It's sick!
This country is so obsessed with looks and it gets worse yr after yr. Instead of teaching children to grow up to be responsible, caring, productive adults- we're teaching them that looks are the only thing that matters. I can only inagine how scarred this little girl will be once she reaches adulthood. She's been put on a long, hard road thanks to the person that is supposed to protect her, not subjectify her. It's sad bc now, the Botox is the least of the worries- think about how this will *mold* her?! EDs, Low Self Esteem, Body Dismorphic Disorder, are only a few of what will haunt her. The mother says it's fine bc:
a) other pageant moms do it
b) she gives it to herself
Moral of the story: as Mothers and Women we are role models. How we talk and treat ourselves is mirrored onto the children. You obsess over yourself and your looks, it turns up in your children. Same with food, wrinkles, fat-talk, and self defeating actions. Take this a wake up call to treat yourself better and be the best and safest parent/role model you can be.
On a side note, a favorite quote of mine:
"Botox might save your face but it can't save your a$$" (sub in "a$$" for any other word of choice).
