Maximum heart rate?

Calee

Cathlete
Hi ladies,
I'm newly pregnant, only 6 wks along. I hope to be able to continue my regular exercise routine. I've heard a few times that when pregnant, our heart rate during exercise should not exceed 140. Does anyone know the specifics on this? I obviously won't overexert myself on purpose, but am wondering if I should invest in a heart rate monitor.
I've felt completely fine so far, no sickness or fatigue, etc. so can I just follow Cathe as normal until it becomes uncomfortable?
Sorry to be so clueless!

Congratulations Calee!:D A wonderful book that was recommended to me by the awesome ladies on here was Exercising Through Your Pregnancy by James F. Clapp. I found it at the library. My doc told me not to let my HR go above 140 either and not to do ab work, which I found out was a bit out-dated advice after some research. http://www.acog.org/publications/patient_education/bp119.cfm

Your body will let you know...the fact that you're an exerciser usually means you're probably more in tune with your body anyway.
