Moe's Southwest Grill

My father has moved to Florida for the winter, but comes up every two weeks to work. While he's here, we get together for dinner once during the week. Tonight he wants us to stop and get something from Moe's Southwest Grill and bring it to his house.

I just started trying to drop about 7 pounds last week and I don't want to blow this week's hard work on one meal. Any suggestions on what's safe to get from Moe's?

I've never been there, but I looked at their menu and would advise you to have the Close Talker salad, but don't eat the tortilla bowl, and ask for a low-cal dressing, or bring your own. You could also ask them to go easy on the shredded cheese, or leave it off entirely.

Ummm...I don't know what to tell ya. I couldn't control myself there! But I am a mexican food freak. Probably go with something grilled, minus the cheese, sauce, and sour cream.

Not familiar with the restaurant, but when DH and I get Mexican, we split a meal. We started doing it when I was on Weight Watchers. We get a combo that has a two potato quesadilla (less cheese than the usual) rice, and a bean burrito. I'd even count out my 12 tortilla chips! The whole thing was 12 or 13 points, so I'd definitely plan my points around it.

Would splitting be an option?

Yes, what I'd probably end up doing is just eating half and saving the rest for tomorrow. DH will probably eat it for breakfast. He's weird like that.

I'm doing the Weight Watchers thing right now and I'm only allowed 18.5 points a day! Is that madness or what?!?! My bowl of Kashi and glass of skim milk in the morning is 7 points for Pete's sake! 18.5 points - ugh!!!!

Scary. I just went to their website and didn't see any nutritional information :)

I've eaten there and when you look at their menu, the contents are listed. You can at least make an informed decision based on the contents.

18.5??? Is that the minimum? When I was on it, the lowest that you could do was 18-24 points per day. Have they changed something????

Donna- I LOVE Moe's!! Their grilled chicken tacos, no cheese, sour cream or guac are awesome!!!

Candi- they DO have nutritional information on the website. You have to click on the link at the bottom of the page.

Here's the cool thing about the nutritional link....you customize what you are going to order and it will add in the calories/fat/fiber so you can figure out your points before you go!!! You can add/subtract ingredients as well!

Here the link---

Hi - The Moe's we went to is in Orchard Park. The corner of Southwestern and 240 (Tops Plaza by Timmy Ho's).

I think I did alright. I got a burrito with grilled chicken, pinto beans, rice and a little cheese. I ate only half of it and my husband ate the rest for breakfast.

Tell me about it! I don't know if they've changed anything, as I've never done Weight Watchers before. But there's that whole extra "35 points" they give you a week, so I guess if I split those up - I get an extra 5 points a day...

The thing that stinks is that I didn't have my actual weight when I started, so I guessed. And I couldn't weigh myself last week because the scale in the pharmacy was behind a locked gate when I got to the grocery store. So I have no idea if I've lost anything. I've lost my cheeseburgers and fries is all I know...

That sounds good. Wish I could've eaten the leftovers this morning instead! Cept for the beans I would've let your DH have those!;-)
