met value in workout manager

My understanding is it's another way to measure the intensity of your workout.

One MET would represent the unit of energy/oxygen the body uses while resting or sitting. Anything from 3 to 6 METS would be moderate activity, and anything above 6 would be vigorous.
 
thanks for your help. i also looked it up on line and now it makes sense. i noticed if you change the MET value in workout manager it does make a difference with calories burned.
