Mom's 2 B Check-in week of 10/9

Hi ladies! Hope everyone is doing well. These last few weeks have been really tough on me. To add to insomnia, now I have moderate-severe back pain + heartburn. I wonder if it's b/c I'm getting older? I hadn't suffered from so many ailments in 3rd trimester before. This is all new to me. I got a maternity belt & thermopatches for back pain. Limiting chocolate and other things to help with heartburn. :( I feel like I have de ja vu (1st trimester). Workouts will remain LOW impact, when able:

Tues: Step Blast 1-3
Thurs: SPC/SB 42min premix + Turbo Sculpt standing abs
Sat: Janis Saffell's Tae Chi

That's it!!! My 'weakest' week yet! I got the Turbo System at the Goodwill store for $4 today. I might try that this week if my back is feeling up to it. Otherwise, it'll just be rest & recuperation until I"m feeling better.

Yesterday I began to unpack baby-to-be's clothes. I don't have too many girl things. If it's a girl I'll have to take her shopping. ;) It's was awesome to look at those itsy bitsy clothes again. Could I be nesting?

Julie, are you out there?

Shopaholic, your workouts look incredible..as always

Gracenote, it sounds like you've begun to count down the days too? That skeleton costume sound so cute!!

Kristan, YOU"RE SO CLOSE!! I'm envious!!! Almost there. How are you feeling?

Jogger7474, I know all about uncomfortable sleeping positions. I think bodypillows are awesome. I've used them for years even when I"m not pregnant. DH bought us a sleepnumber bed several months back. I"m hoping THAT'S not what's giving me insomnia!!!

Maggie, I'd like just 25% or so of your energy!!! I don't know how you do it!!!

Hi Melani--I don't feel like I have that much energy. I've been doing low impact for a while, now, except for the occasional jack or calf pump or over face in over--maybe a few little hops here and there, but not much. I am so tired. I do think it is because I am older. Right now, I don't want to go through pregnancy again (but we'll see how I feel in two years). I've never had such a feeling of just being done. It's not the number of children, it's that pregnancy is sooo hard and gaining and losing weight. Maybe adoption in the future. Hubby and I are both open to it, but we have no money and unfortunately, taking in unwanted children is hugely expensive (unless one goes through the state, but that has its own set of difficulties.....rambling....)

I'm sorry you are having so many 3rd trimester ailments. I had heartburn with my 1st child, but never after that. I hope it stays that way. Back pain has plagued me for the last 3 babies. I am going to get serious about core work post partum (I hate core work, but I see how lack of it has affected my backx()

You are sooo close. Just hang in there one day at a time...

My workouts:
Mon-Step Jam--I thought I was going to die
Tues-Body Fusion
Wed-1 hour bike while wistfully watching the ME/BC bonus premix
Thurs-rest
Fri-MM leg premix+Lowmax 4-7
Sat-MM upper body premix+Imax 2 1-5 (did lowmax inspired intervals)
Sun-I plan to bike for an hour, while watching something that I cannot do now to inspire me for post partum.

I hope everyone else is doing well.

I have my glucose test this week and have not weighed myself at all this month....I'm dreading that my doctor might lecture me, but I'm so hungry:9 :9 (whining tone of voice)

Maggie:)
28 weeks down, hopefully less than 12 to go, but not likely

Hi everyone!

This past week, I wasn't able to work out as often as I would have liked. I worked late and then a plumbing emergency got in the way:

Sun: Total Body Sculpting and Push/Pull
Mon: 1 mile walk
Tue: SJP Step and Hi/Lo (1% Hi, 99% Lo)
Wed: Supersets
Thu: Rest
Fri: Unplanned rest day - hot water heater sprung a leak :-(
Sat: 3.4 mile walk

Melanie - Back pain is just starting for me - lower back mainly. How effective are those thermopatches?

Maggie - I have my next OB appointment on Wednesday, and I plan to get on the scale backwards so I don't have to know how much I weigh now. It feels like my belly has doubled in size since my last appointment a little less than three weeks ago.

