It's been a hectic week, and a busy weekend, and I am plum tuckered out. I hope everyone's had a good week!

Sandra

Sandra, as usual great workouts! It amazes me how you have the energy to do all of this.

Well, DH is out of town again. This time he is in FL and won't be back until 2 a.m. Thursday, which means I won't get to see him until about 9 p.m. Thursday because he will have to pull a late night at the office. I can honestly say, I don't know how single parents do it all. I mean, I'm used to handling everything around the house and yard myself, but that little extra help from DH is a tremendous help. (DH would do more if I let him. I have control issues and would rather do things myself than ask.) Those few spare minutes to myself really help a lot. In any case, my workouts were sparce last week. I did Bootcamp UB/LB Premix on Monday and walked our dog (30 minutes) on Tuesday and push mowed our lawn (1 hour). Between DS and our dog not sleeping at night every day last week, and me getting up to blow my nose almost every 2 hours, I barely got any sleep at all. To top it off, I had to go to the doctor last week to see what could be done about the poison ivy all over my neck. The weekend before we were at my brother's old farm house and I think Alexander got some poison ivy on his shirt and it must have rubbed off on me when I went to pick him up. Oh well, it could always be worse. I hope everyone else had a productive week and got in great workouts.

Take care and have a good week!!

Hi ladies. Sandra your workouts look great as usual. :) My workouts look pretty pitiful once again. My cold is finally gone and I feel great but I just cannot seem to find the time to squeeze in a workout. I get up at 5:00 as it is for work and I get home around 4:00. Until I make dinner, clean up, do some housework, play with my son outside & get him ready for bed it is around 8:00-8:30 and by then I don't feel like working out. During the winter months is was so much easier b/c he playing inside while I worked out. Starting tonight he'll be doing swimming lessons from 6:30-7:00 every night for three weeks straight. I"ve also noticed that my thighs and butt are really suffering due to lack of exercise. If I do not work them faithfully at least 3xweek they start to jiggle.

Sun: nothing
Mon: walked 3.5 miles
Tues: walked 3.5 miles and push mowed our lawn (40 minutes)
Wednesday: walked 3.5 miles and PUB (pyramid up only) no abs
Thursday: walked 3.5 miles
Friday: nothing - rained all day
Sat: hiked the mountain behind my parents house (about 1 mile) and played baseball with my son

Have a great week everyone!

Goodmorning!

Monday: KPC premix 37 min modified

Tuesday: 1.2 mile speed walking

Wednesday: rest

Thursday: 2 miles

Friday: rest

Saturday: Gym Style Legs 60 min - I did all the bonus reps and didn't have to put down my weights this time - YEAH

Sunday: PUB premix 30 min

Pretty decent week, so far I'm feeling good, weight is moderate right now - well on the home scale. Does anyone else hate the doctor's office scale too? Last check up I had was late afternoon, after two meals for the day x( . This one this week is in the morning, I hope it shows a more truer weight - aren't pg ladies crazy! I knew a girl who wore the same outfit to every doctor visit to get an "accurate" reading of her weight gain LOL! I'm not that desperate ... may get close if the scale looks evil this week. At home it's saying weight gain of 5 lbs, I'm gonna go with that ;-)

Dana, your workouts look great, not pitiful at all! I'm glad you are feeling beter. I definitely understand what you mean about finding time to squeeze in a workout. My day is very similar to yours. Between 6-6:30 every morning I am up & ready for work and drop DS off at daycare so I can be at work at 8. I normally get home by 5:30, make dinner, take DS outside to play, straighten up, and then get him ready for bed which is 9 p.m. If I work out I have to do it after DS is in bed but by that time the only thing I want to do is take a shower and go to bed. It is very challenging to fit everything in especially since we both work full-time. Maybe I would have the extra energy to fit in more workouts if I could actually sleep just one night all the way through without interruptions. BTW I think you are doing great! Just do what you can!

Have a great day!

Hi all- it's me, Lisa! My Lilypie ticker's not working from home, but I'm now 37w 4 days along :)

Maternity leave is wonderful...my 2nd internal last Thurs showed 1-2 cm dilated and 25% effaced. She thinks I'll go to term (June 9th) with a 7.5-ish lb boy :)

I'm still getting some good walks in, and DH and I have been really productive with the home projects! OK I'll check in as often as possible-

Lisa

Kristi: Thank you for you kind words. I was *thinking*, key word is thinking, if I could just get up at 4:50 and do one of the 20min premixes for LB I"d feel much better but I doubt I'll have the energy to get up any earlier. I"m up at least 2-3 times a night to use the bathroom as it is so I'm not getting a good night's sleep.

