Minutes of cardio per week?

How many minutes of cardio should I be doing per week? (I'd like to lose 5 lbs; I also don't eat the best)

I think I'd like to try and look at my weekly cardio minutes rather than feel like I HAVE to do 30 or 45 mins of cardio per session. If I'm tired, and don't feel up to 30 mins, sometimes I won't do any at all. This may not work at all, but I just wanted to try something new. Maybe it could help me stop my "all or nothing" attitude that I sometimes have.

Hi 123! There are 3,500 calories in a pound of body fat. If you were to cut back your calories by 250 to 500 per day and exercise off 250 to 500 per day, you would lose 1 to 2 pounds a week. Anymore than this is not considered an optimistic way to lose weight. You burn approximately 6 to 10 calories a minute during your cardio workouts. So over the course of the week you can use this calculation to give you the best guess as to how much cardio you need to do weekly in order to burn off/lose 5 pounds over time. Remember to factor in other things you do in daily life for some of your calorie burn too. Good Luck!
