Message I received this morning about lipsticks and microwaving plastic

Normally I'm pretty wary of things that get circulated through email, but this one seemed ligit. I did the test that's described using my Loreal lipstick and my Clinique. Loreal's color stayed true, while the Clinique turned blackish.

"Even lipstick isn't safe anymore...what's next? Brands
don't mean everything. Recently a brand called "Red Earth"
decreased their prices from $67 to $9.90. It contained lead. Lead is a chemical which causes cancer.

The Brands which contain lead are:
I. CHRISTIAN DIOR
2. LANCOME
3. CLINIQUE
4. Y.S.L
5. ESTEE LAUDER
6. SHISEIDO
7. RED EARTH (Lip Gloss)
8. CHANEL (Lip Conditioner)
9. MARKET AMERICA-MOTNES LIPSTICK.

The higher the lead content, the greater the chance of
causing cancer. After doing a test on lipsticks, it was found that the Y.S.L. lipstick contained the most amount of lead. Watch out for those lipsticks which are supposed to stay longer. If your lipstick stays longer, it is because of he higher content of lead.

Here is the test you can do yourself:
1. Put some lipstick on your hand.
2. Use a Gold ring to scratch on the lipstick.
3. If the lipstick color changes to black then you know the lipstick
contains lead.

This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Dioxin Carcinogens causes cancer. Especially breast cancer.

Don't freeze your plastic water bottles with water as
this also releases dioxin in the plastic.

Dr. Edward Fujimoto from Castle hospital was on a TV
program explaining this health hazard. (He is the manager of the Wellness Program at the hospital.) He was talking about dioxin and how bad they are for us.

He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using
plastic containers. This applies to foods that contain fat. He said
that the combination of fat, high heat and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body.

Dioxin are carcinogens and highly toxic to the cells of
our bodies. Instead, he recommends using glass, Corning Ware, or
ceramic containers for heating food. You get the same results ..without the dioxin.

So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups
,etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something
else. Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. Just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc. He said we might remember when some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the
reasons.

To add to this: Saran wrap placed over foods as they
are nuked, with the high heat, actually drips poisonous toxins into the food, use paper towels."

If I had a nickel for every piece of email sent to me which "seemed legit" at first read, I'd be able to retire a very rich woman! LOL!! Not only do I check out everything that contains the kind of "dire warning!!" wording most of the myths/legends do, but when I see text that reads like an article in one of the rag mags, I'm immediately suspicious. You hate to be so cynical, but there is so much untruth being spread via the net, especially in election years - LOL!! A good rule is to take a minute to check it out first, just in case. Even if I can't find it on one of the many sites out there and I have my doubts it's "real", I usually send it into one of them to check out for me, just in case. Sometimes it's a new one and it hasn't yet made it onto the sites. "Break the Chain" is one where you can email items in and they'll check them out for you, and there are probably others as well.

It's right up there with the old "someone's in your back seat" when you stop for gas, right? ha ha.

I keep saying I'm going to think up a good one to see how many people fall for it. I'm going to blame this one on my lack of sleep for the past 2 days

A-jock had a link to a site called snopes.com I believe.....has urban legends on it if I am correct.

Actually heating foods up in certain materials does cause leaching of the chemicals into the food. I believe this is fact. I'd use glass .....and in fact DO!! LOL!!

Well off I go to flush my pet alligator, Angus, down the toilet. He's just getting toooooo big for his aquarium!!!

GOOOOOOOO 24!!!

I'm skeptcial of these email "warnings" but, I was taken recently by the "exploding cell phones while getting gas" because it described my gassing habits exactly!

Anyway, now I realize that anything of this magnitude would make front page headlines. That's the measuring stick I use now.

Lipstick does have some nasty stuff in it, I don't know about lead but they use tallow which is processed animal fat that they get from rendering plants (rendering plants take the left over parts from animals, including road kill, and process them for use in cosmetics and other products)...eww.

As for cell phones at the pump it is a risk because of static electricity. The gas stations I go to all have no cell phone signs at the pump. Just last year there was a woman in our local news who's car caught fire at the pump because she got back into her car while pumping, and when she got out to put the nozzle away the static electricity from her hand ignited the gas fumes. She wasn't hurt, luckily, but her car was totalled. they said the best way to avoid this is by touching something metal before reaching for the pump or by not getting into your car while pumping gas.