Julie: I think that the scales in the doctor's offices are evil. LOL. Usually the morning of my appt I will weigh myself (naked of course) and I keep track of that in a book that I got on my first pre-natal appt. I go by my scale b/c it is always lower (not saying it is accurate) but it is always about 3lbs less then the doctors.

but it is always about 3lbs less then the doctors

No joke - me too! I think the key is to weigh naked first thing in the morning. This morning I did, then after a coffee - no breakfast yet , I weighed myself agian an hour later. It showed an increase of a whole lb! So the first weigh in is what I go with. I too have been keeping track of my home weight and not the doctors.

Here's my week:

Monday: run at riverfront, wharf to wharf, with a few runs up and down Arch stairs.

Tuesday: nothing

Wednesday: Cardio and Weights

Thursday: gym for 45 minutes

Friday: Imax2 1-7, 10 minutes pilates. I had never done IMAX2 before. It is SO MUCH better than plain old IMAX.

Saturday: Nothing, but bought a new minivan. (JulieL- went to Uncle Bill's pancake house before dealer, LOL). I've been putting off that purchase for as long as I can, but am really pleased and know my life will be easier with the van. It fits my jog stroller perfectly, and there's still room for our 110 pound dog if I want to take him too.

Sudnay: Imax2 8-10, CoreMax #2 with modifications, 10 minutes "buns and thighs" pilates.

I think everyone had great weeks. And I think being pregnant and even remotely concerned about exercising, be it walking or weights or aerobics or whatever, is commendable.

Sandra- how was StepFit? For some reason, i have a total dread factor on this one and I am not sure my fear is well founded. I haven't done it for at least a year. I just remember hating the flying angels.

Kristan, due 11-1-05, #3

everyone's workouts are looking great...esp. compared to mine.:-(
i did manage to sneak in push and pull once this week and a 45 min treadmill walk once this week. other than that it's been 30 min. walks and sat. we were outside completing the landscaping in our front yard from 9am to 8pm...i would definitely say that counted as a workout as i was sore afterwards and had to soak in the bathtub for a little while.

i too agree, the scale at my dr.'s office is evil...my dr. told me the scale is off by at least 3lbs. so i keep track off my weight using my home scale and i weigh myself first thing in the morning before having anything to eat.

Julie, count me as another one who hates the doctor's scale. I weigh myself naked every Monday morning first thing upon waking to try to get an accurate number on a weekly basis. However, that does not mean that I like what it says. LOL

Would it be inappropriate or too personal to ask how much everyone has gained so far? To date I have gained, according to my scales, 21 pounds. Most of this is my fault since I have not been exercising or eating as well as I should. I think I am about the same as I was when pregnant with DS. By the end of the pregnancy I had gained 40 pounds. I'm really hoping to not gain as much this time, but circumstances being what they are I might not have much choice. However, I have big plans after this little one arrives to lose all the baby weight and then a little bit more.

Lisa, let the countdown begin. Your due date is quickly drawing near. Please keep us posted on your progress and when the little on arrives. :) :)

It sounds like everyone here had a pretty good week :) Mine was good as well. I'm still struggling big-time with fatigue but my morning sickness is getting much better. I managed 4 workouts this week plus had a couple of busy nights at work so I'm pleased. I used to love to work out every day and now I really have to psyche myself up to do it, but once I get started it is fun and I have more energy.:)

Monday: Push/Pull
Wednesday: Cardio and Weights
Thursday: Rhythmic Step
Sunday: Power Circuit

Kristi, I have gained 2 pounds so far, but I am only 9 1/2 weeks along. I feel sick if I eat too much in one sitting so I have been grazing a lot. I hope my appetite comes back soon!

Last week was pretty dismal, but this week is starting off better. Saturday, we took the girls to the YMCA (40 minute drive each way!) and ended up joining and spent an hour in the pool. DD#1 will start swimming lessons next month, and the cost of those was just a little less than the membership. I'm hoping that they have some child watch hours that coordinate with my schedule so I can maybe get a weekly workout in, too. Hey - it's one more workout than I'm getting! :)

Anyway, for weigh-ins - naked, first thing in the morning after going to the bathroom. Every girl on the planet knows this is the ONLY weight that should ever be used! :) I'm a little compulsive - I weigh myself every morning (always have, always will) As of this morning, I've gained about 2 pounds, but if it weren't for the nausea, that number would have a zero after it. I'm hungry ALL the time and only the threat of immediate vomiting has kept me from eating everything in sight! Kind of weird - hungry and sick at the same time.

