Maltese puppies

I am new to this breed, but curious about females vs. males. My girls are ages 7, 8, and 9 and want a female. It's so difficult to find one though. Any thoughts?

I don't know anything about the breed. I wanted to suggest you google or search yahoo for Maltese groups. You will find a ton of info on dog forums!!
