Meth

A poem about Meth...Scary but true!!!! just wanted to share!

I destroy homes, I tear families apart,
I take your children, and that's just the start. I'm more costly than diamonds, more precious than gold,
The sorrow I bring is a sight to behold.
If you need me, remember I'm easily found,
I live all around you - in schools and in town.
I live with the rich, I live with the poor,
I live down the street, and maybe next door.
I'm made in a lab, but not like you think,
I can be made under the kitchen sink.
In your child's closet, and even in the woods,
If this scares you to death, well it certainly should.
I have many names, but there's one you know best,
I'm sure you've heard of me, my name is crystal meth.
My power is awesome, try me you'll see,
But if you do, you may never break free.
Just try me once and I might let you go,
But try me twice, and I'll own your soul.
When I possess you, you'll steal and you'll lie,
You do what you have to -- just to get high.
The crimes you'll commit for my narcotic charms
Will be worth the pleasure you'll feel in your arms.
You'll lie to your mother, you'll steal from your dad,
When you see their tears, you should feel sad.
But you'll forget your morals and how you were raised,
I'll be your conscience, I'll teach you my ways.
I take kids from parents, and parents from kids,
I turn people from God, and separate friends.
I'll take everything from you, your looks and your pride,
I'll be with you always -- right by your side.
You'll give up everything - your family, your home,
Your friends, your money, then you'll be alone.
I'll take and take, till you have nothing more to give,
If you try me be warned - this is no game,
If given the chance, I'll drive you insane.
I'll ravish your body, I'll control your mind,
I'll own you completely, your soul will be mine.
The nightmares I'll give you while lying in bed,
The voices you'll hear, from inside your head.
The sweats, the shakes, the visions you'll see,
I want you to know, these are all gifts from me.
But then it's too late, and you'll know in your heart,
That you are mine, and we shall not part.
You'll regret that you tried me, they always do,
But you came to me, not I to you.
You knew this would happen, many times you were told,
But you challenged my power, and chose to be bold.
You could have said no, and just walked away,
If you could live that day over, now what would you say?
I'll be your master, you will be my slave,
I'll even go with you, when you go to your grave.
Now that you have met me, what will you do?
Will you try me or not?
It's all up to you.
I can bring you more misery than words can tell,
Come take my hand, let me lead you to hell.

Something to pass along to your friends and children. Maybe
you can save a child from this horror.

In the words of Third Eye Blind:

"Doing crystal meth will lift you up until you break"

I know a LOT of people messed up on meth. Even after you stop, you're never the same.

One of the scariest drugs ever! My kids are getting tired of me telling them just how bad this drug is, but I know some many kids who try it and as Shelley says, are never the same (and it's sooo tough to kick). Kids from wonderful families who just met the wrong person at the wrong time. It breaks my heart. It's not like other drugs where you can use a time or two and walk away.

Dana - do more than pray that your boys never get involved. Be proactive in making sure they never get involved. Educate yourself. Otherwise you won't be armed for any kind of battle, should it arise.

Thanks Shelley. Right now my boys are young (5 months and almost 5 years) but I already am drilling into Gabe how bad smoking is. I have already brought the subject of drugs up with him but he is too young to understand.

We have an excellent REAP program where I work that the school psychologist organizes. She has all kinds of speakers come in for presentations and people with true stories to discuss the horrors and unfortuante tragedies. I plan on taking them to these as well.

It is a very scary world to bring children up in.

I heard that it eats holes in your brain and will rot out your teeth. Sounds pretty, huh? That is all the education I need! LOL!

Charlotte~~

It doesn't rot out your teeth. However, it does kill brain cells at a pretty spectacular rate. In the grand scheme of things, it's a dirty, dirty drug. Not that any of them are squeaky clean, but it's dirtier than most.

Anne...yes, it is that addictive. Many people do it one time and are addicted.

Meth is what heroine was back in the 60's-70's...the drug you should be too scared to try.

Schools do have anti-drug programs from grade school through high school...but there is no substitute for just sitting down with your kid(s) and telling them that you love them and why they should never do drugs. I have one child in high school and believe me, drugs are everywhere if a kid wants to get some. I have one child in middle school who has a classmate who has already been to drug rehab...a 12 yo child. And we live in a small community. It's everywhere. You just have to keep talking to your kids about drugs and that they have to be strong enough to "Just Say No".

My H has had 30yo employees who will try Meth at a party and they're addicted. These are guys with wives and children and old enough to know better, but...it's the allure of the unknown. They say they just wanted to try it one time to see what all the fuss is about. And then they're spending every freakin dime they can get their hands on to support their new drug habit. So, it's not just kids...it's everywhere.

Wanted to add that in our area...taking pseudoephedrine (Sudafed) and similar type of drugs that are used to make Meth off the shelves in stores has greatly reduced the number of meth lab busts in our area. That doesn't mean people aren't still making it, but it is at least making it more difficult for these people to get the raw ingredients that they need.

Does anyone know the website you can go to, to view people who use meth? I have been there before but I can't remember what the website is.
At first the pics look normal but then when you put your mouse on the pic it changes into what these people look like now and it is pretty scary!!
Lori:)

Gosh, reading a thread like this makes me want to put a little bubble around my kids and protect them forever, and ever! Very scary!

I think people actually get so caught up in the drug that they end up negectling other areas of their lives(like dental hygiene), so I'm sure many of them do have rotting teeth in addition to many other nasty things.

Carolyn

Yes, but meth doesn't CAUSE your teeth to rot. I really don't like it when rumours and generalizations and half-truths get thrown around when it comes to drug issues. Do your homework, seek out information, don't just listen to what other people tell you.

I wasn't aware that I was doing that Shelley. Either way, I think we can all agree that Meth is bad bad bad.
