I mean it was sooo much easier to just breath once the baby was born. We are working under extra stress, which will be gone at some point.
Kristan--I am hoping that if my baby looks like it is going to be huge(my last one was 10 lbs 7 oz), that my ob will induce me a couple of weeks early. My babies keep getting bigger!!! It could get a little scary.

take care everyone else!!!

Hey Maggie, I have trouble keeping Justin on my back now. He's getting so heavy. I bought a real expensive one...thinking that I'd be able to use it until he was like 4 or so. It's just not going to happen. I can see why you wouldn't be able to do it with your sore back + pregnancy!

Kristan, 10 lb baby's are huge!!!! I cannot imagine delivering that vaginally. My platelets run low, & many anethesiologists won't give me an epidural...so I opted for a CSection. I had back labor last time & there's no way I could get through a VBAC without an epidural!!!

Hey all!

Had an appt today - can't believe I'm up to the 2-week ones already! Good news (for me, at least!) The baby is measuring small, so we're on track for an early delivery - wahoo!! :) Of course, things could catch up by my next appt., but I'm focusing on the positive! I don't know what the cause is, but my babies just seem to slow down on the growth curve around 7 months, so the sooner we get them born and start breast feeding, the better they are.

Had a bad week last week, and this one isn't looking good. DH is still not doing well with his recovery. Everything is progressing normally, but I guess this kind of thing takes awhile. He's too dizzy and sick to watch the girls, so my workouts are not looking like a possibility. We're leaving for the Outer Banks on Friday and I have a major HR certification test on Thursday, so I guess I can put the time to good use...

I was hoping to pop in and see a labor/birth announcement....anyone have any news? (crossing fingers for good news!)

KC

Will your baby come early because of induction? or do smaller babies tend to be earlier babies? I've never been earlyx( and it would be nice just for once to be just a little bit early....

I'm sorry to hear that your husband is recovering so slowly. It is so hard for me when my other half is sick. I just said a prayer for you and him--

take care
Maggie:)

Hi everyone. Things are going smoothly for me. My only real complaint is difficulty breathing. I don't feel like my lungs are crowded--I can still take in a lot of air. It just feels like it isn't working--like the air isn't being absorbed. That sounds weird, I know, but it's hard to describe.

I am a little stressed because I have a big job interview coming up in a few weeks. The interview part doesn't scare me, but it also involves giving (gulp) a presentation to faculty. The pregnancy shouldn't be an issue because the job doesn't start until the next school year, but it will be a little odd to give a talk with a big belly. I have to find something professional to wear before then. I don't want to wait until the last minute, but I am sure I'll grow in the next few weeks too and I don't want to buy the wrong size.

Anyway, here's what I did last week:

Sunday: Low Max step portions only
Monday: Supersets
Tuesday: rest
Wednesday: Body Fusion
Thursday: rest
Friday: Cardio & Weights (no abs)
Saturday: Muscle Max Legs only premix + Stability ball abs

I continue to be impressed with everyone's efforts. This is so inspiring to me. So many people I know don't exercise during pregnancy, and I think if I didn't have this forum and check in, it would be really easy to rationalize NOT doing it. But I see people here doing workouts I found challenging before I was pregnant! Makes me optimistic. Granted, I have never done this before and I know childbirth takes a lot out of you, but it gives me hope that recovery will be a lot smoother for those of us who maintained such a high level of fitness throughout pg.

Maggie -

Thanks for the prayers - they do help!! DH went to work yesterday and today, but had to come home by noon both days. He did say that he feels better this evening than he did yesterday, and the internal swelling is going down, so he can breathe a little easier. I always feel guilty for complaining about him - he does have so many good traits and dang it, I love him for all that he is. I think it's because we're such a good 'team' that makes it so hard when one of us is down. I'm not saying we're perfectly harmonious all the time ;-) but he's a great partner even with all the fireworks and drama!

As to the 'early' hopes, I'm talkin' induction :) I've been induced with both of the girls and it really worked out for the best. With #1, they waited until 41 weeks and she was still only 5 1/2 pounds. She actually weighed more at 39 weeks according to the ultrasound. With #2, they were aware that waiting might not solve anything, so we went a few weeks early and she was perfect. I'm hoping that if there's going to be a problem, we can diagnose it early and get the induction locked in so I can quit worrying about it. And, hey, if I can cut a few weeks off my 9(10) month 'sentence' I'm not gonna complain! ;-) Gotta get back to Cathe as soon as possible - she's got new workouts coming out, don't ya know!! :)

Well you ladies continue to amaze me with your progress!

My Cathe workouts are collecting dust and I miss them, but don't have any energy to make me truly miss them, iykwim.

I ended up back in the hospital on thursday once agian for more contractions. My medicine, terebutaline, had been given to me at the highest dosage I could take, and I was still having contractions. So they took me off my meds in the hospital on friday morning, and I stayed for observation. This was done to get me resensitized to the meds at a lower dosage. I got back on my meds on monday, at a lower dosage, and was discharged yesterday.

Baby girl is looking good, and I'm not dialating which is really good news. As of last week she was 4 lbs 2 oz :) . The frustrating thing is when they took me off my meds over the weekend I had very intense aweful contractions in the evening. What that means for me is when they take me off all my meds in my 36th week, is that I will probably have to deliver early or will go into early labor. So we are still living in a world of the unknown for a while still. I'm doing pretty well back on my meds, and hopefully they won't tap out again in my dosage amount in the next 3 weeks, have no clue what steps we would take then. I'm holding my breath that I make it the next 2 weeks without much complications so I don't have to take magnesium sulfate. So I'm just living the high life on the couch and thankful for every good day I get. Hard to believe I may be holding my little girl in 3 weeks. So that's me, keep up the good work ladies!

Julie, it seems like you've really been struggling there these past few weeks. I've said a little prayer for you & your precious little girl.

Julie--hang in there--just said a prayer for you and the little one, also. Every day that you don't go into labor is a good day and it sounds like your little one is a good size and developing will. I think if you make it to 36 weeks that would be very good. I'll keep praying for you.

Gracenote--glad to hear your husband is better and I hope you get your early induction. I want to be induced, because I have to pay a deductible every year and by the end of the year I will have met it--but it all starts over January 1st and the baby is due the 8th. I hope my ob is sympathetic and will induce me at the end of December--after all he is the one worried about me having another very large baby.

Maggie:)
