Marvelous Mom's Check-in!!!

Yahoo! I"m so glad I wasn't the only one interested in this type of check-in. It's so nice to hear from my old buddies, and some new ones too!
I have to say, I wasn't big on exercise this week. This week (especially the later portion) focused on my family...which is one of the few things that ARE more important than working out. :) I love them so much!!!

Here's my week:
Sun: 5 mi run (beautiful outside)
Mon: off
Tue: off
Wed: 3.5 mi run
Thurs: off
Fri: off
Sat: Awesome Intervals + Ab Ripper

Hope everyone had a great week.

P.S. If anyone was wondering what the "NEVERMIND" post was about...I was checking to see if anyone had replied to the Awesome Mom's post and I couldn't find it! I thought that Cathe's staff had removed it. I couldn't believe it. So I was wondering where it went. Then I had remembered that I had alphabetized the authors or something, so it was way on the bottom of the page. When I found it, I was embarrassed by my post, so I removed it. Anyway...for those inquiring minds out there. Uh um, a.k.a. Briee & others!!!!

BTW, is anyone else NOT getting e-mails when there's a response to a subscribed post?

Hi,
Melanie, I don't get emailed when responses occur.
Ms. energizer bunny is funally tired and is going to sleep. It is 8 pm and today she truly was a toddler getting into everything. Are you getting any more sleep Melanie?

Here is my workout week:
Sunday-bodymax (felt guilty after skipping workouts last friday and sat)
Monday-KPC
tues-Firm-vol. 2
Wed-ctx medley did intervals from step and interval and kickbox and hi/lo from powercircuit and 10-10-10 plus step from 10-10-10. All step abs.
Thurs-Firm-lowerbody split in the morning then a 30 min. mostly jog with hubby and alexis in the eve.
Friday--upper body from classics
Sat-stepblast+sJP abs

Good afternoon ladies!

It is so nice to be back here checking in with you all. Last week was very hectic at work and I could not pry myself away from my work duties even long enough to say Hi to everyone.

Last week was not very good exercise wise either, so I won't even go there. This week, however, I hope to be much better. This morning I jumped on the scale and I've gained 2 pounds since last week. I'm kinda discouraged because even though my exercising was not that great my eating went really well. I guess this is my wake up call to start buckling down.

On a bright note I did get my collage order in the mail Friday before I left work. Saturday night I previewed my 3 DVD's - Stott's The Secret to Flat Abs & Gin Miller's Simply Strong & Simply Endurance. I plan to do Simply Endurance tonight, but I will need to do my Cathe's later this week.

Elyse, you have the best mish moshes from other workouts. I wouldn't even know where to begin.

Melanie - How long have you been running 5 miles at one time? The most I can run at one time has been 3 miles. Maybe one day I will work myself up to 5. I also don't get email notification when a message is submitted.

Have a great day!
Kristi

Hi Ladies-I dont really check in to much here-but I usually look at the posts!;) Isnt it shocking how fast your babies grow up!! Its so much fun-but it is kinda sad too!My baby is already 7.5 months old-he has been crawling since 5 months -so he is now trying to walk.He pulls up on everything and walks along furniture! It seems like yesterday that he was a newborn.;( I did get the book that someone reccomended to me about healthy sleep habits for babies-we are still working on schedule for him-he still gets up at least 1 time during the night-but he is doing alot better about sleeping longer periods.Anyway here is what I did for workouts last week:
MOn.-PUB
Tues.-PLB/4 mile power walk
Wed.-4 mile run/4 mile p.walk
Thurs.-Bootcamp
Fri.-Imax 2/ 7.5 mile p.walk
Sat.-Muscle Endurance
Sun.-rest
TTYL!

Run

Hey Kristi! It's nice to see you again this week. About running...I typically just run early Spring & until mid-July or so. However, baby Justin rarely allows me to do anythign else but run...I put him in a baby jogger (he loves it). Since I can't get a video in, I've been running longer.
I started in April & after not running since last July I had to take it easy. Began at about 1.5miles & slowly increased for about a month to 3.5 miles. By end of June I was able to run about 5 miles. Now time is a factor...so I usually run about 45-60 minutes. I'd prefer to do step though.
It always helps for me to do endurance 1st, then speed. Also to join 5 & 10K races for inspiration. :)

Hi all,
Kristi, I do have some muttly workouts. Got your email, thanks for helping me complete my slow and heavy set. Don't fret about 2 pounds. I find that my weight natually flexuates by 2 pounds. Smiley, keep joining us. Hope the book helps with the sleep.