I truly believe that, within limits, every woman has a pre-set amount of weight she'll gain when pregnant, and holding everyone to the same 25-35 pound standard is a little unreasonable. If you're healthy and doing the best you can to deal with all the curves (literally!!) pregnancy throws at you, you should be allowed to enjoy yourself a little... ;)

Hi everyone--

I am sick and hungry almost all of the time. I don't know how you guys gain so little. I've already gained 5lbs and I'm only 7 weeks. (I think a lot of it is like TTOM weight, because I gained it in about a week's time and have stablized since then a bit.)

when I'm morning sick, I've just got to eat what I can stomach and unfortunately, that was nacho flavored chips and cheese a couple of days ago and then the thought of that made me sick. Yesterday, I had to have a turkey sandwhich. Deli meat scares me because of Listeria, but I just had to have one. Today I had to have pretzels and cheese (a little better than chips) and now I am craving yogurt covered raisens....

my workouts
Mon--GS/SH chest hybrid, IMAX 3 intervals 1-5
Tues--IMAX 3 step only/Low Max intervals 1-4
Wed--GS/SH biceps hybrid/Low Max intervals 4-7
Thurs--SH shoulders/KM kick punch drills
Fri--Viper, cardio only for 45 minutes, then quit. I was bushed.
Sat--GS/SH back/triceps hybrid/ IMAX 3 step only

take care everyone
Maggie

To date I have gained 13 lbs. With my son I gained 27lbs and I really hope to do the same this time.

I'm right with those of you who are planning on losing the baby weight plus some.

Hi again!

Kristi - it sounds like you're battling a lot things these days! How's the poison ivy? Is the baby still positioned on it? I think I can be so consistent with my workouts because I am not trying to work a full-time job at the same time. I also work at home, and when it's convenient for me. I work out at 6am (out of bed at 5:30am), which means I'm in bed by 9pm every night. I was exhausted the other night and went to bed at 8pm. And yes, it is completely inappropriate to ask pregnant women how much weight they've gained LOL! But I'll tell you anyway :D I'm up around the 23-26 pound mark so far ;(

Dana - that looks like a terrific week to me! You do a lot of walking! When do you manage to fit that into your schedule? Your day is pretty packed, that's for sure. One suggestion that might work for you would be to hire a trusted teenager to play with your son outside a couple of evenings a week so you can do your workout?

Julie - Good week!! Sadly, my home scale seems to match the doctor's pound for pound. I just loathe the scale altogether!

Lisa - Good to hear from you! So you're dilating, huh? How exciting! Good luck with all those home projects! June 9 is getting very close!

Kristan - great workouts! I really like StepFit. I used to use it for lighter workout days, but now that I'm pregnant it's the perfect level for me. Cathe's feeling quite light-hearted in that one, and I always find her amusing ("Was that a sheep?"). I'm not a big fan of the flying angels, either. They are such a small part of the workout that you could easily substitute something you like better (such as 3 knee repeaters), and not affect the overall workout much. IMAX2 has a huge fun-factor, compared to IMAX! Once I was introduced to IMAX2, I had a hard time going back to IMAX.

Sunnydelite - all that walking is great exercise! You're doing really well!

Jules - you got those workouts in even with terrible morning sickness? That's amazing. Only a few more weeks, and hopefully it will be gone.

Gracenote - hungry and nauseated at the same time? Awful!! The first trimester is just a cruel joke of nature, isn't it?

MSJ - your first trimester eating sounds a lot like mine! Your workouts this week were very intense! That's quite a lot of work for someone who's feeling so terrible. Impressive!

Cheers,
Sandra

Okay, I think I'm starting to feel a little better. I'm having some good days now, with little nausea. My appetite is okay. My energy is low, but not zero. Things may be looking up. My first ob appt isn't until 14 weeks. My belly is swelling a bit already..but scale shows only +3 or so lbs now. I'm happy with that. I wanted to wait to tell my employer until my ob appt. Now I'm wondering if that is smart or not. When did YOU guys tell?

Maggie, your workouts are incredible. It's amazing that you gain any weight at all, burning all those major calories & taking care of 5 kids.

Gracenote, I know EXACTlY what you mean nausea + hunger. It seems like food is the only thing that subdues my nausea. Sometimes food makes it worse though. Not with my other pregnancies, but this time around. I've also tend to be on the runny side with bowels. Anyone else have this?

Julie, my dr's office scale is at least 5 lbs over my at home scale. Always has been.

Oakie doakie. I'll have to catch up with the rest of you pregos later!

Sun: TS#1
Mon: off
TUE: 4 mi run
Wed: off
Thurs: TS#4
Fri: 4 mi run

4 days, not too bad. ;)

Sandra - I'm happy to report that the poison ivy is slowly going away. However, I now have it under my wedding ring. Beats me how it got there. LOL It appears that this pregnancy is full of obstacles and will continue to be so for a quite a while, probably until August when DH should be finished traveling. I'm just glad DH will be coming home early tomorrow morning, even though I won't get a chance to speak or really see him until tomorrow night. At least we have a 3 day weekend coming up. We are planning on going back to my inlaws house and bringing DS's baby stuff back. I can at least go through the clothes and see what I can use again for DD.

On a bright note, tomorrow is my next doctor's appointment and another ultrasound. I'm so looking forward to seeing DD again.

It sounds like everyone is doing great! What a terrific bunch of women we have! Thanks for sharing your weight gain with me. Normally I would not ask something so personal, but I feel like I know many of you and lately I feel like I am completely off track.

Have a great day!!