I look forward to reading everyone else's posts.

I cannot relate to back pain, but my heartburn is terrible! It's so bad that I wake up gagging with reflux almost every night. I am taking Nexium, which is barely working.

Anyway, my week:
Monday: gym, 45 minutes, cardio machines
Tuesday: nothing
Wednesday: Crunch Boot Camp, Cathe Bootcamp cardio 1,2,4,6,7,8
Thursday: walk/run stairs, 2.5 miles
Friday: ME lower body only, on a regular step
Saturday: participate in DD's school "walk-a-thon"...she completed 2 miles (not bad for a 5 yo)
Sunday: Said DD is turning 5, so we're having birthday party mania all day

I'm getting very anxious/nervous/excited about my pending due date (10-31). I was late with #1 and #2, so I am not thinking I'll be too early, if at all. I am having an ultrasound on 10-24, and will likely start acupuncture after that (to initiate labor). I'm not really into alternative medicine, but I did have success with acupuncture with my second delivery.

take care!

Hi everyone,
Melanie, sorry this pregnancy is harder for you, wow , you are getting close.
Maggie, do you really think this is the last pregnancy?
Kristen, great job working out til the end.
Jogger , great workout week despite the plumbing emergency.

My stomache started getting upset last weekend so I've lowered my workouts. I have been on a firm kick.

Sun-fitprime-steamin cardio +some of push/pull +firm abs-day 1 abs
Mon-tough tape 1 and some parts of tt2
Tues-total body shaping mix
wed-super cardio
Thurs-express cardio +adv. cardio blast
Fri-complete muscle shaping+ thigh work and abs plus max. cardio burn
Sat-core cardio 1

Don't know how to use the counters but I am now 8 weeks preggo ,32 more to go.

Melanie – yes!! I’m counting!! :) And I HEAR ya about the 3rd tri complaints!! I can’t remember being so anxious to be DONE, but I am so uncomfortable now, that’s all I can think about! I don't want to admit it, but I think age is definitely a factor at this point...

Maggie – I’ve been thinking about our next one, too. I was just starting to put my summer maternity stuff away and thought I should just box them up for donation. Something stopped me. Maybe the far reaches of my subconscious aren’t ready to call it quits yet…

Adrienne – bummer about the hot water tank – that can be such a mess! Hope you got it all fixed without having to spend an arm and leg for the plumber!

Kristan – really amazing workout schedule! I hope your baby comes sooner than later – you only have a few weeks to go at any rate.

Shopaholic – I got my baby ticker at lilypie.com, but I had to play with the code in my Cathe signature to make it work. Funny thing is that it’s helped me keep track – I really forget how many weeks I am unless I check here. Sorry your stomach is starting to bother you – I guess it’s never too soon to start modifying, though. It’s better to stay comfortable and hang in for the long haul – you don’t want to get an injury or anything at this point.

I had a good week beginning, but then (for the first time EVER) was hit with a sciatic nerve ‘attack’ I don’t know how else to describe it – I was okay one minute, then, it felt like a knife went down my left butt and leg. I couldn’t move! I thought I’d pulled something… It started to affect the right side, too, when I woke up the next morning. I’m now walking like a 94 year old with prosthetic legs. I can’t do steps unless I go one at a time. REALLY annoying!!! I actually got stuck on the floor while folding laundry and DH had to help me unbend my legs so I could roll over to get up.

What do you do to make this stop?! Anyone have any tips? HELP!! I’m working a charity function tomorrow that will have me up for work at 4:30 am and I won’t be home until midnight. I’m wearing heels for the evening (formal dinner), so I’m hoping I can just push through it. I don’t think the pain is doing any damage, right? It’s just a nerve? I can’t work out and feel horrible just laying (sitting is NOT an option) around…

It sounds like everyone is feeling a bit of the strain - I think that we women are pretty tough cookies to be able to get through it all! Here's to the benefits of working out - can you imagine how much worse it would be without being in shape?! Hang in and have a great week!

KC