Sleep?@??@ What's that? Little Justin was up about every 2hrs again last night. Really taking a toll on this end. Good news though. I told DH that Justin is going to be crying a lot next 2 nights b/c he IS going to learn to sleep through the night. DH didn't say anything (he usually says he's too little & needs to sleep with us). :D I DID let him cry for 45 min last night & I STILL had to rock him to sleep. Urgh!! Wish me luck/ please include me in your prayers...especially next couple of nights! Thanks!

Sorry I have been AWOL lately. Work has been busy and I’ve been working on a project that I just finished, drawing a portrait of my son. The only workout I have gotten in this week has been Gin Miller’s Simply Endurance. I was pleasantly surprised by how little weight (5 lb dumbbells & 15 lb barbell) I used and the muscle burning I felt. I normally use about as much as Cathe uses in her videos. So far this week there have been too many social obligations. Tuesday night was DH softball game and last night was mine. Unfortunately my game was at 9:30 last night so I did not get in a workout. Tonight I have Bunko with some girl friends. We only get together once a month. I have come to the conclusion that I need to revamp my wokouts and add a second workout MWF. Tentatively I think I will try to workout Sunday–Friday or Sunday-Thursday at night doing 2-3 strength/endurance sessions and 3-4 cardio. On M-W-F I think I might do a 30 minute 2.5 – 3 mile run during my lunch hour at work. I really need to lose at least 10 pounds and maybe this will help me get back on track. Let’s just hope this goes as planned.

Melanie – Aren’t baby joggers wonderful! DH bought mine at Target for my birthday present last year, per my request. I have definitely gotten my money’s worth out of it. Lately I have been eyeing a bike with a trailer so I can tote Alexander around the neighborhood. While Alexander likes the jogger, he is beginning to think that he is too big for it. I would like to run a 5K or 10K sometime as well. Right now I am trying to get pregnant with baby #2 so I have put that on the back burner until after the birth.

Smiley2 & Melanie – I pray that your babies will start sleeping through the night. That first year, IMHO, was the hardest. The best thing DH & I ever did was establish a routine for Alexander at bedtime. It took about a week, and quite a few tears from Alexander and heartache from me hearing him cry, for him to realize that we are nearby and that he needs to sleep on his own. Even after moving him from the crib to the toddler bed we have been very lucky in the fact that he will go to bed at 9 every night without fussing and sleep on his own, (but we do let him take a few toys to bed with him). Every night when I put him to bed he asks me one of two questions, “Mommy exercise?” or “Mommy shower?”.

Smiley2 – All I can say is “WOW” to your workouts. Girl where do you get the energy?

Shopaholic – I am more than happy to help out another mother in her quest for fitness. I truly hope you enjoy it.

Well, I’ve already written you a book. Hi to all Moms! Have a great day!

Update: Justin slept for 6.5 hrs straight last night! Yahoo! Now I have a nasty cold & I'm burnt out. Oh well. Tonight's a whole new story.

Kristi, I ran my 1st 10K when I was pregnant (1st trimester). It was tough, I ran super slow...came in almost last! But I RAN the whole thing & that made me happy. Besides, I was first in MY class (pregnant class(. ;) We are also trying for another baby. I will continue current exercise regimen until I become pg...than I will take it down a notch. :D

It's nice to hear from you Krisit!

Hi everyone!! Life seems to get in the way with my posting sometimes!! Let see....first Shopaholic thanks for the picture of Alexis, she is so beautiful, what a sweet little girl!!! I get notified when you guys post, but ya gotta check that box that says you want to be notified (I'm sure you know this and are probably doing it - don't know what else it might be). Melanie...thanks for explaining the nevermind...I just had to be a snot and comment ;-) ;-) ;-) . Kristi (I think that was you that mentioned the 5 or 10K...thought you should know that Melanie got first place in her 5K a few weeks back...she's incredible! I did a 5K in September.....it was torture and I think you guys who run are amazing!!! Have I ever said that I HATE endurance workouts....if not...I hate endurance workouts.

Monday: P90X legs and back, BT&R leg work
Tues: KPC cardio premix and abs
Wed: Muscle endurance with added heavy chest, shoulder weight work and pullups
Thurs: Imax II Abripper X
Fri: couldn't remember for some reason, I did something
Sat: P90X Chest shoulders and triceps, BTR leg work, Ab ripper X
Sun: SB-SPJ Cardio 60 minute premix.

We are in the midst of family pullup wars/competitions so I'm getting in my share of pullups lately.

I'm praying that ALL of our babies will sleep through the night. Noah still gets up and cries, but I leave him to cry which isn't too long. I give him a bottle around 4 and then go work out. I never give it to him if he is crying, I wait until he lays down and is asleep. That way I figure that he won't get in the habit of crying for one. My hearts going out to you Melanie. I just couldn't let baby cry for 45 minutes (not that you shouldn't! I just know how hard it is) and I'm a pushover. You have such determination...I just know it will pay off, you WILL get through this!!

Briee

Briee, thanks for the complement on the running. :D BTW, I was reading about sleep issues at iVilliage forum & many moms of strong-willed kids have let their babies cry for 2 HOURS or more!!! Man, talk about tough! I'm going to get some earplugs to use when it gets bad. I know it's for his own good that he learns to sleep thru the night.
Actually, last night he went about 5 hrs again!!! However, I was up every 2 hrs b/c I can't breathe thru my nose b/c I'm so congested. I haven't had a sinus cold in well over a year (thank God b/c I wouldn't have wanted a sinus cold when I was pg). Anyway, I've unplugged the baby monitor in my room. I can hear Justin cry without it, but not the whimpering. This way, he has to REALLY be awake for me to hear it. I think this will help. You awesome moms are going to think I'm really mean, but tonight I'm going to take some Benadryl to help me sleep! I have a full 10.5hr day at work tomorrow & I don't want to be too sleepy. :) DH will have to come to Justin's aid if I'm too clunked out. Hee hee.
BTW, I AM subscribed to these topics and I STILL don't get notifications of replies?!?!?

Hi everyone!

Just poking my head in for a moment. Boy, do I feel out of the loop.

Mr. Bardric can now go down the stairs unattended and climbs everything!! And Malcolm (our downs syndrome 3 yo, who is more like a 20 month old can now swing his leg up and over what we affectionately call his "cage" (play pen) and thus escape. Keeping the little boys "contained" is my biggest challenge!

Bardric is saying mama and signing thirsty and more. We started signing for Malcolm, but have never done it with any of our other children. It really does work for non verbal babies!

Hey Melanie--I've done the benedryl thing too. I mean sometimes you've just got to sleep, you know?

I left you all hanging with the political thing on the other thread--I wasn't sure if I should out myself because some of the threads on the open discussion board have gotten sooo ugly (you ladies on the other hand are so very kind and polite), but I am a solid Bush supporter and a total news junkie and it always gets worse during election season.(insert frazzled looking smiley here:p :p )

I have gone to see the doctor regarding some mysterious symptoms that have been plaguing me, namely a feeling of bloatedness in my abdomen and needing to pee all the time. I do not have an infection and I am not pregnant, so it is all very strange. I had an ultrasound and a full blood workup today and should find out the results next week. The doc thinks it is probably nothing and it probably is nothing, but my hubbie insisted that I go get it checked out.

I'd love to send pictures out (Mr. B is sooo cute now), but our flaky e mail does not allow itx( x(

My weight continues to plateau, although my clothes feel a little looser as does my wedding ring.

Well take care everyone! I'll try to check in more often.

Maggie

Melanie, I too have that awful cold and despite Alexis' great sleeping, my sleep this week stunk. I too did the bendryl thing. Hopefully Justin's sleep will improve as you let him cry it out, it is tough to do though.
Maggie, so nice to hear from you. Did you get Alexis' most recent picture? Alexis is quite the chatty one now, saying Hi to people. She is still not walking but is getting there. What a handful Malcolm and Bardric must be together.

Hi Shopaholic

Yes, I got her extremely lovely picture! What a sweetie.

And yes, the small ones are a handful, but I am managing.:p :p

take care

Maggie
